  1. Glad Greinke is out of the AL Central.
  2. lol, if I'm the Brewers, I would ask Moore to take Betancourt back.
  3. This year's game has a lot more additions than last year's game from 09.
  4. I really doubt Rowand was on PEDs. Although he did look kinda ripped. Especially for a guy of his size.
  5. The Yankees will go very hard after him I imagine.
  6. QUOTE (Cali @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) I havent touched a baseball video game in forever, but is it some kind of rule to NEVER get The Cell to look right in any of them? Every picture I've seen it just looks slightly off They don't have the rights to put the McDonalds thing on the top of the scoreboard or all the other actual ads at the Cell. They also can't put all the murals in left center field since they don't have the rights to put certain player who were not part of the MLBPA in the game. It's complicated with these things.
  7. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) I miss EA's MVP series. I just purchased a used '10 The Show and its hard to get used to. 2K's license runs out after next year. The return of MVP baseball is coming.
  8. Freddy's good for our current situation. He won't come very expensive and we probably won't need him for more than 2 months.
  9. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) Did Byrdak sign yet? No. I wouldn't mind if we got him though. Although if Ozzie plans to use him against right handers...I don't want him anywhere near the team.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 10:17 AM) Count me in the group that will be skipping this year's game, to be honest. I'm not too keen on analog controls for pitching, and I can just download an updated roster set prior to the season for MLB 10 and it'll still look great. You can revert to the old buttons if you want to... I really wanted them to integrate Move for the whole game, that would have sold me the Move and this game. I'm still waiting to see how 2K11 comes out. If that game's as good as the first screenshot looks, I might skip the Show.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 01:41 PM) Eric Patterson, he of the career slash-line of .224/299/.353, was the PTBNL is the Gonzalez deal. Wow... Remember when Eric Patterson was on the Cubs? Speaking of San Diego, they did get O-Dawg, 2 years $11 million. What's funny is that he's being paid as much as A-Gon, so he's literally A-Gon's replacement on the payroll.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 11:24 AM) Yankees sign Pedro Feliciano. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=5929488 Two years, 8 million with an option for a third year is what's being reported. Pretty good deal for them. Feliciano's a good reliever.
  13. QUOTE (joeynach @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 07:55 PM) Who on earth is going to take Teahen for 2 Years and 9M. Who I ask you. Ed Wade.
  14. QUOTE (pktmotion @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) Wow Billy Beane is absolutely enamored with OBP. Between DeJesus/Barton/Willingham they should have an overall OBP pushing 400! OBP is great, but when you're relying on Matsui as your main power source. I'm afraid all that hard work has gone to waste. If they only had a legit slugging threat... Regardless Im always happy to see Oakland do well, their teams/players are always fun to watch. They probably shouldn't rely on that much power, especially since they play in one of the best pitcher's parks in baseball. I do like their lineup though. DeJesus LF Crisp CF Barton 1B Willingham RF Matsui DH Suzuki C Kouzmanoff 3B Ellis 2B Pennington SS There's a lot of OBP in that lineup and you'll get decent power from Willingham, Matsui, and Kouzmanoff.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 05:57 PM) Who's in the market for an $11-12 million dollar a year closer coming off a down season 1 year away from free agency? Nobody comes to mind. But if Boston thinks they can use Jenks as an 8th inning guy, they might be thinking the wrong way.
  16. Wow, Kerry Wood really wanted to pitch for the Cubs again, huh?
  17. So I'm guessing Papelbon's getting traded. Because Bobby as anything but a closer would be scary.
  18. Bobby's going to get eaten alive in Boston if he pitches like he did last season.
  19. http://www.pastapadre.com/2010/12/16/trail...mlb-11-the-show Mauer on cover again, but the Show just keeps getting better.
  20. QUOTE (joeynach @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) UPDATE My calculations have the White Sox committed at $108.85M to 16 players for 2011. This includes: Buehrle (14M) + Peavy (16M) + Jackson (8.35M) + Floyd (5M) + Thornton (3M) + Crain (4.3M) + Castro (1.2M) + AJ (2M) + Vizquel (1.75M) + Viciedo (1.25M) + Ramirez (2.75M) + Konerko (12M) + Teahen (4.75M) + Rios (12M) + Pierre (8.5M) + Dunn (12M) This does not include arbitration eligibility for Quentin (4.5M estimate), Danks (5.5M estimate), Pena (2.2M estimate). This does not include team controlled salaries for Sale (400K estimate ), Morel (400K estimate), Santos (400K estimate), Lillibridge (400K estimate), Beckham (600K estimate), Gregor Infante/Internal Bullpen (400K estimate). This includes the break even money coming in for Pierre (+3.5M) and the money going out for Linebrink (-3.5M). 2011 Payroll Commitments + Estimations = $123.65 (25 Players) This has to be the highest payroll in team history. I think 08 was pretty close to this figure, but wasn't that around $121 million with money from the Phillies for Thome and some other stuff?
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) This board's obsession with Joe Cowley is getting old. Every thread has Joe Cowley talk. Everyone, get over the fact that he ripped Soxtalk once! That wasn't even a rip on Cowley. That's just me saying how crazy we're in our current situation when it was doom and gloom not so long ago.
  22. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 12:14 AM) Gotta think Wood = revenue for the Cubs. More so than just any old reliever signing, at least. The Cubs fans love their Wood.
  23. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 11:27 PM) He better produce for that term and those numbers. I don't want Linebrink part 2. Linebrink had a bunch of nagging injuries. Crain's been healthy for most of his career.
  24. QUOTE (Ranger @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 11:04 PM) Who says Downs was intersted in coming here? This is fantasy baseball. There are a lot of variables to signing players you want to sign and the market can change over the course of several days. Oh, then I'd like to trade for Joakim Soria. What if Kenny didn't like Downs for some reason? What if Kenny preferred a right handed pitcher instead of a left hander? Could all be possible, but there's no question Downs is the better pitcher and would give you a better return.
  25. Also, don't forget that Cowley said 2011 could be "The Kids Can Play II" about a month and a half ago.
