QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 28, 2011 -> 02:56 PM) Hmm, well...I guess we'll take that. Oh s***, now McPherson is in for PK if it stays tied...great. What is with Ozzie's love with McPherson? He's worse than Dunn at the plate, is bad on D and is slow as hell.

So Dunn walks 8 times in the last 3 games. He sandwiched a 4 K game in between. That must mean he's gonna K 4 times tomorrow.

6 man rotation
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 27, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) Then don't punish him until he proves unsustainable. Ride this out until he reverts back to bad, IF he reverts back. SS2K's right, Humber's gotten a bit lucky so far. His BABIP is only .210, part of the reason is that he's not allowing many line drives, but a .210 BABIP isn't sustainable. I think Humber could end up finishing the year with a ERA in the high 3s, a figure that is supported by his curent FIP and tERA.

Why not? The official "Alex Rios Sucks" Thread
QUOTE (Lillian @ May 27, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) When Toronto's GM, Rizzo, just let the Sox take Rios and his contract, I was elated. Now I think most of us think that K. W. probably did the Blue Jays a big favor. His contract runs all the way to 2015 when a 13.5 million dollar option, or a 1 million dollar buyout, would complete this horrible deal. In the meantime, he will cost the Sox about $12.5 million a year. For my part, I've seen enough. The end of 2009, the second half of last year, and this horrendous start tell me that he is not worth $12 million now, and I doubt that he will be any better as that contract matures. He has pretty much gone down hill since the promising beginning of his career, and at 30, I doubt he will improve much from here. I wonder if the Yankees are desparate enough for pitching that they might agree to a swap of Granderson for Rios, if the Sox included Jackson. The Yankees would acquire a centerfielder to replace Granderson, and they would fill one of their big holes in the starting rotation. I understand that Granderson will probably not continue to hit homers at his current pace, but he is a left handed bat, and could either lead off, or bat in the middle of the order, providing the left handed presence that Dunn was supposed to give the Sox. Moreover, his contract is shorter, which I personally like. Then all they would have to do is find a way to get rid of Dunn's horrible contract, and his unbelievably bad performance in the A. L. What National League team is desparate enough for power and has anything the Sox could use? If there is such a potential deal out there, please Kenny, put us all out of our misery!! I think you meant J.P. Riccardi. Not Mike Rizzo.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 27, 2011 -> 01:07 PM) That's a bad idea. Perhaps it would work with Russell Westbrook instead. But this last series showed me that Rose's PG skills are pretty meh.

6 man rotation
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 27, 2011 -> 12:57 PM) Is it fair to say Danks and Jackson are fairly close though? If so, I think you have to error on the side of Jackson for multiple reasons... Going forward, they probably should produce similarly. Damn it Phil Humber, why did you have to be so good? Did we ever think we'd have to make this kind of decision when the season started?

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2011 -> 01:00 PM) He's easily the best defensive point guard in the draft. What's the chance the Bulls take him, develop him as a PG and let Rose run more like a SG on offense? Because Shumpert obviously has the size to guard 2s.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) Yes, the Bulls love Shumpert and it was the main reason he declared for the draft. His combine numbers were as good as anyone's seen in a long time. He'd be a great fit as a defensive point guard off the bench. His shooting isn't very good, but he's a great passer and someone who will flourish under better coaching. I simply am stunned that more experts don't have him as a first round pick. If I had to pick between Shumpert or someone like Darius Morris, it would be an easy decision. I just read the scouting report on the guy, he looks like a great fit for that 30th pick, assuming he's still available at that pick after his great combine numbers.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 27, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) The Grizzlies didn't want to deal with the Bulls and the other option was Courtney Lee. And Asik is more valuable than him. There weren't many options unless you wanted Anthony Parker. I am beginning to think that Iman Shumpert will be drafted by the Bulls. He is blowing up right now so may not be there. Fathom where are you? Would he big a good fit w/ Rose? I like his size, length and athleticism. I'm just not confident in the front office's ability to pull off a big deal for a big name player. The last two big name players the Bulls signed (Wallace and Boozer) have turned out like crap and I don't even remember the last time the Bulls made a blockbuster trade (unless you somehow count the Salmons and Miller trade).

6 man rotation
Based on performance right now, it should be Danks. He has the worst peripherals out of all the starters. Humber's probably the best starter on the team right now, putting him in the bullpen isn't really an option. It has to be between Danks and Jackson. If you put Danks in the pen, you lessen your chance of retaining him. Jackson is the better pitcher right now, but you're most likely going to forget about him after this season anyhow. It really depends on how the front office views the outlook in the next few years. Personally, I think the 6 man rotation is working fine.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (flavum @ May 26, 2011 -> 11:41 PM) Indians, Sox, and Tigers all have 30 quality starts. Indians 23-7 Tigers 20-10 Sox 18-12 Masterson and Tomlin are 18 for 19 in QS. That's not going to last, and that's why they'll come back to earth. Masterson is the real deal. He won't be as good as he has been, but he's got talent. Tomlin on the other hand...yeah he's a mirage.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 26, 2011 -> 10:52 PM) It seems like nobody is giving Dallas a chance. I don't get that. They have a better offensive supporting cast than we do and play good enough defense. I think it will be a fun series. Neither OKC or Dallas play that good of D.
