Apparently, Courtney Lee has signed with Boston, who had about $2 million of cap room to offer him. Just what the f*** was the Bulls front office doing? OMFG.

The Pierre-Viciedo Debate
Why is there even a debate? Juan Pierre's wOBA is like 8 points higher than Viciedo's this year and this is the best Juan's hit since 2009. If Juan Pierre needs to hit .310 to be better than Viciedo hitting .250, then there shouldn't be a debate. Mostly because Pierre's not going to keep up the .310 pace (because he's just not that good of a hitter, especially at this point in his career) and Viciedo sure as hell isn't going to have a .323 wOBA all year long. Both don't walk, both make a lot of outs, both are below average in the outfield. But at least Viciedo gives you pop instead of the occasional double Pierre MIGHT provide you. Did I mention one of them is 23 and the other is in his mid-30s?

Eh Radmanovic isn't a bad addition if he's signing on for vet's min.

Sox watching Sale closely
If they're so damn worried, stop letting him throw 110 pitches every start. Same with Peavy.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 06:44 AM) saw that dwight is ready to commit to an extension with the lakers, so assuming he goes to la(would be awesome): lebron/wade/bosh or kobe/dwight/gasol/nash? Lakers, easily.

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 06:10 PM) You guys always pull out one thing I say and fail to explore the reasoning behind my overall stance on Ozzie. But Rios has more money than Ozzie

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 05:18 PM) Good at least you admitted Rios sucked and Ozzie was only part of the problem. As far as what changed between now and then? Maybe Rios decided to earn his money and play to his talent instead of stealing money. And I have said over and over Ozzie's time had probably run its course in Chicago. Robin's will run its course as well. Managers are hired to be fired. If Rios is performing better because big bad Ozzie is gone, fine. Good for Rios. I am not discounting this possibility; no way of proving it either way. But I will never give Rios a pass for his s***tiness before this season and just say it's on Ozzie like some would like to say. How can you not love Rios? He's rich. Richer than Ozzie and YOU.

MVP so far?
Chris Sale for pitchers, Rios for hitters.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) Darko is world's better offensively than Asik. He can actually catch a ball, for starters. Have you seen his shooting percentages in recent years?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 03:20 PM) DKnobler @DKnobler Scouts still raving about Robin Ventura effect on White Sox: "I haven't seen Alex Rios play with this enthusiasm in three years." And Ozzie still thinks it's not fair to say the Sox are playing better despite him.

2012-2013 NBA thread
QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) I keep seeing on ESPN thatt the Lakers and Magic are trying to make a deal and the only thing stopping it is Howard not wanting to sign an extension. That proves Howard is flaky and not serious about winning, isn't the Lakers the top organization for elite players to join if they want to be in a top contender? You know they will spend to get top talent and there really isn't a negative joining LA? Can someone explain why he wouldn't want to be a Laker??? Brooklyn Nets, really?? SMH... He likes Jay-Z? Howard takes douche bag superstar to the next level.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) Bulls interested in Darko Milicic. Decline Asik, sign Darko. Save. The problem is that Darko's defense isn't as good as Asik's and his offense is more or less the same.

The Miami Marlins thread
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 09:37 AM) Has the story ever came out about who really had the biggest issue with Daniel Hudson? Was it Ozzie, Cooper or KW? That's the most refreshing thing about Ventura. Other than maybe Fukudome, there wasn't a single player this year who was unhappy. Maybe Santiago's confused about his role, but you have to believe Cooper, Nieves and Ventura have made him feel he still could or will be important to the team the last 72 games. I think that was on Coop. But in even farther hindsight, he wasn't wrong. Hudson's having arm problems. It was Coop who thought Hudson had high maintenance mechanics.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
QUOTE (Andrew @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 09:17 PM) Home plate ump should be shot.... Yeah, by the Boston fans. He gave the Sox a few calls, especially to Mike Aviles. 50 wins down, hopefully 45 more to go.

Morales has been starting for the last month, let's see how he'll fare as a reliever. I'd like to see an insurance run or two.

QUOTE (northside sawx @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) Looks like its gonna be another high pressure situation for another rookie outta the pen. This time it'll be Addisons turn. Take no prisoners. He'll face 8-9-1 in the lineup.

QUOTE (Wedge @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) I get the feeling yesterday wouldn't have been much different witty MT in the eighth. Thornton made one bad pitch.

It's a shame that Reed will have to pitch in this game.

I had a feeling Shoppach would hit one off Thornton.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) Pitching MT may backfire later in the series. Tomorrow seems like a lost cause. Thornton should be able to go on Thursday.

Hernandez gets the call Wednesday in Boston
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 08:49 PM) Hernandez profiles a lot like Quintana. Most thought he we would be a candidate to be a LHR coming into the season, but nobody ever would have predicted him starting a game for the Sox this season. They do. Hopefully, Hernandez doesn't lose all of his control like a lot of young pitchers do when they come up to the Majors.

Omogrosso's delivery looks an awful lot like Marc Rzepczynski's.
