  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 15, 2012 -> 09:41 AM) So we're calling Blake Griffin a superstar now? Those Kia ads have paid off for him, eh? His stats say yes. Watching him play though, not really. I was just trying to make a point that Vinny still sucks at everything he does.
  2. Just get back to .500 please. Oh and this is an opening day rematch, for those who did not notice.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 15, 2012 -> 12:49 AM) I turned this off when Danks left. Quite a nice surprise to see a win. Danks is garbage right now. He's not fooling anybody with anything. His velocity is down a 1.5 MPH across the board. Something's not right with him.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 15, 2012 -> 09:35 AM) Dude got handed Rose and couldnt figure him out. I love the "History speaks for itself" comment about the Clippers. Apparently he never heard about how Sterling abused Elgin Baylor I don't know why he's feeling like he's the s*** after he BARELY got by the Grizzlies with a team that had two super stars.
  5. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 15, 2012 -> 09:16 AM) I guarantee you Albert will hit at least one home run and drive four tomorrow and Wednesday. It looks like sluggers going from NL to AL over the past year has been very wacky. Dunn hit .160, Pujols looks like he might do something similar. Prince Fielder is hitting okay, but he has almost no power (I believe he has like 10 extra base hits this year). A-Gon was great last year, but is suffering from lack of power as well.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 15, 2012 -> 08:26 AM) Surprised Ryan Raburn isn't in that spot He should be, but he doesn't have enough at bats and his defense has actually been okay (unlike Boesch). Raburn has a 11 wRC+, 89% below league average. Pujols is at 34, Boesch is at 67.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 10, 2012 -> 08:52 PM) The foul not being called on Watson was a good thing, it should have let him dribble another 4-5 seconds before they could foul him. He just did the dumbest thing, gave the ball to Asik in a situation where the other team wants to foul. f*** you Watson, f*** you. He could have dribbled for like 2-3 more seconds had he just pulled up. Ugh.
  8. f***ing Spencer Hawes. That foul on Asik should have been a flagrant. He got him right around the neck.
  9. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ May 10, 2012 -> 05:51 PM) I was born in miami and now i live in chicago. The sox are my second favorite team. I like this forum because of greg and i also love watching balta and ss2k fight each other.
  10. Boozer comes up playing like s*** when it matters, once again...
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 9, 2012 -> 09:36 PM) I'm not crazy about Jones' Keith Foulke-like delivery. Why does he pitch that way? Jesse Crain's got a similar style (more similar than Jones' in fact), why aren't you complaining about him?
  12. Jake Peavy is straight up awesome.
  13. Bryan LaHair has a .500 BABIP. Yes, 50% of the balls he hits in play go for hits. That's unsustainable and incredibly interesting.
  14. I just wanted to point out that Alejandro De Aza has a .375 OBP. He's been quite the leadoff hitter.
  15. Rain rain go away. I need Peavy to throw some more innings.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 6, 2012 -> 03:23 PM) In hindsight, J4L is right, Bulls would have been much better off acquiring Mayo. Asik will never develop offensively. I sure as hell didn't expect anything from him on offense. I just thought he'd progress even more defensively, which he hasn't.
  17. I started watching the game a bit before Boozer got mugged and no call happened. The officiating sucked. Philly was basically looking to get to the line because they knew they'd get homecourt calls. Holliday barely got touched on his "foul" by Korver and Deng, he just made it look like there was contact. Igudola jumped into Asik and Asik got called for a foul when he stood his ground perfectly. Home teams do get an advantage in officiating, but those calls were so blatantly bad.
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ May 5, 2012 -> 09:34 PM) Vance Worley would work for me. Philly can afford to move a SP to shore up their bullpen. No way Philly will give up Worley for Thornton. Maybe Sale or Reed though (not sure I'd be okay with that though).
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 5, 2012 -> 11:43 PM) Too bad Chicago won't offer him squat. Maybe the Cubs, but doubtful. They've been burned by Wood, Pryor. Sox won't offer him more than 1 year 5 mill after getting burned by him last year; maybe one year 6 mill if he stays healthy all season. I do love Jake, though. Great competitor IMO. Unless Jake wins the Cy Young award this season, no team will be willing to offer him a deal over 2 years and $10 million per.
  20. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ May 5, 2012 -> 06:59 PM) they really like steve cishek, he's got balls of steel, but ozzie uses him like crazy So they wasted $27 million on a crappy closer... Cishek's got some great numbers, s***, he was better than Heath Bell last year. I don't see the Marlins going back to Bell anytime soon.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ May 4, 2012 -> 10:52 PM) Marlins scored 5 in the 1st inning. Josh Johnson gave up 6 in the 3rd to the Padres. That guy ain't right. Josh Johnson probably isn't healthy.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 5, 2012 -> 07:15 PM) So they said that ball, which cleared the bleachers, went 422 feet. The Centerfield fence is 420 feet from home plate. There is no way in hell that ball went only 422 feet That was more like 450, at least. Hit tracker should have the true distance up by tonight. FWIW, Hafner's hit the longest home run of the season at 481 feet. Video: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_...61&c_id=mlb I think Dunn's went just as far.
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ May 5, 2012 -> 06:13 PM) We're set up to have a dynamite pen for a while now. I really think Hector should be starting though. He has a starter's repertoire, and good stuff for a starting pitcher. It seems like the adjustment to the bullpen has been difficult and certainly unnecessary now that Sale is our closer for the indefinite future. If Santiago can't get 3 guys out in relief appearances, I don't understand how he's starter material right now. He needs to learn much better control if he wants a shot at starting in the big leagues. He should be down in AAA right now.
  24. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 5, 2012 -> 06:04 PM) I must have misunderstood Stone then. Sale throwing a single pitch more isn't going to screw his arm up. His mechanics are questionable to begin with. He's already thrown 30 innings this year, he didn't throw that many innings until maybe June or July last season. It's clear his frame and mechanics aren't fit for a major league starting pitcher. I hate Keith Law, but he might have been right on this one from the beginning.
  25. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 5, 2012 -> 05:57 PM) I wonder if it's the slider or the change that's hurting his arm. It's the mechanics.
