  2. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 06:21 PM) It's amazing how people who typically love the higher level stats are alright with Jenks leaving based on the eye test, while those that typically go to the eye test are looking at the raw numbers. Because sometimes, the eye test works better, especially with FIP. Jenks had Javy Vazquez disease last year. I think I've made myself a promise to never look at Javy's FIP and xFIP ever again or believe in it.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) Yes. He was hated in Cleveland and considered to be a locker room cancer in Utah. http://www.sportsviews.com/blog/49991/The_...cers_in_the_NBA Who wouldn't want to get out of Utah? That's not the best place to live. Besides, he liked it there so much that he re-upped with them two off-seasons ago. I don't buy that. I also found this to be funny as hell. So if he's a nice guy and all, how does that make him a locker room cancer? Because he's hurt a lot? The hell? It's not like he fakes his injuries and just sits on a La-Z-Boy while everybody else plays or something.
  4. QUOTE (joeynach @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 08:32 PM) I think a lot of us are wondering what our team is going to do with Peavy in limbo for potentially half the season. I know most of us would prefer to find a better alternative than Freddy Garcia again and I think a solution may have just presented itself. The Brewers with a full 5 man rotation after acquiring Grienke and Marcum have broken off talks with Chris Capuano. While he missed the 2008-2009 seasons recovering from Tommy John surgery I think he might be a great fill in candidate and swing man for our team. Last year with the Brewers he compiled 66 IP between a couple spot starts as well as out of the pen and posted a 3.95 ERA with 7.4 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9. While far removed from his full seasons of work in the 2005 and 2006 seasons I believe Capuano would be an serviceable and affordable candidate for this swing man role the sox need. He could easily make 10+ starts for the Sox while they wait to see what happens with Peavy's return, and can pitch out of bullpen as our 3rd lefty if/when Peavy returns. I think KW should make a play at him, something like 1 year 4M + Incentives should do it. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/12/brew...th-capuano.html Capuano's gonna get nowhere near 4 million.
  5. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 06:39 PM) What's the knock on Saito? His numbers look outstanding, don't get why he's getting considerably less (under $2 million according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy) than a lot of these guys on the market are getting. Just his age getting in the way? Yeah, it's probably the age. He's like 40 something.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) For what closer? Axford, one of the best relievers (statistically) in all of baseball last year.
  7. Phillies re-sign Romero. Brewers add Saito. I'm guessing Saito will be a setup man.
  8. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 10:40 AM) Brandon Marshall might be available via trade, given his so-so season in Miami. I know the Dolphins just acquired him but I think Sparano might be gone and Parcells might leave too. Depending on the new regime, the Fins might be willing to part with Marshall for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. I know he might be a serious headcase, but Cutler has undeniable chemistry with him. Marshall makes a lot of sense because of Cutler.
  9. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 10:14 AM) I seriously do not think Phil Simms watches the game. He called a Sanchez pass that was ovthrown a perfect pass than he says Holmes slows up on a route when the ball was behind him. He is a disaster. He also has no idea what a freaking pass interference looks like. He complained about every PI call/non-call the entire game.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 10:11 AM) You can do it if you have a replacement coming back, but you can't survive with Asik, Thomas, and Scalabrine as your non-Boozer big men for the next 6 weeks. Hopefully Noah should be back before the trade deadline. I think a lot of us would be okay with that trade if Joakim was healthy.
  11. Brewer's actually been a ~15 PER player this year, which I found surprising. His PER is actually slightly higher than Deng's. With Noah out and our big men depth being the way it is, there's no way I would trade Taj. Not for Stephen Jackson at least.
  12. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 09:30 AM) That damn Tom Brady has only 4 picks this year. He hasn't had one since week 6. Thats just silly. Simply a result of being really good and lucky at the same time. He's thrown a couple of balls right at defenders and they just straight up dropped them.
  13. I'm pretty sure the ratings are gonna be bad for that Seahawks and Rams game. Both teams are bad and the only demographics they're going to draw are the fans of the two respective teams.
  14. Dotel signs with Toronto, 1 year $3.5 million.
  15. That's probably the ugliest win of the year.
  16. NVM, Detroit had a foul to give. Korver's shooting.
  17. My goodness, Deng better make both of these free throws. Losing this game would be epic fail.
  18. Epic meltdown by the Bulls, wow...
  19. T-Mac is owning Luol and Brewer in this 4th quarter.
  20. Free throw shooting has been awful the past couple of games.
  21. QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 06:49 PM) tampa may be the worst 9-6 team ive ever seen though ....i know they don't make their schedule, but the teams they've beaten: cleveland, carolina, cincinnati, st. louis, arizona, carolina again, SF, washington, and seattle.... Which is why they won't make the playoffs unless the Giants and Packers lose next weekend. They'd also have to win. Their strength of victory is terrible.
  22. Keith Bogans hitting two 3s? The hell? Boozer is making Ben Wallace look real bad too.
  23. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 06:10 PM) ESPN Gamecast has Manning rushing for 27 yards to seal the game.....what? I didn't even know Peyton Manning could run.
  24. That's such vandalism Heads...
  25. Josh Freeman has 5 TDs...holy crap. 34 fantasy points I left on my bench. Looks like the Rams are going to be the lucky ones out of the West. Seattle's getting owned. TB still has a chance since the Giants are getting owned by GB.
