Nats sign Werth
QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 06:27 PM) The Phils still have Ibanez, Victorino, and Brown. No room for Quentin. Ibanez is almost 40. I think they would like to give him a bit more rest. Maybe they'll go with a Ibanez/Brown/somebody else platoon for RF and LF.

Nats sign Werth
QUOTE (pktmotion @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 06:23 PM) I think Mike Rizzo has firmly cemented his position as most hated GM in all of the league. Wonder if Philly tries to come hard at a Quentin deal now? Oh I hope they do.

Indy's probably gonna miss the playoffs. Wow.

Nats sign Werth
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 04:56 PM) Considering what they added to their payroll, that's what should happen. Apparently Boston was only going 4 years for Werth. Boston's got a smart front office. Giving 7 years to anyone, especially a 31 year old, isn't a very smart move. I would have only offered him 4 at max too. Ideally, I'd sign him to 3 years.

Nats sign Werth
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 04:50 PM) I wouldn't say he's "Far superior", 120-130 OPS+ for Werth, 130-140 OPS+ for Dunn, career wise, so he's somewhat better...Werth though gives something quality on defense. And Willingham is probably a better defender than Dunn at 1B. So overall, the Nats improved their defense a lot while they didn't lose too much on offense.

I don't see how it really helped when the play was on a 1st and 10 on the Detroit 22. It wasn't like we weren't gonna score or something. Plus, when the ball came loose, that wouldn't have been a fumble. ESPN just looking for storylines, as always.

Nats sign Werth
So I guess this means Willingham is moving to 1B. Their OF will consist of Bernadina in LF, Morgan in CF, and Werth in RF. Not bad.

QUOTE (chunk23 @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) 7/126 First ultra gigantic contract of the off-season. Crawford should be smelling his 7 year $140 million contract sometime soon.

Nats sign Werth
Well, Dunn and Werth aren't too far apart offensively, so the Nats really didn't lose anything. 7 years though? Kinda ridiculous considering the guy is 31.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) Urlacher has had a dirty game today. 17 tackles, .5 sacks. Great fantasy day for me. Bennett's been awesome today.

Finally got a sack on Stanton. He's had way too much time to throw this game.

Tim Ryan needs to just shut up about the unnecessary roughness. He didn't have to push Cutler.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) They were never serviceable, at all, notice how few long passes Cutler attempts. It only seemed like that because Cutler was compensating for it (with Martz's help). They still can't pass block at all. What I'm saying is that they at least allowed Cutler to drop back and throw a pass. In no way am I saying this o-line was actually good before this.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 02:01 PM) You say this like you're just now figuring out how terrible they are. They were at least serviceable these past 4 games. This is like the Giants game again.
