  1. Zack should have flat out said something like - "fire Dayton Moore already, he doesn't know how to build a team".
  2. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) The same Joe Nathan that blew 6 saves in 2008 and 5 saves in 2009. . And how many of those were 3 run lead blown saves...?
  3. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) We got great starting pitching! We got a great bullpen! We got great defense!!! We got hitting currently above average! We have the best manager in all of baseball! We even have one of the best mascots in the game (Southpaw could kick the Phillie Fanatics ass!!!) Start making the rings now....nobody stopping this World Series run!!!! I'll drink to that!!!! :cheers :cheers Southpaw FTW. BTW, are you drunk?
  4. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 07:39 PM) No, its utterly and completely useless. A lame attempt to find a credible stat that ties individual production to team winning, which would circumvent the argument "the stat that matters is wins!". Did Mark Kotsay WAR magically go up by one in the last 24 hours? Because I'm fairly certain he just won us one baseball game more than the phantom Replacement Player. I'm not using this to defend Kotsay, who has not been good this season, this is purely an attack on stupid statistics that dont make any sense. According to WPA, Kotsay was responsible for winning half a game today. Saying things like WAR should incorporate walk-off hits as "winning a whole game" is flat out ridiculous. Unless that guy pitched to get all 27 outs, played every position, got every single hit in every batting slot, he doesn't deserve a whole WAR just because he came up in the right spot at the right time. Your perception of value and contribution to wins are skewed. And if you would like, please explain to us why WAR is bulls***. Do you know how it is calculated? Do you know the components of it for position players, for pitchers? If you don't know how it goes, don't knock it.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 07:10 PM) No it's not. Stacey King would go for 20 points and 10 rebounds every 30 games or so. He was still bad. Just like Kotsay is still bad. No, I'm saying it's a terrible idea to talk to Kotsay supporters about him when he just did that. Those people only live for what just happened, they don't care that he's hitting .220.
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 06:59 PM) http://www.facebook.com/scott.reifert?v=wa...d=1467906652513 Read if you have 5 minutes to spare, and please, someone help me from tearing my hair out. I can't believe I would find 3 people who think Kotsay is good, and they are all swarming at once! I've dealt with these kind of people before. Just ignore them. There's no use getting all mad over people who do not possess brains. And it is also a terrible idea to talk about Mark Kotsay after he just went 3-5 with 5 runs batted in.
  7. Any word on who they plan to donate this money to?
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 09:54 AM) So let me get this straight. The single-most appealing thing about Madden 10, the online franchise mode, had bugs aplenty (including incorrect aging, no contracts, none of the deep, intuitive features we all love from regular franchise), yet they do nothing about it? From what I have read, the only changes to Madden 11 are updated rosters, new pre-snap controls (something that bugs me because they were fine), and a new way of "playcalling" which is basically permanent "Ask Madden" which takes half the fun out of playing, imo. Seriously, I like selecting plays, not being told by a computer what to do and mindlessly trying to pull it off. Then they ignore the online franchise, stating it will go "largely unchanged". This monopoly gets really old. Yet, of course, like the drone I am I'll walk like a Zombie, drooling, into GameStop come Tuesday and pick up my copy. Ugh. I'm dumb. I got $20 for pre-ordering it, I'll take it.
  9. QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 11:46 AM) Freddy won't be back next year. He's going to get a (well-deserved) handsome contract somewhere else. Only a team like the Royals or Astros would offer Freddy a lot of money for his wins. Everybody else will give him what he truly deserves...5th starter's money.
  10. Jose Guillen got DFA'd, bout time.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) I believe you can put him on irrevocable waivers the 2nd time though. Well I don't think Rizzo would want to do that. At the least, he gets two picks for Dunn.
  12. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) Can a player be placed through waivers twice? Like can the Nats pull Dunn off waivers, and then run him through again? No they cannot.
  13. Rizzo would immediately pull him back.
  14. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) Wow, congratulations on the subtitle of the thread. I mean honestly, that's awesome. And just like kyyle, I give Kotsay a reprieve for the day and possibly tomorrow. Good job, Freddy, and basically everyone except for Jenks. Jenks has cost Garcia two wins already.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) I would think you'd adore her for more than one day only... I'm just saying I'd adore both of them for this one day.
  16. For one day and one day only, I will adore Mark Kotsay (and his wife).
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 02:59 PM) Hands lower again for Alex. He needs to stop f***ing around with his mechanics, especially in-game.
  18. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) Baseball gods aren't smiling on the Sox. Just got here. Already review here how Twins scored in top of 9th? Their third out pop-up hit dome. The baseball gods love the Twins, they hate us.
  19. We were that close to putting the Tigers away for good...
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) How could Bobby honestly believe that his goatee looks cool? A.J. is forcing him to keep it.
  21. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) 3 days short of 2 months.....lets not exagerate It's been a real hard 1.9 months.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) Ahem You are the Soxtalk Genie.
