  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 12:50 AM) Buck could definitely figure into the catching situation, although it's not ideal. DeJesus isn't a fit right now unless they trade DeAza. Pretty sure I heard Reddick needed surgery...not sure if they're willing to sell super low on him, BB's not stupid. Suzuki is going to have his option declined, so he and Buck would be lesser names for catcher. Still think they're not going to spend to solve the remaining problems (maybe a veteran LHP if we get closer to legitimacy)....they are going to have use either Santiago/Quintana, Beckham, Ramirez and/or Reed. Ideally, Semien would be at 2B. Someone mentioned Headley, Hanley Ramirez and Sandoval....those are all high-risk players. Sandoval for his weight and getting older and changing leagues, Ramirez will probably stay in LA if they're happy with him or he will be injury-prone and Headley just had a dismal season. The Blue Jays' Lawrie (not Jed Lowrie or Mike Lowry from Bad Boys) remains an interesting/controversial name that might be in play. Headley's price is about as low as it'll ever get. I'd be ecstatic to get a player like him (even his bad season wasn't that bad).
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 12:34 AM) All aboard the McCann train. If they could somehow someway nab Ellsbury as well, then Rick Hahn is a baller. I doubt we have the kind of money to get both.
  3. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 12:19 AM) What does everything think Cano is going to get? I would kill to see him on the Sox.. highly doubt they would spend the money needed but one can dream! I was just reading Cano supposedly asked 10yrs 300+... yikes no chance He's worth nowhere near $300 million. He would handicap your payroll for the second half of that contract.
  4. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 11:56 PM) I didn't want McCann up until about an hour ago. I think this team may actually compete in 2015 if they can add Abreu and McCann. With Abreu and McCann, I think they can compete next year. You get a nice middle of the order with McCann, Abreu, and Dunn.
  5. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 12:18 AM) Wonder if the agents would be involved if the Sox were negotiating a trade for one of the players they represent. Brandon Phillips is reportedly being shopped by the Reds. David Wright? Ugh, not BP. Doesn't walk, extremely overrated hitter.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 11:53 AM) so what's the deal with buying that for the ps3? you can upgrade to the ps4 version for 10 bucks? Yeah, it would be a digital copy. Then you can go sell back the PS3 copy.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 11:52 PM) Alright about to go play GTA and then hit the hay. Nugget: One of the Agencies who have been in touch "informally" with the Sox fairly recently has been ACES. Do some research and you can probably get some names. DeJesus, Byrd, Lester (unlikely)?
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 11:19 PM) Rumor that the 32gb model will have better battery That was a pretty bad rumor IMO, I doubt it.
  9. The New Nexus (Nexus 5) will retail for $349 for the 16 GB model and probably $400 for the 32 GB model. Needless to say, I will be ordering it when it comes out. Unlike the Nexus 4, this phone pretty much has everything you need (like LTE).
  10. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 10:53 PM) So does this mean we are out of the running on any of the potential OF free agents, I mean we should still have plenty of money to go around to add an impact bat and a catcher I'd imagine. I think we should go after Corey Hart. He's not going to cost a lot of money, so not a big risk.
  11. I think having Alexei and Viciedo on the team had a lot to do with getting him. Hopefully, he turns out to be as good, if not better, than Cespedes and Puig.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 11:25 AM) Set to view at 1080p and go full screen, this is crazy! Yeah, NBA Live has no chance. That looks amazing.
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 11:18 AM) That's a crapshoot. Any of those three can get you points. I'd pick Allen since Rivers focuses on hot receivers. Jennings may not get as many looks with Freeman starting his first game, and Williams may get chances, but he's not the primary guy in Dallas. I'm also leaning towards Allen. Just wanted to see if anybody had a differing opinion.
  14. Keenan Allen against Jacksonville, Greg Jennings against the Giants, or Terrance Williams against the Eagles?
  15. Bump. Need at least 2 players for my league. League details here: http://basketball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/nba/3193/settings Draft time still subject to change based on owner availability. PM me your emails if you want to join.
  16. Salty's the next logical option if you miss out on McCann.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 15, 2013 -> 06:02 PM) http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1609247...oyalty-rankings Here's one that ranks it Yankees, Phillies, Giants, Cardinals and Braves (not that anyone rates them so highly). The White Sox have always played second fiddle to the Cubs in the city of Chicago, but they have failed to consistently put fans in the seats even when they're playing well. The last time the team was in the postseason in 2008, their average attendance was just 30,877, or a little over 75 percent capacity at U.S. Cellular Field. Their attendance numbers declined to 24,271 last season (24th in baseball), and that was despite the fact the team sat in first place for most of the year. Unscientific. Five worst.... 5. White Sox 4. Marlins 3. Mariners According to Seattle PI, a study was done that shows the Mariners have lost more fans than any U.S. sports team in the past decade, as attendance has dropped 51.4 percent over the past 10 years. 2. A's 1. Rays Five best... 5. Red Sox 4. Giants 3. Phillies 2. Cardinals 1. Yankees Mariners less loyal than the Marlins...now that's funny.
  18. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 15, 2013 -> 05:50 PM) Yeah, me too! I figured it would be something like, "Man I gotta say all that matters is a win. A good ol' W. Whatever I gotta do to grind out a win, even if it lands me in a hospital, I will do. If my team doesn't hit for me, I gotta put the fire in them to grind up and hit more. Wins are everything and nothing else will ever matter." I think last year (where he went under .500, but pitched really well) really convinced him that W-L is bulls***. But he probably knew that beforehand.
  19. Verlander finally gave up a run.
  20. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 15, 2013 -> 04:58 PM) I swear I'm not trying to start a rehash of an unpopular debate on pitcher wins, though I'm aware it may happen, but it's the offseason and I thought this was interesting coming from the mouth of Jake Peavy, who has a reputation for being a gritty old schooler: Part of an article asking players about which stats that should be used to evaluate pitchers: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/players-vie...itchers-part-2/ Also, from Tyler Flowers: Peavy's the last guy I'm expecting to say what he said.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 15, 2013 -> 12:45 PM) Mother f***ing Watchdogs got delayed. It was a month away from being released, now it has been delayed until AT LEAST April. Cool, cancelling that pre-order.... Crap. Oh well, more time to play the other games I've yet to finish.
  22. Went 4-0 in my Yahoo! leagues this week.
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 14, 2013 -> 08:52 PM) It is amazing that he still got a triple out of that. I would imagine if he wasn't posing and watching the ball after contact, and hustling out of the box that he could have gotten an inside the park homer. He was MOVING He would have had it easy.
  24. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 14, 2013 -> 12:48 PM) Rowand, remember how we were talking about how you picked up Julio Jones since a guy dropped him without keeping it through? 2 days later that happened in my league, and I was able to pick him up. I don't think anyone else went for him either. He was a 2nd round pick, so the guy doesn't want to keep him for a 1st...but as a FA, he's now using a spot 3 rounds below next year's ADP. So likely a 5th or 6th rounder. No idea why he wouldn't just throw him on IR, but hey, thanks. I'm glad I created an IR spot this year in my league. I just threw him on IR. Not sure if this league will be a keeper league, but it doesn't hurt.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 14, 2013 -> 12:42 PM) Nothing new ever happens to the main cast. Rick is torn about something. The dude in the motorcycle is a bad ass. Carol likes him. The old Doc provides some advice via analogies. Glen and his gf suffer grief but hug it out. Carl lost the hat but now has too much hair, etc. The zombies are always good, and they were again tonight. But everything else is such crap in this show. The entire aside with Rick and the irish chick - what did that accomplish? What message was delivered there that we didn't already cover 4 times in prior seasons? Zombie apocalypses suck and you have to do awful things to survive? Hmm, that's new. I watch because the zombie kills are always excellent, but man it's upsetting that this show can't raise the bar a little bit. The governor was the best part of the show so far and i'm sure he won't be back until the end of the season (if ever). That Irish chick is going to kill someone important as a Zombie. Just watch.
