  1. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 18, 2014 -> 12:54 PM) Half a game is certainly a real punishment. What happens if they are trailing at half, or barely lose? That first half could cost them the game, the season, etc. The risk is there, so while not a crazy huge punishment, it's very "real." It's almost like suspending Manziel for half the game last year. A&M still won by a ton. That being said, Clemson is much better than Rice.
  2. I really don't see a big deal with what Winston said. Is it stupid? Yeah. Just like him stealing soda and crab legs. Half a game isn't a real punishment and I don't feel like he should get a real punishment for this. This is getting way overblown by the media.
  3. I'm still torn between Ridley and Stacy. I have a feeling the Rams might be down a lot to Dallas and Stacy won't get many touches.
  4. This is hilarious: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/grantlan...outing-reports/
  5. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 17, 2014 -> 10:50 AM) I don't know. Vereen had 7 carries in Week 1 and Bolden isn't very good. It's hard to trust any of their RBs due to Belichick though. Tough call. Vereen isn't the guy they like running a lot with, he's used as a pass RB, which is why he didn't get a lot of touches last week - they didn't need to pass much after the third quarter. Garbage time points are either going to Ridley or Bolden and like you said, Bolden's bad.
  6. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 17, 2014 -> 11:01 AM) No root needed. You have to go to developer settings for your phone and turn on the ability to "Uninstall unknown apps/apps not from play store". Then from your phone, google showbox and you should find it. They have every tv show and movie known to man. If you want to cast it to your ChromeCast(which I do), just use Avia or Allcast (both legal apps on playstore). Go into showbox, select your movie, uncheck use internal player, click the quality, and you'll get a popup asking what movie player you want to use. Choose Allcast or Avia. From there, casting will be done to your chromecast of choice. I find I'm also able to use my PS3 and WDTV without modifying either one. Kinda weird. It sounds a lot harder than it actually is. Trust me, takes about 5 minutes to setup and less than 30 seconds to startup a movie. Avia kind of sucks and Allcast costs money. I like LocalCast a lot, it's free and it even follows Material Design guidelines. BubbleUPnP is another option (also free if you don't need encoding).
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 17, 2014 -> 10:29 AM) Ridley got all the carries last week. Vereen got like 4. Belicheck could alternate weeks with the two though. I don't think Vereen would get those carries, it's more likely to be Bolden.
  8. I need to start 2 of 3, half-PPR. Zac Stacy vs. Dallas Knile Davis vs. Miami Stevan Ridley vs. Oakland Right now I'm leaning Stacy and Davis, but I just kind of know New England's going to go up big on Oakland and Ridley's going to get a ton of garbage time touches like he did last week.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 05:50 PM) Should I spend a big chunk to get Asiata if I am a Peterson owner? Should I go elsewhere, like Rainey? Donald Brown? Asiata was very meh. Rainey was awesome, but Martin should be back in the near future. Tough call, but I would still go with Rainey.
  10. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 08:52 PM) I was looking at phones they had in Sprint today and I didn't really like the feel, look, and size of the HTC One. I did like the LG G3 though. I didn't see the Moto X out there though The new Moto X won't be out for a bit on carriers other than AT&T and T-Mobile. It has the cleanest version of Android out of all the non-Nexus flagship phones and Motorola is really good about updating their phones. They usually get their updates about a week or two after Nexus devices get it.
  11. QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 03:45 PM) In the year 2000 *Conan voice*, Tim Hudson came up short in the Cy Young vote and finished 2nd with a 4.14 ERA. Pedro Martinez had 1.74 ERA and an ERA+ of 291. That ERA+ is the best ever away from some fellow in 1880. I am going way off subject now, but Pedro is at the absolute least a top five pitcher ever. What a killer he was. Wow, it really hurts me to see who finished near the top of the Cy Young for that year. Tim Hudson, David Wells, Roger Clemens, and Mike Mussina. Neither of those guys had an ERA below 3.7. Wells and Hudson were over 4. How times have changed.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 12:43 PM) Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 1m Of last winter's long-unsigned 5 -- Cruz, Santana, Jimenez, Drew, Morales -- only Cruz has been above-average this year. (Santana 98 ERA+) Wow, a 3.74 ERA is below average in the NL now...I remember when 3.74 was ace-like back in the early 2000s.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 11:58 AM) I'm sure it won't go anywhere, but... Travis Waldron ‏@Travis_Waldron 32m Sen. Maria Cantwell: "In the next few days I will be dropping legislation to end" NFL's nonprofit tax status. The NFL has non-profit tax status? Is that some sort of a joke?
  14. QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 11:35 AM) Strength + Flexibility = Velocity Mark Prior was on steroids & that is how a guy with perfect mechanics breaks down. Too much strength, you lose flexibility. Mark Prior didn't have perfect mechanics. In fact, he had the opposite of that. http://www.chrisoleary.com/projects/Pitchi...gMechanics.html He had a easy-to-repeat motion, which is why I think people said he had good mechanics. However, he had an awful timing issue that put a lot of stress on his arm.
  15. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 10:18 AM) I'm reposting this for emphasis. I hope that everyone takes minute to get familiar with wRC+ because it's just so, so awesome. IMO, it's maybe the best stat in existence right now, in terms of answering an important more accurately than any others. To the poster named Jose Abreu, with regards to your inclination that BA/SLG should be weighted higher than OBP/baserunning: the beauty of wRC+/wOBA/other offensive inputs into WAR is that they are all linear weights-based statistics, which means that their single most tremendous advantage is that they objectively weigh run values across offensive events with incredible precision. One of the big advantages of these statistics is you don't have to wonder how many times a guy needs to get on base to make for his lack of homeruns, because it uses inputs that are based on exactly how many runs are produced through each of the events, and then scales it all to league average as a comparison point. Your question, actually, illustrates the great flaw with OPS -- it treats a point of OBP and SLG equally, when in reality, the values of both are not only significantly different, but they each fluctuate all the time based on the changing run environment. If you're citing OPS, you should really be citing wRC+. They answer the same question, wRC+ is just way more accurate. Seriously, anyone who wants to have an informed opinion on how sabermetrics likes to value offense -- whether that opinion is positive or negative -- should read up on linear weights in baseball stats because they represent what is, IMO, the biggest and most important breakthrough in public baseball analysis since 2000. It's also an incredibly easy concept to grasp.
  16. I was just on the Yahoo Sports homepage and it appears the Vikings will play AP next Sunday.
  17. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 10:20 AM) http://deadspin.com/gus-johnson-is-out-as-...-1634809321/all Gus Johnson out as top announcer for Soccer for Fox. Not a surprise, he was bad. The article sums up my complaints except not really mentioned how he would manufacture his fake "start yelling" when something was close. Not anything against GJ, he's decent at other sports, just didn't work for soccer. Gus should stick to sports where you yell a lot, not sports when you only yell around twice every game.
  18. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 12:37 AM) I don't want to derail the topic you guys started but: I am wanting to get a new phone in the next couple months, I am an android guy so what is the best phone out there? Is there any new ones coming out before the end of the year that are worth the wait? Not really wanting to wait for the newest one because of the prize but depends on the phone/price and the alternatives New Moto X, HTC One M8, LG G3.
  19. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 12:31 AM) I searched the Google PlayStore, but found nothing. Is this something I have to root my phone to use? And do both Show Box and MovieDroid have Chromecast support? MovieDroid does. Both aren't on the Play Store. You don't need root for either, although I think MovieDroid has some annoying ads that I got rid of with my ad blocker (you do need root for that).
  20. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 12:16 AM) What's Showbox? A kind of illegal movie/TV show app that you can find by Googling. I used to use it, but I found MovieDroid a bit better.
  21. QUOTE (BaconOnAStick @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 12:08 AM) Fuller covered Crabtree, took Crab out of the play which forced Kaep to go to his second option 10 yards down the field and he recognized it quick enough to get back there and make the play. To me it was more impressive than the first one, he manipulated a QB's decision making then capitalized on by moving himself to another part of the field. That's veteran lock down corner stuff. He did it in his second game. I looked at the replay for it again and I think you're right. He basically covered two guys on that play and deceived Kaepernick into thinking he was sticking onto Crabtree.
  22. QUOTE (BaconOnAStick @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 11:49 PM) Kyle Fuller made two really great plays for those picks. It wasn't just Kaep throwing it right to him, he earned em. The first one was all Fuller. The second one was sort of a bad throw by Kaepernick. I don't think Kaep saw that Fuller was behind Crabtree.
  23. I've pretty much won in 3 of my 4 leagues with me projected to win by 2 points in the other. That and a Bears win make this a pretty good football Sunday.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 11:22 PM) Cutler said he felt like his chest bone touched his backbone when he got hit It made him throw the ball better, lol.
