  1. Thome hit a lot of opposite field home runs with the White Sox. I don't know why everybody thought he always pulled the ball. 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 Thome hit at least 1/3 of his home runs to the opposite field and at least half of them weren't pulled from 2006 to 2010. You can tell by just staring at the charts. Part of this was probably because his bat speed was declining, but I don't think you can say he was selfish by saying he always pulled the ball. Especially when a good amount of home runs he hit were to the opposite field, more so in the past few years.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 20, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) Nice work. And lol at CQ's UZR and DR projections. What's sad is that would be a substantial improvement over the debacle that was his 2010 defense. I just took his UZR/150 from LF. I did that with the hope that his foot injuries are now healed somehow.
  3. Well, AP being out just screwed my fantasy team. But who cares about that. Bears have a much better chance to win now.
  4. Oh what the hell. They could have avoided all of this in the first place by playing in Detroit. So stupid. This totally f***s with the Bears.

This is a 6.4 win improvement. All offensive stats were taken from Bill James' Handbook. The defensive stuff was mostly done by me based on career UZR/150 values at said position. If the pitching holds up, the Sox could win 95ish games with this offense. I know the Morel projections are overly optimistic, but that's not exactly my doing.
  6. Kearns signs with Indians for $1.3 million. I've wanted Kearns on this team since the start of the off-season. Oh well. At that price, he would have been a nice 4th outfielder.
  7. Wow, two straight weeks of playing in harsh weather. This totally sucks.
  8. lol @ Freddy as the second best free agent pitcher remaining. I'd take Jeremy Bonderman or Brad Penny before I give Freddy any kind of good money. The risk you take by signing any of those three is about equal and both Bonderman and Penny have much more talent than Freddy at this point.
  9. QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 10:29 PM) Well the Bucs havent totally drowned yet. If the Packers can beat the Giants and then the Bears can beat the Packers, then Tampa still has a chance. That's assuming that the Giants would also lose their last game and the Bucs win out. I believe the Giants have the best in-conference record right now and the Packers and Bucs are both 6-4. It's a long shot, but it's possible.
  10. Well, that was very bad clock management. Bears can clinch with a win tomorrow.
  11. Come on Pats D, stop the Pack here.
  12. Home runs aren't used in calculating BABIP. So those doubles that turn into homers aren't accounted for at all when BABIP is calculated. Plus, since the fences are in closer, outfielders tend to play closer to the infield, meaning less squib hits and duck snorts and maybe even less line drives for hits. That, or it's because our hitters love to hit fly balls due to the park, which I can say is somewhat true.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) Do the Brewers have anyone at the back end of their bullpen? John Axford, LaTroy Hawkins, Todd Coffey, and Carlos Villanueva? Axford was pretty good last year, but the rest I listed were meh at best. The Brewers haven't had a good bullpen for a while.
  14. Brewers should have a pretty good shot at the Central if everyone stays healthy (especially Marcum). A rotation of Greinke, Gallardo, Marcum, Narveson, Wolf/Parra is pretty good.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) Cubs fans are dumber than I ever imagined. Apparently if you take 2009 away Greinke is Ryan Dempster. Not realizing the undeniable fact that Greinke will be even better in the NL. Then a couple other idiots claim the Royals got "fleeced." Pathetic. lol, who said the Royals got fleeced? This is a great deal for them.
  16. Glad Greinke is out of the AL Central.
  17. lol, if I'm the Brewers, I would ask Moore to take Betancourt back.
  18. This year's game has a lot more additions than last year's game from 09.
  19. I really doubt Rowand was on PEDs. Although he did look kinda ripped. Especially for a guy of his size.
  20. The Yankees will go very hard after him I imagine.
  21. QUOTE (Cali @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) I havent touched a baseball video game in forever, but is it some kind of rule to NEVER get The Cell to look right in any of them? Every picture I've seen it just looks slightly off They don't have the rights to put the McDonalds thing on the top of the scoreboard or all the other actual ads at the Cell. They also can't put all the murals in left center field since they don't have the rights to put certain player who were not part of the MLBPA in the game. It's complicated with these things.
  22. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) I miss EA's MVP series. I just purchased a used '10 The Show and its hard to get used to. 2K's license runs out after next year. The return of MVP baseball is coming.
  23. Freddy's good for our current situation. He won't come very expensive and we probably won't need him for more than 2 months.
  24. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) Did Byrdak sign yet? No. I wouldn't mind if we got him though. Although if Ozzie plans to use him against right handers...I don't want him anywhere near the team.
  25. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 10:17 AM) Count me in the group that will be skipping this year's game, to be honest. I'm not too keen on analog controls for pitching, and I can just download an updated roster set prior to the season for MLB 10 and it'll still look great. You can revert to the old buttons if you want to... I really wanted them to integrate Move for the whole game, that would have sold me the Move and this game. I'm still waiting to see how 2K11 comes out. If that game's as good as the first screenshot looks, I might skip the Show.
