Yankees Acquire Pineda for Montero
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 08:02 PM) Kuroda is one year for $10m Fair value. He's a 3 win-ish pitcher. So he's worth about $15 million in terms of WAR $.

Yankees Acquire Pineda for Montero
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 07:40 PM) Dollar value? Wow, the Yankees rotation just went from crap to good. 1. CC 2. Pineda 3. Kuroda 4. Nova 5. Hughes/Burnett/Garcia That's solid.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 09:06 AM) The AMOLED is about 100x better looking. EDIT: and that's coming from a guy who doesn't have one, but has friends with them. I also learned yesterday that the Sensation gets a lot of dust under the screen, which never happens with an S-AMOLED since the screen is fused with the glass. Yeah, I'm definitely leaning towards the Galaxy S II. I can't stand dust under a screen, especially if I'm going to spend $400 on a phone.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 05:41 PM) Not sure what that stat is, is it assist/touches? The other things that will play into it, at the percent level, are what kind of guys each player gets to pass the ball to and where guys fit in the offense. No one is going to leave Derrick Rose open to double Luol Deng, whereas a great number of people would leave someone open to double Melo, thus creating an assist opportunity for Melo in a case where Deng has a clean shot. (And yes, this still does not mean that Deng is better than Melo, I'm only disputing the use of that statistic). AST% = 100 * AST / (((MP / (Tm MP / 5)) * Tm FG) - FG) So it sort of takes touches into account (with FG), but not completely.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 05:34 PM) Now wait, I actually agree with you that Melo >>>> Deng, but there's a layer here you've forgotten...and that's touches of the ball, and how the ball is in people's hands. If Carmelo is in an offense where the ball is in his hands a lot more (almost certainly true), and the team builds the offense around Carmelo as an offensive threat, then Melo's assist numbers are going to be higher simply from him having the ball in his hands more. Carmelo does have a higher assist % (by like 4%).

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 04:55 PM) Um, what? OK. I see the correction. And? He's been more durable. He's not a better player. AK47 hasn't even come close to what Deng did last season in terms of win shares since 2003. Durability = value.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 03:42 PM) SF's better than Deng: LeBron Durant Melo Pierce Gay AI2 Wallace Granger Marion AK SFs arguably better: Wright Gallinari Butler Hedo Hill Deng is somewhere in that third-tier. *Facepalm. I hope you're trolling. Deng was 4th in Win Shares among SFs last season. How the hell is Marion better? And I sincerely hope that AK is not Andrei Kirilenko. You might have been right a few years back, when Deng couldn't stay healthy and wasn't the player he is now. But to say that Deng is not a top 10 SF is just wrong.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 11:35 AM) LOPEZ!?!??!?! FOR REALL!?!?!?!?!?!? LOPEZ?!?!?!? BROOK LOPEZ IS SH*T, even if we ignore his current injury. Of that list, Aldridge is probably 4th, given his knack for staying healthy... though obviously Bynum has bigger upside. Also, you neglected to put Blake on here. 1. Howard 2. P Gasol 3. Love 4. Aldridge 5. Blake 6. Bynum 7. Bosh, maybe, but f*** him then on and on and on... I bet Z-Bo fits in here when healthy. like f***in 18. B. Lopez I forgot about Blake somehow, lol. But Lopez is not that bad. He's been a 20 PER player for the past few years. Sure his defense and rebounding are below average for a big man, but the guy is fairly efficient and can score.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 08:54 AM) Aldridge should've been an all-star last year and should be a shoe-in to make it this year. He's elevated his game considerably the last couple years. Yes, they're only a handful of "superstars" in the league. Then you've got the next tier. I think Aldridge is in that tier. And the dude just turned 26. He could get better. As far as big men go, yeah, I should've been more clear. A "big" man today is not the same as 15 years ago. Dirk is an outlier. He's one of the most unique talents to ever play the game. I don't think of him as a "big" man. I was thinking more along the lines of 6'10 and up guys. And I don't look at Kevin Durant as a "big" either. Just in case you wanted to throw him out there. Aldridge isn't a superstar. I tend to think he's a top 20 player. He might be top 5 among big men, but even then, you have Howard, Love, Gasol, Bosh, Randolph, Lopez, and Bynum as competition. Just thinking about it, he'd probably rank 4th or 5th in that list of guys.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 09:58 PM) Fair enough. I hate Manu. I always draft him in fantasy and I always end up regretting it. He's so damn good when he's on the court. My league has an IR. One of my friends stupidly dropped him. I picked him up and stashed him. I'll make use of his services in two months. I'll have Wade, Manu, Thornton, Paul George, and Matthews as my SGs. Can you say depth?

But they would definitely have a case. There's a reason Dwight wants out. And it's not because he loves Jason Richardson. Spurs depending on if Manu is healthy. But he's always hurt. So might have to eliminate them. There's no way the Spurs are better.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) Darn you, Pennington!!! I think that was the game...A's? There were too many in that 4-18 stretch to count. At any rate, WHY WHY WHY haven't the Marlins signed Juan Pierre yet? What gives? Rowand was bad enough, but...just saying. I am waiting for the "Rowand Watch" when his career is rejuvenated and he single-handedly wins the NL East with his mythical "staring death in the face and not blinking" defensive abilities. Ozzie has Bonifacio down there (wasns't too bad last year) that is a very similar player to Pierre, just a lot more versatile. But Pierre should be destined to be with Ozzie again.

2012 Video Game Thread
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 11, 2012 -> 11:38 PM) A bunch of MLB '12 videos just came out. During one of the videos talking about full MOVE control, the guy demonstrating said you CAN mix and match, which is HUGE. So I can do a franchise of pitching/field w/ the Dualshock 3, and then swing the bat w/ the MOVE. Awesome news. Also, they said there is a new mode called "Diamond Dynasty". The name is all these released, but they said it is "a new mode not seen in any other sports game, not football, hockey, or basketball." Said they have been working on it for 4 years now. I'm really pumped to hear what it is all about. I don't know if I should get The Show for PS3 or get the Vita and get the Show on that. The move functionality is really intriguing, but I'd like to have a good excuse to get a Vita.
