QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 18, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) /shrug I hate all things Cubs, but I didn't think it was a bad thing to do. Wood had some of the most electric stuff most had seen, when he came up, but is sadly a perfect example of how mother nature > talent. They should have done the same for Sammy Sosa too.

Samarzdija had no hits coming in. WTF?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:08 PM) Samardzzjzlja leads off. hit him or wait for Starlin? I'd rather see him hit, then have to leave the game. Cubs bullpen sucks.

Hit him, but don't make it that obvious. Do it on the second or third pitch.

Avenge him, Rios.

Owww. I remember when Paulie got hit in the face by Pavano (I think) and stayed in the game. I think he homered off him in that game too.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:01 PM) Well of course he's better than a pitcher, but what is your point? He still is often times far away from his AL counterpart at that position. Making an AL pitcher bat as compared to the standard NL pitcher at the plate has a much smaller "talent" gap You have to look at this from a net gain/net loss perspective, at least that's how I look at it. At the end of the day, AL teams lose offensive output when you take into account the games they play in NL parks. Meanwhile, NL teams have nothing to lose.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) Who says you're adding a good hitter? It's laughable seeing some of the guys who get the DH role when the NL teams come to the AL stadiums You're adding a much better hitter than a pitcher. Pitcher wOBAs are like .160-.200. Even a replacement level bench player outproduces that by A LOT. Look at it this way. When AL teams visit an NL park, they replace a on average .350 wOBA hitter with one that might have a .150 wOBA, at best. When NL teams visit AL parks, they replace an on average .180 wOBA pitcher with a .300 wOBA hitter. You tell me who has the advantage.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:56 PM) The Cubs have to DH Reed Johnson & Joe Mather, while their opponents get to DH Dunn or David Ortiz. That's a big difference. They still don't lose a vital part of their offense like AL teams do.

It's the perfect game curse. Humber's had like two acceptable starts since it.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) Because while AJ was on his huge slide, Rios started knocking some guys in, and so Ventura flipped them. Then the next game, AJ started hitting again...but it's only been 3 games. I guess Robin didn't want to mess with success.

Why is Rios hitting in front of A.J. when A.J.'s been on fire recently?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:26 PM) I coached/played on company teams, started a couple teams on my own... this one, I moved to a suburb and didn't really know anyone or a team, so I just called the park district to see if they were taking any free agents. He had me email him a "softball resume" (that was fun to write), he sent it to the coaches of the teams in various leagues, and then I started getting emails from the coaches about playing. When did you inquire about your free agency? Right when the leagues started?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:08 PM) Its happening with fanbases everywhere. DRose shouldn't be playing he should be sitting, Dunn shouldn't be playing he might get hurt. Read fan comments anytime a significant player gets hurt, they shouldn't have been playing. The bottom line..........everyone might get hurt. They have been playing all of their lives, don't worry about it. Rose probably shouldn't have been playing though. It was like the equivalent of being up by 5 with in the 9th inning and having your starting pitcher still out there with 120 pitches.

Samardzija's been surprisingly good this season. 2.5 FIP to go with that low ERA.

Where the hell do you guys sign up for these leagues? I'm too old to play organized baseball now and I've always enjoyed how easy it is to hit in softball.
