  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 09:59 AM) Is there any concern at all that Steve Bannon is an alcoholic? How WWIII starts: Drunk Steven Bannon: "DONALD WE GOTTA NUKE THOSE CHINESE BASTARDS" Trump: "I've never liked GHINA Steve, let's do it".
  2. http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-roo...-ban-nationwide Good.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 05:05 PM) Heck yes! If it's chaos they want, chaos they will get. We have more power than they would like for you to believe. Money talks. via I guess that's good news for Uber and Lyft lol
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 02:08 PM) CNN's headline right now is "Shockwaves" about the immigration ban andcreaction around the world...an America that doesn't lead is scaring the hell out of everyone. http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/28/politics/don...tion/index.html Ayoub said his group has already fielded calls from people around the world impacted by Trump's executive order, including from students and legal US residents who are citizens of the seven countries banned by Trump and are now stuck overseas. He said his organization fielded a call from a student who was blocked in Turkey from traveling to the US and cannot return to her studies in the US as well as other students on international trips who now cannot return to the US. Ayoub said the executive order "is causing a really destructive impact on the Arab and Muslim community and on the Iranian community in the US." ... The International Rescue Committee, a humanitarian aid and refugee assistance group, called Trump's decision to suspend refugee admissions "harmful and hasty" and noted that the US refugee program "makes it harder to get to the United States as a refugee than any other route." Refugees must undergo an extensive vetting process -- it typically takes more than two years to be admitted to the US as a refugee. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldvi...m=.3222b8772960 Nobel Prize winner Malala "heartbroken" Trump closing the door on children fleeing violence.... Many foreign leaders said they were aghast over the new US policy. Iran answered in kind by saying it would ban Americans from entering the country, calling Trump's action insulting. But the US leader did get backing from Czech President Milos Zeman, who praised him for being "concerned with the safety of his citizens." Why am I not surprised? Czech Republic has a lot of neo-Nazis.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) And they've already been vetted. People seem to think it's super easy to get a green card here. It's not. Getting a green card is a very hard process. You have to realize that the majority of immigrants who get green cards do it through their employer or have to be endorsed by family members who are citizens. A lot of them have to work hard for it and they're very productive members of society. Locking them out does us no good.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) It's sad in so many ways. The fact that so many people love it is pathetic. If you wake up afraid of terrorism you are quite literally a moron. The fact it bans green card holders is ridiculous. Those people who are going to get locked out have lives in this country, most likely productive ones. Pissing them off and inconveniencing them is going to drive them to extremism...
  7. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) Agreed. I want the world to sanction the f*** out of us. Oh I can't wait until rich folks can't travel to Europe anywhere they want anymore...that'll make sure Trump reverses the ban right quick.
  8. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 10:25 AM) They got rid of Chandler Jones. Traded Jamie Collins. Lost Rob Gronkowski for the year. No big deal. See you in the Super Bowl. The Bears gave them 2 replacements for those guys, so yeah. We had a nice hand in helping the Patriots this year.
  9. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jan 21, 2017 -> 10:58 PM) Here's the thing that I think is lost on trump and a lot of republicans. After a very bitter presidential race, where the person who got the most votes, didn't win, this county needs to heal and be brought together. Only trump can do this. It was the same thing after 2000. Whether it was Bush or 9/11 the country came together rather quickly and moved forward.we don't need to agree on everything, but we need to be civil to each other. So either trump needs to do something to make this happen, or something will happen to all of us forcing this to happen, or this country will be in a very bad place 4 years from now. In addition people need to start acting better too. Including the asshole speeding down my sleepy suburban street today, with kids outside playing mind you, in his gigantic pickup truck with trump flags flying and his stereo at max capacity. Can trump be the "adult in the room" and bring us back together again??? You know the answer to that is no... See: how he and the White House Press Secretary reacted to the media's coverage of his inauguration.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 14, 2017 -> 09:48 AM) This whole China buying players for outrageous sums is starting to get out of hand. I know Costa is a head case but if they actually buy the best team's top striker, that's crazy. $30 million euros a year...that's hard to turn down, even if it's to go play in a pretty bad league. IDK though. It's basically money vs. career legacy.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 11:53 AM) I shut off that annoying Wiz episode about 5 minutes in. The water park one that aired last night was hilarious. I laughed my ass off when Frank went off the big slide.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 12:08 PM) Starting in 2026, the World Cup will be 48 teams with 16 3-team groups. That sounds beyond awful. And ruins all of the fun that is WC Qualifying Way too many teams and way too random. Good teams can get knocked out with one bad game.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 6, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) Finally gave up on Always Sunny after watching a few eps of season 11 on Netflix. Felt like a chore to get through with too few laughs. Should have ended the series a while ago. Season 12's been awesome so far.
  14. WatchDogs 2 is great. The story in this one is actually interesting and funny. They poke fun at real things/people.
  15. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 11:15 AM) Wow, people overvalue prospects. I don't like that that article doesn't take into account a very important economic concept while using the surplus value concept. This guy puts ZERO discount for risk on the Astros prospects. There should be a significant discount for risk on any prospect, at least 30%. To be fair, KATOH does take risk into account. But even then, I feel like it's somewhat optimistic. The hit rate on prospects isn't that high. Surplus value should also be looked at differently when your team is trying to compete the next two seasons and the guy you're trading for fills a huge hole on the team.
  16. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 11:06 AM) That article assumes that each of Musgrove/Martes and Tucker will be mlb contributors to a certain degree. Three 2 WAR players do not equal the value of one 6 WAR player, as 6 WAR players are vastly harder to find. That package really underwhelms me compared to the Sale and Eaton returns. If we don't get superior value we should hold out for better I hate using surplus value to evaluate prospects and just assuming they turn out to be competent. Especially when you are trading for an established player like Quintana who is more likely than not to give you 15+ WAR over the next 4 seasons. The reason why teams have given up multiple blue chip prospects for players like Quintana before is because prospects are a gamble. Maybe 1 in 3 good prospects turns into a good player. Add in the fact that the Astros' window is the next 2 years and Quintana's surplus value is exponentially higher than Tucker + Martes.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 09:50 AM) Greg, They didnt "hack our election". What they did was hack personal email accounts and then released certain emails to the public. So the real blame is on every American who didnt listen, who chose to care more about "lock her up" than the future of our country. The Russian's did what they had to do to try and beat the US. It was our job as American's to make sure that they didnt succeed. Its quite possible that the Russian's hacked Republican's, maybe even Trump. My guess is that if they have this information, they are going to use it for blackmail purposes. Perhaps as a way to get the US to agree to allow Russia to keep Crimea. Who knows, but you should be concerned. You opened the gates so that the barbarians could get in the castle, but its still not to late. All you have to do is make sure that congress investigates this with the same vigor as things like "Monica Lewinsky" and "deleted emails." You have to hope that there will be some Republican's who actually care about the people who served this country and died in service of the United States. Because anything less is a disgrace to them. They may as well have just sat home if you were going to let a foreign entity run this country. I made a plea months ago not to let this happen, I specifically addressed you. But in the end, you made a personal choice. So it wasnt China, it wasnt Russia, it was people like you. Sorry to be harsh, but sometimes people need a wake up call. The effects of Russian propaganda on Republicans
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 10:26 AM) Former USC quarterbacks look serviceable for periods of time, but are never the permanent answer. Carson Palmer?
  19. Advanced metrics guys will never like players like Anderson who can't walk. The fact his plate discipline hasn't really developed at all does not help.
  20. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:42 PM) LOL @ the guys on MLBN saying that this means guys like Frazier, Robertson and Avisail will be sold off Will someone please take Avisail from us?
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:42 PM) My sentiments exactly. Sale trade was a 7/10 to me, this is a 10/10. With how much Kopech's stock has risen in just the past few months, I think the Sale trade's probably a 8/10. Had we gotten Devers instead of Basabe, I'd rate it a easy 9.
  22. QUOTE (beautox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:38 PM) I can see the Astros and Rox being in play for Quintana or a mega Quintana and Abreu package both have the farms and needs. Would love Rodgers from the Rockies. But I think the ultimate prize is Bregman. I wonder if Abreu and Quintana could get that done. I honestly don't know if the Astros can get Quintana if they don't give up Bregman. Tucker and Martes are good prospects, but with what we just got for Eaton, that seems like a lowball offer. I think the compromise is that we package Frazier/Abreu in there to sweeten the pot. They need a bat at a corner position. I would love to see us get Bregman + Tucker as the main pieces in a Quintana + Abreu/Frazier trade.
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:25 PM) Twins message board guy who is apparently well-respected and has a source says Dozier for De Leon/Bellinger is close Dozier for two top 50 prospects is pretty insane considering how bad he was just a year ago.
  24. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:25 PM) Bob Nightengale@BNightengale 5:25 PM Several scouts and executives say they actually thought the #WhiteSox did better in the Adam Eaton trade than the Chris Sale trade. The potential surplus we got out of Eaton is probably just as high.
  25. We got Quintana for free and Eaton for Hector Santiago. And they're probably going to net us 5 top 50 prospects. That's insane...
