Wow, the Nats offense is awful. They're getting 1-hit by Ryan Dempster.

And Ross lines one right to Peralta... Valverde's lucky he didn't lose the game yet. Good to see him finally blow a save though. That lucky bastard wasn't going to save everything.

MLB Opening Day 2012 Thread
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 5, 2012 -> 02:32 PM) Verlander at 108 pitches with two lefties coming up in the 9th wonder if he stays in the game. I hope he does. I have him on my fantasy team and a 60+ point performance would be awesome.

You can cancel the postgame show. I really wanted to see the Marlins get no hit, it'd be a nice bomb on their little hype party.

New Park or Not Same Marlins
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 3, 2012 -> 12:17 PM) "They're getting paid a lot of money to perform," Guillen said. "If they cannot play, somebody will play. They make the lineup. I write it down, and [bench coach] Joey Cora prints it. That's what we do here. If you play good, you make the lineup. If you do not play good, somebody will make the lineup. We'll put in somebody else. This is not an easy job." Had to chuckle about that line. As far as Yankees' fans, you have all the transplanted Northerners who retire in FL, PLUS the fact that the Yankees have always made their spring training home in the state as well as the fact that the Steinbrenner family is from Tampa. Lots of ties to the region. Yankees will always be the biggest draw on the road in MLB, for the foreseeable future. So what part of the first highlight is supposed to be hard? Sounds pretty damn easy to me Ozzie. Plus, isn't it Ozzie that makes the f***ing lineups? lol

Sox ranked #24 in Fan Graphs organizational rankings
Last year's #24 was Washington. They're now #11 this year. Things can change fast. And let's not forget the dreaded #6 organization. The Mariners were #6 two years ago and fell on their face. The Twins were #6 last year and also fell on their face. Whoever's #6 this year might be screwed too... In other words, FanGraphs rankings give a good idea of which team will fail badly (the #6 organization that is) and really doesn't tell you too much about anything else.

Danks named Opening Day Starter
QUOTE (sunofgold @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 06:36 PM) I am a little bit worried about Danks in that first game. First opening day start and playing against his ex-team. Hope that I am wrong. Win that first game and we can win that series. Danks hasn't been bad against the Rangers. He's got a 3.81 ERA against them in his career. I remember him throwing some gems in Texas.

Santiago to be the closer? Hmmmm....
Whatever happens, please don't make Crain the closer. There's a reason Twins fans nicknamed him Crainwreck. I'm willing to give Thornton another chance now that Juan Pierre is gone and won't miss routine fly balls anymore.

Oh and I also saw the new Spiderman trailer when I went to see Hunger Games today. Emma Stone actually looks really good with blonde hair. That movie's a must-see for me.

2012-2013 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 22, 2012 -> 11:08 AM) Blah? Did you see some of the games he had last year? This is a great signing. I'm almost curious is we are letting Forte leave after next season with this pick up. Love to keep em both for a long time. Bush saved my fantasy team after Jamaal Charles tore his knee open.

2012-2013 NFL Thread
QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 22, 2012 -> 10:56 AM) and not a ton of mileage for a guy who has been in the league 4 years - good goal line back....pretty solid deal all around. I have to think this means bad things for forte -franchise forte this year, maybe again next year, draft the next long term RB in the next 2 drafts, and have bush around to back up Forte for now, and maybe start if need be for a year after Matt is gone I think the Bears made the right business decision in not giving Forte a deal last year. Running backs don't last forever and a long-time (not to mention pricey) investment in any RB is a risk. It certainly sucked that Forte hasn't gotten his big payday yet, but he's making, what, $6-7 million this upcoming year?

2012-2013 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 22, 2012 -> 10:53 AM) Kind of a blah move to me. I wouldn't trust Khalil Bell and Marion Barber again. Bell's alright, but it looks like he coughs the ball up way too much.
