  1. Rios' current stance is basically what it was when he was with Toronto.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) The cream has really risen to the top in the NL. Only six teams over .500 out of 16, and that's with a pretty close interleague this season. 8 out of 14 AL teams are over .500, but the Rays and Jays have no chance of making the playoffs. The Yankees, Red Sox, and Phillies are locks for postseason, so right now only 9 teams are going for 5 spots. 18 teams are kind of out of it with about 50 games left. The Pirates sure didn't help themselves by losing 10 straight. Sucks for the fans in Pittsburgh. At least they have a good football team to look forward to.
  3. AA is easily my favorite GM right now. He gets great young cost-controlled talent by buying low. Guys like Escobar and Rasmus aren't huge gambles because they're cheap to begin with. If they fail, then so be it, you didn't spend a fortune. But if they succeed, then your net return is so much greater than acquiring a guy making $10+ million by trade or signing said player. In addition, guys like Escobar and Rasmus have shown that they can play at a high level before. They're not prospects, they were guys who had off years due to circumstances out of their control (in this case, it was their managers having a problem with them). A change in environment can mean a lot for a young player who doesn't get along with the man in charge and it's not like you lose your ability to play baseball in your mid 20s.
  4. For once, Ozzie didn't compliment the Twins before the series and look what happens! It was always mental with this team when it came to playing the Twins. This Twins team freaking blows, it was about time the Sox treated them like the crappy team they really are.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 04:29 PM) The last time the White Sox swept the Twins at all was April 21-23, 2006. The last time they swept Minnesota in Minnesota was June 29-July 1, 2004. It's been a rough few years. I clearly remember the Sox kicking the Twins' ass in a 4 game set at the Cell in 08. One of the most enjoyable series for me in the past 5 years.
  6. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 07:38 PM) Ugh... another tease series for the sox after getting their asses handed to them by the Yankees. Thought some of you would learn by now. Now if they go on a run from here and take the next few series then that is different, but that is usually not the M.O. of this organization. Hey, they swept the Twins...in Minnesota! I don't view this as the Sox having life left in them, I view this as one of the best accomplishments of the decade! Unless the Sox get themselves back above .500, I will be heavily indifferent.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) i think a lot of the problems with soldier field lie in the drainage and heavy usage of the field for so many different sports. the grass just never recovers, and the concerts, high school football, college football, and soccer games just kill it. it has been years and years of the same thing, even after the base of the field was redone and heaters installed after the renovation. it just doesnt work Roger Bossard can fix this (assuming he hasn't tried already, I don't know).
  8. Anybody have a PS Move with a sharpshooter? Is it worth it for games like Killzone 3?
  9. Buehrle picked a good time to have his best season since 2005. I wouldn't overpay him, but I'd love to have him back.
  10. Don't let him near Greg Walker. That is all.
  11. This game was 13-1 in the third inning? lmao!
  12. How the f*** do you go to your owner and say "If you want me back, you need to do this, this, and this" when your team is 4 games under .500 in August with the largest payroll in team history? Arrogance be damned.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 09:37 AM) Tatupu is from San Diego but grew up in Massachusetts so I don't think he's Hawaiian. Rather, he's Samoan. I knew he grew up in California, but the name sounds so Hawaiian, so I thought he had to be of Hawaiian descent.
  14. Happy birthday guys! I have a feeling J4L is gonna drink until he blacks out.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 10:22 PM) Yes Bears, go get Lofa Tatupu! +1. That would make one hell of a linebacker unit. Although we'd be replacing one Hawaiian (Tinaisamoa) with another (Tatupu). lol
  16. That Indians rotation is a lot more legit now. Masterson and Ubaldo are deadly in a short series.
  17. Brandon Allen has been freed!
  18. Wow...*facepalm
  19. Can we please get above .500?
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) Rangers get Koji Uehara for Chris Davis and Tommy Hunter Wow, that's a lot for a reliever...
  21. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:55 PM) Ibanez is still in the line-up. Brown is going back to AAA. Ewww. What a shame. I guess they don't have the balls to bench a guy making $10 million.
  22. Tigers get Fister for Furbush and Casper Wells. Ugh. The good thing is that the last time Detroit got a starter from Seattle, it was Jarrod Washburn and he sucked.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:47 PM) I don't literally mean that. But I do think they're the most obnoxious fanbase there is. At least they know their baseball (for the most part). I say Cubs fans are worse.
  24. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:48 PM) Braves might become even more desperate now that their division rivals just grabbed a significant upgrade. They're going to win the wild card unless they start playing like crap. The D'backs and Cardinals/Pirates/Brewers aren't better than Atlanta.
  25. It's amazing how one hitter can change how good a lineup looks: Before 1. Rollins 2. Polanco 3. Utley 4. Howard 5. Victorino 6. Ibanez 7. Brown 8. Ruiz After 1. Rollins 2. Victorino 3. Utley 4. Howard 5. Pence 6. Brown 7. Polanco 8. Ruiz Having that good right handed hitter to break up the lefties means a lot. We might have gotten half the haul Houston got for Quentin. Good for the Phillies though. And I love how this thread turned into a tweenage girl discussion for half a page. xD
