Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 10:37 AM) I guess that's something I couldn't care less about. If I'm going to pop on a 60 minute TV show to watch, I'll spend 3 seconds looking at the video player's UI. It matters when you're actually in the video player. MX has gestures to change brightness, volume, etc. in the player that Mobo doesn't have. It's a better player and the developers clearly care more about it. The ads only pop up when you stop the video, they don't actually interfere when you watch videos.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 10:12 AM) Seriously. ...and having to use adblock shouldn't be necessary. It's a great video player that plays pretty much everything. You can spend $5 to get rid of the ads if you want.

Why Can't This Team Contend In 2014?
The Sox would need all of their young players (Davidson, Eaton, Johnson, Abreu, Dayan, etc.) to break out and produce if we are to have any chance of competing.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 12:56 PM) Just install something like this video player and it doesn't matter where you save them on the device. You should try MX Player. Mobo is so old.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 09:54 AM) Question about ripping movies and putting them on an Android device. One thing I love about iOS is that you can import ripped movies/TV shows into a dedicated video playback program that organizes the videos. However, on Android, i don't see a way to do this. If I create a "Movies" folder, it shows up in the Gallery app. Is there any way to have these show up in the 'Play Movies & TV" or some other app that organizes them? This is one of the apps I use to organize my videos. You can even stream from your computer without having to setup much of anything. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...mizuu&hl=en You can also try Plex, which is $5.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 07:42 AM) I cannot wait to play the new Killzone sometime late next week - and of course, beautiful NBA 2k14. I thought I'd keep the PS3, but the more I think about it, I should probably sell it. I only got sports games for the PS4 and I still have unfinished games on PS3. I think I'll keep it until I finish the games I want to finish.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 02:07 AM) So you played a console and it didn't stand up to your PC? Well, that's revolutionary. In other news, the Yankees are still good. Like Steve said, I did play a port (although FIFA was supposed to be a very good port). However, you do understand that developers rarely develop specifically for the PC anymore right? So pretty much all PC games are ports, just with better resolution and AA. So of course I expected better from a next gen console considering the PS3 was basically a PC from 2006.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 05:27 PM) Ok seriously, why is it so f***in hard for people to say Alshon JEFFERY? Herm Edwardson just called him Jefferies on sportscenter. I just don't get it. Jeffery is an uncommon last name? The fact that professional broadcasters are screwing up his name is unacceptable. It's not like his last name is Saltalamacchia.

2013 Video Game Thread
I play a lot of PC games on my gaming rig, so I know what games look like with in 1080P with AA. I played the PS4 for the first time today (it was FIFA 14) and I was not impressed with the visuals at all. That said, I did get NBA 2K14 and Madden 25 for $20 combined after trading in 6 PS3 games and a controller.

Decker or Fred Jackson for flex? PPR league, but 20 yards per point with 2 point bonuses at 75, 100, and 150 yards. I'm afraid the Broncos will jump on Houston early and run the ball all game.

Sox trade Addison Reed to Diamondbacks for 3b Matt Davidson
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 02:52 PM) He so sexy Plus his bWAR goes from like 2 to 6 to 2 with the Sox, while it's pretty much a steady 4.0 with fWAR And it just so happens that the year he put up 6 bWAR, the White Sox lost 90+ games.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 02:14 PM) ESPN calculates their's differently too. I have no idea how they do it. I just compared ESPN's WAR and bWAR for a few players and it's exactly the same... I assume they used bWAR because it actually correlates better with a player's performance for a said year compared to that player's reputation. It's a little easier to stomach for the average ESPN viewer.

Sox trade Addison Reed to Diamondbacks for 3b Matt Davidson
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 02:24 PM) I am sure they have a factor for the size of the market they play in and an adjustment for how close they are to the East Coast. Derek Jeter's WAR is always his actual WAR + 2-3 WAR, depending on where the Yankees finish in the standings.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 02:05 PM) Yeah, Chili kind of just operates in a "my way or the highway" sort of fashion. I know why the statheads prefer fWAR but mainstream WAR is bWAR so that's why it's often easier to use on a message board. It is? Since when?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 04:28 PM) Just when you think things cant get worse, the Rose camp starts yapping again Is his camp stupid? Do they not understand that tanking for one of the best draft classes in recent history can prevent them from rebuilding at all? A core of Butler, Noah, Jabari/Wiggins, Mirotic, and Rose is a hell of a lot better than what we had this year before Rose got hurt.

Alshon definitely wasn't prepared and he definitely didn't care. Or maybe he's just a super boring person.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 09:57 AM) Safeties do a lot less tackling with Lance Briggs at LB. True. But our run defense sucked with Briggs in there. Brandon Jacobs ran for 120 yards on this defense when Briggs played.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 09:53 AM) Replacing Green with Briggs is a pretty big deal for a lot of reasons. Briggs starts making the calls, Anderson just has to play his position, the rookie LB group becomes a veteran LB group. Zack Zaidman said the other day that Briggs is still 4th in the league in run stuffs. Thats crazy Yeah, it stabilizes the LBs quite a bit. Our safeties still can't tackle though.
