  1. QUOTE (G&T @ May 29, 2012 -> 09:16 PM) Looking back at it is unreal. Ray Durham, Frank Thomas, Paul Konerko, Magglio Ordonez, AND Carlos Lee in the same lineup. They hit .286 .356 .470 .826 as a TEAM That was also in the steroid era. But yeah, that team was awesome on offense.
  2. QUOTE (G&T @ May 29, 2012 -> 09:18 PM) You are wrong. Stoney is amazing but Hawk got board with him. However, DJ and Farmer have to be launched. They are awful bad. To be clear, I have nothing against Paciorek, but Hawk always pushes guys out eventually. DJ and Farmer are funny as hell. They kind of suck at describing the game (especially DJ), but they have good chemistry and can be fun to listen to.
  3. QUOTE (59th street @ May 29, 2012 -> 09:14 PM) I truly enjoyed the broadcast the last two nights. Granted the games were great entertainment on their own but I think Paciorek brings out the absolute best in Hawk. Stone adds absolutely nothing to the broadcast and has coasted on his media reputation from his old cub days in my opinion. If Brooks Boyer is listening he would realize that Tom Paciorek is much better than Ed Farmer, DJ and Stone. Bring back the Wimperoo. GO GO WHITE SOX! Stone is a professional analyst. He does a good job, but he's not a great pair with Hawk. They're different personalities. Wimpy doesn't do a bad job per se, but It appears that he and Hawk are just more comfortable together.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 29, 2012 -> 09:10 PM) I said move Boozer TO SF. That my friend, was ungreen sarcasm. Oops. My bad. But still, my question remains. Who can we get for Boozer that has a similar contract, but is a semi-productive SF?
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 29, 2012 -> 08:54 PM) 804 OPS On pace for a .280 average, 36 homers and 88 RBI's (and that's not considering the fact that he sat quite a few times in April and early May, so his overall numbers COULD be even higher with everyday playing time from here on out). 3 months of el perfecto Cubano weather, too. He didn't play in 4 games. He just needs to walk some more.
  6. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 29, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) Minnesota still scares me Remember when the Astros were 15-30 and went on to win 88 games in 2005? Yeah...
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 29, 2012 -> 05:38 PM) It's simple, we move Boozer to SF. Who though? Easier said than done. I'd like Igudola, but that ain't happening. No way Philly takes on Boozer with Brand. Besides, I think they know how bad Boozer is in some aspects of the game.
  8. The most fun I've had outside of 05 was that incredible streak in 2010. Now that was fun. This one feels a lot like that one.
  9. HE GAWN! OVA! 7 in a row! Series win against a good team! First place too!
  10. Will Hawk stop with the "haven't overthrown the cut off man" crap? I'm pretty sure we must have had a bad throw to the cut off man at least once.
  11. lol Lobaton. You don't run on Tank's arm.
  12. Santiago's BB and K don't look bad at all. He's just given up way too many home runs for his peripherals to look good.
  13. Not worth the wait!
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 29, 2012 -> 08:21 PM) Balta, I know what your response will be, but our offense seems so much more well-rounded with ODawg in that 9th spot... If he doesn't get on, he at least works the count. Morel more or less struck out on 3-4 pitches 40% of the time.
  15. Nice outing by Humber. Bullpen should take it from here.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2012 -> 08:05 PM) Filthy slider by Humber...much better command as the game is going on He hung one there. Gotta get Matsui out. Pitch around him if you have to.
  17. Good to see the offense come back to life again.
  18. QUOTE (nhsamtmcspnut @ May 29, 2012 -> 04:37 PM) meow roof roof b****!
  19. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ May 29, 2012 -> 04:45 PM) Looking at the best candidates for the starting 9, it looks like an early conspiracy with Texas Rangers fans may benefit the Sox, if they are game. -They promise to vote Konerko and either AJ and/or Dunn -We promise to vote Hamilton (no brainer) along with Beltre and Kinsler. The pitch being, why vote for those overrated/overspending bastards in NYC/Boston/LAA.? Maybe Cano is a little better than Kinsler and the Trumbo better than Beltre, but not so much so that they deserve it over the Rangers players. So, who has the phone number for their fan representative? I'd say Beltre's still a much better player than Trumbo. Trumbo will regress.
  20. QUOTE (balfanman @ May 29, 2012 -> 01:09 PM) I don't think the Sox will finish behind them either, but I don't think that they are that bad. They gave the Sox fits when they were bad. It wouldn't suprise me at all if the Royals take the seasons series from the Sox. That's very possible. Our inability to beat KC has really screwed us over in the past few years.
  21. QUOTE (balfanman @ May 29, 2012 -> 01:04 PM) I believe that Kansas City is well above 500 other than there 12 game losing streak, not exactly gimmes. Not saying, I'm just saying. They're still bad and I don't see the Sox finishing below them somehow.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 29, 2012 -> 12:53 PM) The only thing I don't like about throwing all these numbers around is that they were profoundly influenced by the last 10 games or so. Certainly everyone's numbers have been influenced in that way, save, say the Rangers, who have probably been the most consistent team in the AL, but I think we need to see a bigger sample size before we start focusing too much on all of this. If we are indeed the favorite to win the division, it is because our division sucks, first and foremost. Secondly, it's because the Tigers have drastically underperformed to this point in the season. However, despite the fact that that could indeed last all season long (see 2011 White Sox), I think we need to expect them to start winning more ballgames. Let's get the starting pitching straightened out a bit, continue to win games at home, and continue to win series'. If we do that, everything else will take care of itself. That is the issue with stats that this point in the season, but hey, I was just giving him some material to say to his stupid Cubs fan friend.
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ May 29, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) I looked at the numbers of PK-Thome-Dye in the 2006 season and I can't believe that team didn't make the playoffs. I've reached the conclusion that numbers don't matter. Look at the pitching numbers, you'll see why we didn't make the playoffs.
  24. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 29, 2012 -> 12:33 PM) Hes already admitted to this, he says both teams are garbage...he thinks the sox will still finish 4th in the division. My logic behind why this team will compete seems pretty legit to me. Ask him how they will finish 4th. He does realize that Kansas City and Minnesota are awful right? You don't somehow have a garbage team when you have the 2nd best run differential in the AL after 48 games. That just doesn't come out of thin air, you have to be doing something right. The Sox are 4th in the AL in runs per game and tied with the Yankees. Yeah, the Yankees. They're 5th in team OPS. They have the 5th best ERA+ and they're 6th in runs allowed. The Cubs? They're averaging a whole run less than the Sox on offense, good for 3rd to last in the NL. Their team ERA+ is the 4th worst in the NL. So you have one team that's in the upper third of almost every offensive/pitching category in the stronger league and then you have another that's in the lower 4th of everything in the weaker league. Ask him to enlighten you how both teams are somehow in the same garbage echelon. Please tell him to do some research before he speaks again.
  25. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 29, 2012 -> 12:28 PM) i posted this in response to my buddy whos a cubs fan calling this team garbage...."a year removed from being "all in" which was their attempt at winning a title. They got rid of Buehrle and replaced him with Chris Sale which is an upgrade (minus the innings). Replaced Carlos Quentin with Dayan Viceido which is at the very least a push. Replaced Juan Pierre with De Aza which so far has been a clear upgrade. Replaced Sergio Santos with Addison Reed which is an upgrade so far, and most importantly the replaced last years Dunn, Peavy, and Rios with the real Dunn, Peavy, and Rios....Thats my explanations as to why i think the sox will compete and at the very least not be "garbage" Is my logic really that off?? I mean its hard to believe you sox fans on here dont see this. His logic is off for calling this team garbage... Just tell him to look at his team. That is the definition of garbage.
