7/3 Game Thread Sox @ Kansas City 7:10pm CSN

Do it Danksy. -
QUOTE (dbaho @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 01:07 AM) Campbell to San Jose perhaps, or Huet if Nabokov is being dealt. Marleau would definitely be a huge upgrade as a 2nd line center though. If we trade Huet now, that'd be a huge mistake. Unless we traded both guys and got Nabokov back in return, which will not happen.
-
I couldn't find it on HB, so I typed it into google, and it brought up a Leafs board. They claim the only player the Hawks would get is Marleau, while we'd be giving up a prospect to Toronto, and a pick and a player to San Jose. Yuck.

Watch us score 5 in 4 innings on Greinke tomorrow.

I'm assuming, since he was on here today and I sent the PM a day or 2 ago, he's just ignoring it, but does anyone know where I can find the full-size picture that SoxAce has as his avatar. It's Beckham with 2 women and it says SLAYER across the picture.

QUOTE (kane0730 @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) Thome hit the ball hard off of Sowers last night. Although that's really not saying much. And BA in the 6th spot is a scary thought. Hopefully Ozzie will leave him batting 9th the rest of the year. Anderson hit in the 6 hole in Cincinnati all 3 games, if I'm not mistaken. He had a hit or 2 in each game, I believe. -

QUOTE (kane0730 @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 02:47 PM) My prediction on the line-up tonight: Pods-Nix-Dye-Thome-Kong-AJ-Beckham-Getz-BA I hope it's: Pods-Nix-Dye-Konerko-AJ-Anderson-Beckham-Getz-Fields Thome doesn't look good up there lately, especially against LHP's. -
What's the best seats you've ever had at the Cell?

QUOTE (Linnwood @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 12:28 PM) Anyone ever sit next to the guy in the yellow M&M's jacket? (Who is that guy? He is always wearing that jacket, regardless of time of year.) He's the owner of Windy City Limo. -
If the Marlins offered Hanley for Slayer straight up, would you do it? Please say yes. This time last year, the idea of Quentin for Lincecum came up, and everyone said you had to keep TCQ.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) Arizona and Milwaukee have an argument Drew Upton Young Haren Scherzer Reynolds Gallardo Villanueva Hart Braun Fielder Weeks Gamel Hardy Then you have Texas with Kinsler/Andrus/Salty/Teagarden/Ramirez and a glut of pitchers. Also the Orioles have Jones/Wieters/Markakis and I dont know who else but thats quite the trio. But I'd say that group of young core players we have has gotta be one of, if not the, best group in the majors without a doubt. Matusz, Tillman, and Arrieta make the Orioles look like they could have a Tampa type season in a few years to go along with the guys you mentioned.

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 02:20 PM) I hope we can bring back Ladd, granted my knowledge of hockey is limited, I think he is incredibly under-appreciated. He's pretty good, but he might be asking for too much in an offseason where 4 others guys are top priorities (Kane, Toews, Keith, Hjarlmasson).

QUOTE (JFields27 @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 12:59 PM) i think if we lose steeger, Skille is the one that will step up for that vacancy. I think I read somewhere that unless Beach makes the NHL team he has to go back to the WHL because he is not old enough to play for the AHL(Not turning 20 til Jan 13). If Ladd does leave us next season I think Beach fills that vacancy perfectly, but thats next season and I dont think Ladd will be a whole lot of money even though we have to sign our main guys. That's true. Totally forgot about Skille.

How many White Sox games have you been to?
whitesoxbrian replied to Marky Mark's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This year I've only been to 5. In my lifetime, I voted 101-200. I get most of them from work, or my friend who's dad works for the Sox. -

10 rows behind the Sox on-deck circle. I've sat in the SS once, it was this year against Detroit, row 11. Pretty damn good there. When I saw the Sox in Pittsburgh in 2006, I sat 3 rows from 1st base. -
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) As someone who doesn't know s*** about Hockey, but starting to get into it (thanks to the Hawks awesome playoff run).... can someone explain to me how the line system works? Do you have your 1st line in for most of the game, or for only a certain amount of time, or what. From what I've read so far, good offseason for the Hawks. Well, you don't necessarily have your 1st line on the ice most of the game, but you probably want it. The Hawks next year might consist of Toews and Hossa, which, why wouldn't you want that out there? However, last year the Hawks Bolland-Ladd-Havlat line was incredible and it was their 2nd or 3rd line, I can't remember which. The 4th line usually consists of maniacs (Eager, Burish, Brouwer) who skate around and use tons of energy trying to hit and make something happen. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 11:32 AM) THe question becomes is there going to be a slot for some of these guys to learn on the job in Chicago? Last year, Versteeg making the team wasn't exactly expected, but he did, and had a damn good year. Bolland never really consistently got it going. In the 2006-2007 season I think he played in 1 or 2 games, and in the 2007-2008 season, he played a decent amount of games (I want to say half but I could be wrong) and had 15 or so points. Therefore, Bolland and Versteeg were young guys who learned on the fly and being surrounded with a bunch of world class players, contributed big time for the Hawks. I think Beach could do that this year, if needed.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 11:10 AM) One of the most important thing any sports franchise can have is superior scouting, meaning knowing what your team has and who is expendable but still has value on the trade market (I think the White Sox have been very good at this). Looks like the Blackhawks will be tested on this. The Hawks have an unreal "farm system". Aliu, Beach, Lalonde, etc. If we lose Versteeg, I feel confident that Beach can step in. He's Eager plus 25-30 goals.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 09:07 AM) I have to admit Im come of a bandwagon fan and was just getting into the blackhawks this last season, that being said Havlat was probably my favorite player so its kind of sad to see him go. Are we going to be able to keep the core of this team together with Huet and Campbell's huge contracts working against us? Dale said in his press conference yesterday that with the way the Hossa deal was signed, it'll allow more lee-way in extending Kane, Toews, and Keith next offseason. However, next offseason, Ladd is also a UFA. He'll likely be gone and at that point, we might be looking to deal Campbell. If we can't deal him, Sopel will likely be shipped out (thank god).

Do it Buehrls. -
No way they win the WC. I'm starting to believe in winning the ALC.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 02:20 PM) Huet, like most goaltenders, was the s*** last year when given consistent playing time. He didn't sign here to split time and he certainly didn't sign to be a backup. I expect him to be quite good in the coming season. I hope you're right. Our defense is good and continues to make strides, but we need another stride next year. Also, these Wings fans need to stop saying Hossa isn't clutch. He was 2nd in the 2008 playoffs in points, 5th last year among Red Wings in points in the playoffs, and 4th among Red Wings in goals in the playoffs.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 01:56 PM) Buster Posey could eventually be THE premier catcher in the league. Not with Mauer, McCann, and maybe Wieters in the league. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) So they finally promoted him? And he is only 19. So there's nothing wrong with him being at high A at this point. True. I didn't realize he's only 19.
-
The Khabibulin deal is likely front-loaded so it's not a bad deal. I'm not comfortable going into a season with Huet as the starter. Gross.

Why aren't the Hawks in Sweden trying to sign Gustavsson?
