2015 Wild Card Games
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 07:59 PM) Look it's pedro Alvarez in the 3rd inning. Nice managing. Rodriguez didn't even hit. He was just in there to screw up at first lol.

Alvarez pinch hitting for Rodriguez.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 07:54 PM) My cubs friend just texted me what a bomb from Rizzo. To be fair, Rizzo and Schwarber have similar stances and are both lefty.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 07:54 PM) Liriano was a much tougher matchup for Cubs Some of their best hitters are lefty (or at least better as lefties, like Fowler). So yeah, Liriano would have made a lot of sense. But you don't sit your #1 starter with a 2.6 ERA and 2.66 FIP for a one game playoff.

Pirates need to get a running game going. Arrieta's weakness is holding runners.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 07:24 PM) Hurdle really ovethought his lineup. Seems like he's playing not to lose. Yup. Just go with what has worked. Don't take out your best power hitter in the biggest game of the year.

2015 Wild Card Games
Arrieta's better against lefties, so I don't understand why you'd hit Polanco leadoff if you're not going to play Alvarez.

2015 Wild Card Games
Cole recovered at the end there. He was clearly a bit shaken pitching to the first two hitters.

2015 Wild Card Games
Why is Sean Rodriguez even playing first?

2015 Wild Card Games
The scary thing is that this one run might be enough for Arrieta.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) He's a good hitter though, it's not that unreasonable I wouldn't say he's good, average is probably a better word.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) The Cubs have one extra-base hit against Cole this year, and it was a double by none other than... Tommy LaStella. Yeah, I don't think that one double warrants him hitting 5th though lol
-
2015 Wild Card Games
So why the hell is Tommy LaStella hitting 5th? It's not like he's hit well against Cole or anything.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 02:32 PM) It would be so great if the Pirates can just win tonight and shut them up. Doubt it happens with Arrieta on the mound though and a Pirates team that struggled hitting of late. I won't get too upset if Cubs win tonight, as it would still put them in the same position they were in for 2007 and 2008 where they had their postseason end in 4 days. With Arrieta only going once in the division series, there's a decent chance they can lose given their poor rotation depth behind Lester. But the Cardinals are kind of a mess right now and the NL is wide open.

I'm really glad I don't live in Chicago right now. Bandwagon Cubs fans talking s*** was awful.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 07:23 PM) But no one "deserves" to win more than them because of all the "suffering" they've gone through! They're like Cardinals fans, except their team doesn't actually win.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 06:47 PM) I don't think Austin much cares about sports, but there's no doubt in my mind if the Astros/Rangers are 1, 2, without a doubt the Cubs are #3. The Chicago following here is enormous. It doesn't care much about pro sports cause of UT. Plus, there's a huge split between fans of the Houston and Dallas teams.

2015 Wild Card Games
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 02:37 PM) You're really not. 1) Cubs fans are a more nation wide fanbase. There are nearly as many Cub fans in Austin as there are Astros or Rangers fans here. You're never going to make those people White Sox fans. 2) When the White Sox were good, you know a huge portion of the people watching were Cub fans. Also, they don't affect our organization. Period. If the Sox are good, they have enough fans to go. If they're bad, no one bothers. Cubs have nothing to do with it. Yeah, I don't think that's the case at all. It's not that there's not many Cubs fans, it's that there's much more Rangers and Astros fans here.

Another School Shooting
So apparently, this kid posted that he was going to shoot up a school in the northwest on 4chan the night before he did this. 4chan being 4chan and /b/ being /b/, some of the posters actually encouraged him to do it. Maybe they didn't think he was serious, but it's 4chan, there's all kinds of messed up s*** on there.

2015-2016 NFL Thread
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 11:09 AM) If you watch that game last night and grade Rodgers out as negative, you need to rethink how you grade players. They gave the same grade to Teddy Bridgewater who had 121 yards passing, 0 TD and 1 INT. Rodgers had 5 TD, 333 passing yards and 0 turnovers. So to them, that is pretty much the same performance. Also, the original grade they had on Rodgers was -2.2, they changed it to -0.8. So originally they had him and Jimmy Clausen having equally bad games. Yeah...PFF needs to rethink their ratings.

2015-2016 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 10:47 AM) I heard Lebatard talking about it this morning. Some of it had to do with a dropped pick six and a fumble he had. Not sure how much that played into things, because even if you assumed he did both of those things, you still have 5 TD's and 2 turnovers, which has to be a positive value performance. Yup definitely. Did they take away something from the free-play TDs he had as well? Maybe that was part of the reason his grade was low.
