Cooper and/or Ozzie status could affect MB coming back next year
QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 08:38 AM) If Mark stays, we have to keep him away from facing KC. They finally have assembled a pile of hitters that he just cant get out. Melky Cabrera kills Mark Buehrle every time. I don't know what it is, but Melky has Buehrle all figured out.

Put together your Soxtalk coaching staff
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 06:21 PM) It's part of the Internet world that resembles my old Queen of Martyrs grade school playground. I find it very interesting myself, this world we call message boards. Just because I disagree with the popular view I am evil and/or mocked. I don't care, though. I am a Sox fan like the rest of the people with more than 500 posts. And this is a playground not life and death. Nobody says you're evil. But people mock you here because they find it hard to have an actual discussion with you on any topics concerning Ozzie Guillen, Bobby Jenks, and a slew of other things on which you have an unpopular opinion of. It's fine to have a differing opinion as long as you're willing to prove that your opinion is noteworthy enough for other people to take seriously. Otherwise, people mock you. It's not just like this on the internet...this applies almost everywhere in our society.

Corey Patterson drops the last out of the game for the Cardinals when they could have moved within 3.5 games of the WC. Once a Cub...always a Cub.

LoMo filed a grievance against the Marlins for sending him down earlier this season. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/l...iles-grievance/ The odds of the Sox getting LoMo in a trade just went up a bit more.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:59 AM) Just learned that the Royals are the first team in league history to have 3 OFs with 40 or more doubles in the same season. And only one of those outfielders is actually good and will be good for a while.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 11:24 PM) Danny Richar. I really don't know what the f*** I saw in that guy. Saw decent numbers in the minors when we traded for him and figured he would... actually I don't even know. Damn. This is kinda embarrassing. Hawk was also high on him. But then again, he's high on every Sox prospect.

Josh Fogg and Aaron Miles... Forgive me, I was ignorant and still in middle school when those two were around.

Beane on Pitt playing him, Moneyball movie
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 09:26 AM) You realize Royce Clayton is in Moneyball, right? He plays Miguel Tejada. That's so bad...haha. At least the actors that play David Justice and Scott Hatterberg don't look that out of place.

Who benefits the most?
QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 09:19 PM) So if the papers are to be believed and we see an entirely new coaching staff outside of Coop next season, which player benefits the most? I've got to go with Gordo. This is a guy who we has exhibited a beautiful swing and approach in the past and has "adjusted" right out of it. I look for Gordo to start being the guy we thought he could be if he has a new hitting coach and manager. Considering how Oz talked s*** about Gordo in '09, I don't get the feeling that Beckham likes playing for Ozzie.....and Walker should've (did if not for JR) lost his job because of the way Beckham is swinging the bat now. Every hitter but Konerko will benefit when Walker is gone.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 08:20 PM) Pitch fx has had him at about an average velocity of 95 since he came up, and in 06-07 he'd occasionally top 100. He had a yer in 08 where he didn't hit 100 then he brought it back. 08 was also his worst season. He either had dead arm in 08 or stopped doing what he did before that. I'm not sure how long he can sustain throwing 100 though.

I'm starting to think Verlander is on PEDs. Since when did he throw 101? He threw 97-98 max when he first came up in the majors.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) B.J. Upton with a slam. Rays up 8-1. lol. Only 3.5 behind Boston after today. Now people can stop b****ing about how horrible this September is because there are no interesting races. We've got two now. Upton absolute massacred that ball. That thing went at least 430 feet.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 02:35 PM) When I was standing up for Jenks he still was earning a lot of saves. In fact, didn't he blow a similar amount to Sergio? And I like Sergio. And Matt? He was really good as closer this year. I said last year I was in favor of closer by committee with Jenks struggling some. Jenks was nowhere near as bad as Done. No, it's not that. It's the fact you got all offended when people made Bobby Jenks fat jokes last year. Now you're doing the same to Dunn. Oh the irony.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 02:42 PM) Wow that was a great play. Sucks for Cutler to have that as his first INT (and dropped numbers for those fantasy people out there.. ). Very few people actually start Cutler as their QB though. He's my backup.

Looks like Cutler has to throw an interception in every game, his fault or not.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 02:03 PM) Then I'm wrong. I've been wrong before. This new Sox trend of blaming the manager not the player, though, is boring and troubling. I guess the Cubs blame their manager for years now for playing Soriano and not just benching him. And all the fans of players who suck blame the manager for playing them. I'd prefer to blame the fat ass player. This is so ironic. Remember Bobby Jenks last season?

Absolutely loving what I've seen from the Bears today. They could be up by more, but I'm content with a 24 point lead.

... it's about time
QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) Beckham never failed before pitchers started to make their adjustments to him. When he started to fail, he never knew how to get out of a struggle prior, and the majors isn't the place to learn. Look at Tank, they let him learn and take his bumps in the minors.. Now he is showing progress since last year. Tank had no plate discipline when he came to the Majors. Beckham was everything fans expected when he came up in 09. Decent power, good walk rate, ability to hit consistently. He was Major League ready. But if you look at his peripherals these past two years, you'll see he's nowhere near as patient (walk rate has dropped 2% every season since 09), his power is gone (100 point drop in ISO), and we all know the story about his batting average. Those two guys' development can't be compared.
