June 19, 201213 yr Axelrod will be recalled tomorrow to provide an extra arm in the bullpen...[/quote I hope they start him and move Humber to the bullpen.
June 19, 201213 yr QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) Hopefully for Stewart...... Unless someone else is hurt, that is the obvious move.
June 19, 201213 yr well this is nothing but great news. If he becomes the starter for Humber it's even better
June 19, 201213 yr QUOTE (onedude @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 06:55 AM) well this is nothing but great news. If he becomes the starter for Humber it's even better Time for DA to come back. C'mon back Dylan, Brenda has been asking about you.
June 19, 201213 yr So we trade one HR-prone pitcher for another. At least Axelrod tends to give up solo shots.
June 19, 201213 yr Axelrod is still listed as the Charlotte starter tonight. Doesn't necessarily mean he's not sitting in a Chicago hotel right now, but they haven't officially done anything yet.
June 19, 201213 yr If true, good. I have no idea if Axelrod can pitch at the major league level, but his AAA numbers have earned him the chance to try.
June 19, 201213 yr QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Jun 20, 2012 -> 02:19 AM) If true, good. I have no idea if Axelrod can pitch at the major league level, but his AAA numbers have earned him the chance to try. Terry Doyle, Deunte Heath, Veal and Bruney say hello as well. There's more than numbers in judging prospects vs. suspects.
June 19, 201213 yr QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 02:30 PM) Terry Doyle, Deunte Heath, Veal and Bruney say hello as well. There's more than numbers in judging prospects vs. suspects. The usual rule of thumb, and the one the Sox scouts have repeated, is that in the end, the hitters will tell you.
June 19, 201213 yr IMO, he'll be the long man. Humber will stay as a starter. (not that I remotely agree with this)
June 19, 201213 yr QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 02:40 PM) IMO, he'll be the long man. Humber will stay as a starter. (not that I remotely agree with this)I don't know where the line will be drawn, but they won't stay with Humber if he keeps being this bad.
June 19, 201213 yr QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 01:30 PM) Terry Doyle, Deunte Heath, Veal and Bruney say hello as well. There's more than numbers in judging prospects vs. suspects. Doyle says konnichiwa.
June 19, 201213 yr Terry Doyle, Deunte Heath, Veal and Bruney say hello as well. There's more than numbers in judging prospects vs. suspects. You're absolutely right. But, Stewart has already shown us that he can't pitch in the bigs. The jury is still out on DA.
June 19, 201213 yr It's about time . This move was highly predictable given the state of affairs on the staff.
June 19, 201213 yr I pick Humber over Axelrod for now. If you're going to replace Humber with someone, do it with Castro (ie someone with talent) I will confess I probably would have said just about the same about Quintana, but at least Q was young. If Axelrod wants to do what Q did, which is earn a rotation spot when he gets a chance in the bullpen that's fine with me
June 19, 201213 yr Now official, and you heard it here first! Chicago White Sox @whitesox The #WhiteSox optioned RHP Zach Stewart to Class AAA Charlotte and recalled RHP Dylan Axelrod from Charlotte today.
June 19, 201213 yr Chicago White Sox @whitesox Axelrod is 5-4 with a 3.18 ERA (24 ER/68.0 IP) and 66 strikeouts in 11 starts with the Knights this season Axelrod was with the #WhiteSox from April 27-May 5, going 0-1 with a 3.52 ERA (3 ER/7.2 IP) in three appearances (one start).
June 19, 201213 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 07:41 PM) I don't know where the line will be drawn, but they won't stay with Humber if he keeps being this bad. There needs to be a line drawn at some point, but I don't know when it will be either. Maybe after the All-Star break. I would have thought they would have done it by now, but that perfect game looms in the background. You always hope he can turn it around
