QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) You can remove/edit that in your mail settings if it bothers you. Yeah. I did mention that it is there by default. I knew you can change it.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 03:31 PM) Grammatical and spelling errors can be corrected before sending, even on a phone or tablet. If it's a short reply that's one thing, but otherwise it's just laziness. Or you were in a hurry and didn't notice...

Sox seeking LH bat
QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 04:45 PM) Except that any trade for Zobrist means you are probably dealing with some good talent evaluators and some pretty tough negotiators... Absolutely. I see no real reason for the Rays to trade Zobrist unless they're getting Chris Sale back. Or a trade for Alex Rios in which we eat like 90% of the salary.

Sox seeking LH bat
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 04:41 PM) Bernstein was saying that Phil Rogers IIRC was linking the Sox with Ben Zobrist.. personally would love this. Well Phil Rogers isn't exactly the most reliable source. But if this is true, then it's absolutely awesome. Zobrist can play anywhere and is a very good offensive player. You can even slot him in at 3B.

Your 2013 Chicago White Sox lineup
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 11:04 AM) This is going to be brutal. 1. RF Alejandro DeAza 2. 3B Jeff Keppinger (if healthy) 3. DH Adam Done 4. 1B Paul Konerko (is this the year of the massive decline?) 5. CF Alex "every other year" Rios (he's do for an "other" year!) 6. LF Dayan Viciedo 7. SS Alexei Ramirez 8. C Tyler Flowers (at this point he's going to have to start 162 games) 9. 2B Gordon Beckham That might, honestly, be the worst lineup in the AL. We have to expect regression from our best hitter in his age 36 season after watching his OPS+ plummet in the 2nd half of last season. Why is Rios playing CF and not RF?

Let everybody know!

QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 26, 2012 -> 06:30 PM) While Apple certainly outsold everybody else, there's something to be said about what products you think are worth tweeting about. Even if more people have a particular kind of tablet, the only ones with any name recognition are iPad and Kindle. I'm not about to make a facebook post about my ASUS TF300 because then I'd have to tell everyone what the hell that is. Same with all the people who wonder what a Nexus is, or have no idea that Microsoft made a tablet. This is very true. I guess it's worth saying "I'm typing this on my brand new iPad" since everybody will know what that is. If you tweet "I'm typing this on my brand new Surface", a decent amount of people will think you got a new table.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 26, 2012 -> 09:01 AM) I may be a homer, but I think Rodgers should win MVP again this year. Played behind a banged up o-line all year. Jennings and Nelson missed most of the year. He has an 18:3 touchdown to interception ratio on the road this year. 11-4 record. Although I have no problem with Manning or Brady winning it or Peterson if they make the playoffs. I think it's quite clear Peyton will win it.

Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 23, 2012 -> 11:11 PM) Is it ever worth it to upgrade your processor on a laptop? I've got an older Dell Inspiron 15 with an i3. I'm about to upgrade the RAM. Is it even worth it to try to upgrade the cpu. or should I just look into buying a new machine in the near future. It's only got 3 gigs of RAM currently. I'm getting 8 GB because it's so cheap. I don't think you should be upgrading the processor on a laptop yourself unless you are really good at working in small, fragile places (no sex jokes please) and have the ability to solder. It's also worth mentioning that it's very hard to obtain a mobile version of a CPU. So no, you should not bother upgrading your laptop CPU unless you mean upgrading to a new laptop.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 23, 2012 -> 09:11 PM) Assuming SEA holds on to this lead, the Packers can clinch the #2 seed with a win next Sunday. That happens and the Bears beat Detroit, Bears clinch the #6 seed, which most likely means they go back to San Fran in the Wild Card round. Uh oh. It's either that or Green Bay. First round exit either way.

The First Annual Steve9347 b**** about your Fantasy Teams here
So I'm in a half-assed league that I planned on getting 12 teams for...turned out we got 6 before I realized it was too late. Since it was meant to be 12 teams, we had a 6 team playoff. I didn't draft and I didn't care for the team in the regular season. Then the playoffs came around and I decided to just try a little bit. Luckily, I had AP and I got carried through the first two rounds. Then Romo went off for 48 points today and I've won the league...with a 4-9 record. Yay.

Sox seeking LH bat
QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Dec 23, 2012 -> 11:57 AM) If you watched that DBacks team this past season you would know how silly everything you just said sounds and realize I am right. I know the numbers sound crazy, but ask anyone who watched the Dbacks last year and they will tell you hitting .050 higher with an extra 10 hrs and 30 rbis was definitely possible. He was hitting .298 July 26th before the slide started. 90 games in. He had only 18 RBIs after July 25th, with 72 RBIs in the first 90 games. He had only 8 HRs after July 26th, with 22 HRs in the first 90 games. 90 games is a pretty good sample size, so he was on pace to hit around .300 sustaining the first 90 games. On pace to hit 128 RBIs sustaining that pace for 160 games. On pace to hit 39 HRs sustaining that pace for 160 games. With better protection that a slumping sophomore strike out king in Goldy, a streaky catcher for 10 games or whatever, and a super streaky hill for up to 10 games, or just keeping the pace he was at, he hits .300/39/128... There is a reason Kubel slumped later in the year. He was playing over his head and the league might not have adjusted to his tendencies. Remember, he played in the AL his entire career before last season. Then the league started to pitch him a certain way and he couldn't adjust. You can't simply just say that he should have hit 39 home runs based on a 90 game sample size and extrapolate that over 162 games. Go and look back at all of Kubel's seasons and tell me if he's really a guy who can put up .300/.370/.550. He's not and he only came close to doing that once. The sample size of his previous 5 year playing career is far greater than a good 90 game stretch.

How and why did you become a Sox fan?
QUOTE (Lamar Johnson 23 @ Dec 18, 2012 -> 10:32 AM) In the late sixties, I was a HUGE Ernie Banks fan, so I followed the Cubzzz, even though my father, older brother, grandfather, uncle were Sox fans. One day I was hanging out with my big brother and some of his friends and they asked me if I was a Sox fan or a Cubzz fan. I answered "both!". They said, "you have to choose one or the other!". Since they were older than me, and I wanted to hang out with them, I said "SOX!"...and I never looked back (or wavered) from that day on. I've never heard anyone becoming a Sox fan based on influence from peers or peer pressure. That's usually how people become Cubs fans...

Sox seeking LH bat
QUOTE (JoshPR @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 08:18 PM) We still looking at slugs? Bad defensive players?? We need to shore up the d, smart players that do the lil things, intangibles, that souls be the focus of the org from top to bottom Seriously Kubel is not the right way to go. Markakis makes so much more sense. He brings so much more to the table. I'm not saying we need guys with intangibles or heart and soul, I'm saying we need guys who aren't defensively challenged and are clear upgrades over what we have now. Don't trade for a guy just because he's left handed.

Sox seeking LH bat
QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) Kubel can be a MONSTER when he's hot. So what he fell off the last few months, that team sucked and he had no protection for him in that lineup. I watched him scorch the ball game after game here in AZ. He was one of the best hitters in baseball for weeks. He can spell tank vs RH or spell Rios vs RH. He's affordable, i just don't know what we have that AZ wants, although Towers is a terrible GM... Maybe Quintana and Thornton get it done? But that weakens our pen and rotation depth for a part time hitter...albeit a power LH hitter that our lineup needs. Tough decisions. Quintana for Kubel? Oh my god that's awful. Thornton too? That's like the Nick Swisher trade all over again. And the last thing the Sox need is an inconsistent hitter who just goes on hot stretches. We have too many of those guys.

Sox seeking LH bat
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 03:45 PM) Yuck on Alexei for Kubel. Way to make a hole on the infield when we technically have no holes in the outfield. Plus, I don't think AZ wants Ramirez anymore. They didn't even want Asdrubal Cabrera. They got their man in Gregorius.
