Something has to be done to improve the rotation
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) Serious questions: 1. Name a team and their 3b who would want floyd. Are you talking Youkilis? I'll admit, I'm starting to warm more to that idea, but still don't like it much. 2. How many more bad starts will it be before teams decide that Floyd is busting and might not be a good acquisition? You simply don't give up on Floyd. Remember when Gavin had like a 7 ERA back in 09 in June? He pitches in spurts, a good streak will come soon enough once something clicks in his head.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 07:40 PM) If you use Cyanogen you'd have had that performance all along. The Cyanogen 4.0 is probably 50% faster than the release version, too. I did use CM7 and I'm using AOKP right now. It really just depends on what kernel you flash.

Paul Konerko All-Star Campaign
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 02:49 PM) New update: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...#voteupdate0611 Paulie K has moved up to 2nd, AJ moved up to 4th, and Dunn moved on to the list, at 3rd place. Still behind by about 250K. Hopefully, he gets on another hot streak to promote himself.

Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 04:26 PM) There is nothing to be impressed by...much like new Android updates...it's evolution of an existing product, not a dramatic revolution like Windows Mobile, which brings another entire slew of issues, like non compatibility, etc. Some of the changes in IOS6 are pretty nice...but they're still minor tweaks/updates, not radical shifts in the way things work. I thought Android 4.0 was a huge leap from 2.3 in terms of user interface and performance. 2.3 still felt like it wasn't good enough, I'm very satisfied with 4.0 so far.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 01:55 AM) iOS 6 being announced tomorrow (or later today technically) http://gizmodo.com/5917359/ios-6-new-featu...iphone-and-ipad I'm not that impressed. The Passbook thing looks pretty cool, but I don't know how useful it'll actually be. Most of the new features are just minor updates to previous functions. iPad 1 will not get this update.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 12:49 PM) Until he loses. He'll lose in the Finals unless the Thunder repeat what happened in that Mavs series last year.

Something has to be done to improve the rotation
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 11:16 AM) Maybe Cooper is the new Walker. It appears in all of baseball that so many guys have their first successful season as a starter and now get hammered when the league gets a second look. As for Greinke, he's a former Royal, a little over rated and the Sox have nothing to trade. They will be back to that "try to get the missing piece during the season" only to fall short and a future depleted. Greinke is far from overrated.

We're not getting Zack Greinke...dream on. Can you imagine our rotation with him? Holy fing f***. We just don't have the farm system to do it.

2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 08:50 AM) Shaq, Duncan, KG, T-mac, Vince, Kobe. This is without hesitation. You could argue guys like Pierce and Webber as well. Nobody who shoots 42% from the field (mediocre TS% of .518) is a top 5 player in my book. AI was arguably the face of the NBA at the time and everybody loves the little guys. But like I said, he was an inefficient chucker who either just refused to or was unable to adjust his game for the betterment of the team. He had nobody on his team. I agree with you that AI is inefficient and overrated, but you have to admit, he took a team with literally nothing to the Finals. That's impressive in itself. If he did have a better supporting cast, I doubt he has a 52% TS.

Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 09:11 AM) Let's just be glad this isn't pre-07' anymore...where there was only one choice for a "Smartphone OS", which wasn't very "smart". Windows Mobile 4.x, 5.x and 6.x were nearly identical in features, non-intuitive and generally just bad in design...take it from a user that used all 3, on multiple devices back in the day when I was searching for a non "feature" phone that would suffice as a portable. Then came iOS and Android around 2007-2008, and things change drastically -- for the better -- in the smartphone industry. Microsoft finally followed up with a good release of their own in WM7 a few years later, a drastic change/rewrite from their previously terrible implementation of windows mobile. That said, I'm happy iOS, Android and WMx exist. And it doesn't matter which you use. I'm actually very anxious for Microsoft's platform to take off a bit more. Right now, apps are very limited. As soon as they start getting more apps, I might consider it. The Metro UI interface is great for phones IMO (PCs, not so much).

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 06:49 PM) @lonestarball: 2010 1st rounder Chris Sale has a career bWAR of 6.7. That's higher than every other player taken in the 2010 draft, combined. But Keith Law said he would suck!

Substitute Gamethread: Sox vs Astros
Our bullpen's been fairly bad for the past 3 series. It's mostly the secondary guys' fault, but it's not like the primary ones have been exceptional.

QUOTE (black jack @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 03:17 PM) Not sure why Paulie wasn't sliding there. Someone remind me, who did they trade Harrell for? Nobody. Astros got him off waivers.

At least Adam Dunn's hitting homers again.

Substitute Gamethread: Sox vs Astros
This is flat out embarrassing. One of the worst innings of the year.

Substitute Gamethread: Sox vs Astros
Jones should have had Altuve on two really nice pitches at 99 on the outside corner. Ump decided not to call them.

What kind of a throw was that? Good throw gets him.

I remember when Floyd walked Schafer in the first game...only to give up a HR to Lowrie. Please don't let history repeat.

Substitute Gamethread: Sox vs Astros
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 02:29 PM) 461 feet. And believable. Maxwell has some serious power. He hit one at 470 in Coors (I know it's Coors, but still...). Looks like both Humber and Floyd have issues pitching out of the stretch.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 02:25 PM) Humber and Gavin with shockingly similar starts Lots of strike outs, home runs on high fastballs.

I never even saw that ball on the MLB.tv feed.

So yeah, Humber's start is looking a lot like Floyd's now.

Justin Maxwell's stance/swing looks a lot like Adam Jones'.
