White Sox (63-48) @ Orioles (37-74), 5/5 Game THREAD
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 07:51 PM) Did Dayan's foot get caught on the bag during the transfer? Yeah, but he still should have had the transfer easily. He rushed it.

QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 07:49 PM) Please tell me you're kidding. IF Q man's up and does his job right there Rios' contribution to scoring that run is just as great as the man who knocks him in. If Rios gets a hit there, we'd be leading 2-1. There's the difference.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) Haha at Quentin and Pierre HBPs. I don't think Pierre has been hit hard all season though. Carlos has actually gotten hurt from those. A lot of Pierre's HBPs are the product of his big jersey.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 06:45 PM) I like the way Hawk is calling every fly ball a hang whiff em That lillibridge one wasn't exactly a line shot That's what I would call a fliner.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 06:37 PM) And yet AJ is still in there with his .195 average against LHP I'm sure Ozzie has his reasons. It's most likely his "gut" feeling...

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 06:34 PM) So what are the chances Jones is odd man out when/if we add a bat? Kotsay can PH. Lillibridge can be CF. Teahan the corner spots. None really. His occasional home run and his defense are actually quite valuable off the bench.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 06:33 PM) man, is this a split squad game? Jones, Viciedo and Lillibridge? Matusz is left handed.

Hey Andruw, don't break your back swinging...okay? And maybe you can think opposite field once in a while.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 06:30 PM) According to ESPN Gamecast, Matusz is really getting squeezed. There were 3 balls to Quentin that were in the zone. Gamecast is crazy inaccurate.

Rarely do you see line drives being a bad thing. In that case, the line drive cost Dayan a home run.

The slider is working well. These Orioles hitters are chasing them well out of the zone.

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 12:32 PM) It would be funny if that happened, but really there's no reason to lose tonight. We should dominate Matusz tonight. If we didn't dominate Bergesen, Millwood, or Guthrie, I don't know how we can dominate Matusz. This offense needs to wake up.

Reds get Jim Edmonds for Chris Dickerson. Good trade for both sides I guess.

So I wrote something about the White Sox
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 11:38 AM) You guys can thank Ozzie for playing the match ups for Dayan. I don't know if we should be thanking Ozzie for limiting his playing time. It could be helping his numbers, but the flaw in xBABIP is that it takes the average into account for everything. So it usually does not project power hitters very well since power hitters hit for a higher average on fly balls than the average Bill Pecota. And I think it's fair to say that Dayan is a good power hitter.

White Sox (63-48) @ Orioles (37-74), 5/5 Game THREAD
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 11:50 AM) I guess it depends on how you define "must-win", because the absolute worst position the Sox can be in after today is tied with the Twins with 50 games left. You sure wouldn't like to be tied with the Twins going into a huge series like the one coming up. Plus, this is the Orioles we're talking about. Losing 3 of 4 to them would make this a horrendous road trip.
