  1. QUOTE (sam785 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 01:56 PM) This. Let's hit TWO grandslams today. Slayer is going to hit 3 alone, so...
  2. QUOTE (brendol @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) We arent getting Halladay. If we do, it would completely drain our minor league system. We arent serious contenders as it is, so i doubt kenny will do that. Tell me what team is going to want to go into the playoffs and face Buehrle, Floyd, Danks, and Contreras? Tell me what team is going to want to go into the playoffs and face a 2005-esque Scotty Pods, a potentially healthy Carlos Quentin, and a JD/PK that have found themselves again? If we landed Roy Halladay without losing Beckham, we become instant SERIOUS contenders in the AL.
  3. There is no way you deal Beckham. Sorry.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 09:05 AM) For all the talk about the grievances, Versteeg is the only one left that can still take advantage of it, all the other guys signed. Does anybody know if they have Hossa jerseys/shirts for sale anywhere in Chicago yet? I've looked online and it seems like they dont have them yet. The one in Benton Harbor is closed. The guy at the one in Merrillville told me he just ordered 15 Hossa jerseys.
  5. How about... Hawks get: Mikhail Grabovski Evgeni Nabokov Leafs get: Kris Versteeg Sharks get: Cristobal Huet 1st round pick in 2010
  6. How do I find mine? I'm sure it was a good one.
  7. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) The thing about Q... will he be able to play LF, let alone RF with how his foot is? He might wind up being the DH next year. Then bring back Dye but don't guarantee him a DH spot. If Quentin needs it, he can DH. If Quentin is fine in the field, then Dye can DH. If they both need it then...I don't know.
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) Well, they won't be attending any in the Dome next year.
  9. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 04:17 PM) One thing is for sure though, Big Jim still walks a ton and still gets on base at a great clip. I completely agree, I'm just saying that so many people here love Thome. Sure, pick out his homer in the 163rd game last year, the one earlier this year against Oakland I think it was, etc. It just seems like he never does it in the late innings. I'm sure there's a stat that proves me wrong, though. Let Thome walk and bring back Dye to DH. Danks in CF, Quentin in RF, ? in LF.
  10. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 01:54 AM) Your family seems to be a fan of separation I went to Alaska and I loved it. I hate the heat in Chicago in the summer so the occasional 2 week stay here and there up in Juneau at 65-70 every day would be outstanding. I'd have to keep a house here in Chicago in the winter to hit Hawks and Bears games with my ST's, but I'd also have a house in South Beach for when the Bears are done for the year. My parents love the weather up in New England. My brother loves San Diego, and my other one just likes the heat in Arizona, so that's that.
  11. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) Anyone think Thome might hang it up after this year? I think it'd take him at least 2 more years to get to 600, and he's really slowing down big time. He can't hit lefties at all it seems like (except for a select few), he isn't clutch at all, his bat is slowing down, is starting to struggle to catch up to good fastballs, etc. Plus, he can only play DH and is an injury concern. I love Jim, but no way I want him back next year. Prepare for soxtalk to burst in flames at any second now.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 07:53 PM) Bosh wants to play in Chicago. I've heard that from some of my GT sources, and there was also a mention of it in ESPN Magazine No, I know about Bosh. I'm saying that I think you told me that Wade doesn't want any part of playing in Chicago.
  13. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 01:59 PM) Why is Flowers untouchable? He's a future DH...he's definately a masher, but he's not graded to be a major league catcher at all... Flowers is growing defensively behind the plate. I think he stays there. BTW- Guzman is a real solid player. He's a switch-hitter. I'd rather he started at 2B and Getz came off the bench 1 or 2 days a week to spell Cristian.
  14. Chris Kuc/Tribune Not sure about Brouwer and Fraser, but I like Eager.
  15. QUOTE (forrestg @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) To get Halladay it will take something special. Players salary is a great concern for the Blue Jays. I would say maybe Brandon Allen, and Poreda. just a guess. Allen, Poreda, and Richard? Done. They can have Link, too.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 12:55 PM) I hope you don't mean all together, that would be the dumbest trade in the history of sports. I didn't mean that. In the "who is KW trying to shake loose" thread, everyone is saying that they wouldn't give up either of those guys. Then how the hell do we get him? We don't.
  17. What about Christian Guzman? He can play 2B, 3B, and SS, and he can either be a utility guy or our everyday SS and move Alexei to CF.
  18. If we don't want to give up Hudson, Beckham, Flowers, Danks, or Viciedo, we have no chance.
  19. MVP: Pods. Runner up: Dye ROY: Beckham. Runner up: Getz (I guess) CY: Buehrle. Runner up: Thornton DUD: Fields. Runner up: Ramirez (only defensively) I think we'll make a run at the division title, maybe a pennant if Pods stays healthy. I'd love to get in. I'll take my chances with our team + Quentin + a top 3 of Buehrle/Danks/Floyd. No team wants to face us with that.
  20. Have a summer home in Juneau, Alaska. Have a winter home here and South Beach. Upgrade my Hawks season tickets to row 3, upper deck, right at center ice. Upgrade my Bears season tickets to 1 of the upper deck, right at mid-field. Get a Sox half-season plan on their dugout. Go on a 10-day cruise of New England with my parents. Buy my parents a house in Maine on the ocean. Buy my oldest brother a house in San Diego on the ocean. Buy my 2nd oldest brother a house in Arizona. Get Shoeless Joe in the HOF.
  21. I'm happy he was running tentatively. Why would we want him sprinting his a** off in meaningless games?
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 03:36 PM) Quite frankly, yeah, I think Chris Bosh is as worthy or a max deal as anyone on the 2010 FA list. Bosh is a 20-10 guy + a block or 2 but he's been known to be pretty damn soft. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) can anyone post a link with a quote? Because that is news to me. Fathom told me that this past year, so I took his word for it.
