  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:01 PM) And I can respect you feeling that way. It's just a personal thing. Personally, I stopped looking at athletes as my role models when I was about 20 I think. When I want to read about human beings that I truly admire, I look to the clergy...oh wait... Charles Barkley is right...athletes aren't role models.
  2. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) Your original post was funnier. I felt like the edit was appropriate. I really wanted him to go F himself, but that wasn't really necessary.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) FWIW, From ESPN chat: Comment From Woj] I sometimes don't understand Kenny Williams- Why did he have to give up 2 good prospects and take on $10.5 million in future money. Houston gave $11 million and the prospects in return were nothing special. Why didn't the Sox get money in the deal? Jason A. Churchill -- MLB Draft Blog/Rumor Central: Hudson is not a future No. 1 or anything and Holmberg, the second arm going to Arizona, is widely considered a No. 3 or 4 starter at best. So they didn't exactly send elite talent to the D-backs in return for Jackson. Plus, the idea may be to flip Jackson to Washington for Dunn, which cancels out most if not all of the future money. But even Philly is taking on some salary, they didn't get Oswalt for FREE. Jason A. Churchill -- MLB Draft Blog/Rumor Central: Law on Hudson: No. 4 starter in the NL. Keith Law can go eat himself into obesity.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:47 PM) Could Dunn and the Sox be working on an extension before the trade is finalized? We have about $75 million locked up in salary next year. I heavily doubt it.
  5. MLB Trade Rumors says Orioles might be done dealing. You can probably cross Luke Scott off the list.
  6. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) Great Bernstein line: Myers-Pierzinski the ultimate jack-ass battery of all time. I bet those two will really get to know each other well.
  7. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) FWIW: Myers is under contract for $8,000,000 next year ($8M Mutual Option, $2M Buyout) Mutual options usually don't work out.
  8. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:38 PM) I just got banned from wsi for telling a mod to f*** himself. soxtalk is so much better. I got banned for talking about iPhone jailbreaking on there. Now that iPhone jailbreaking is completely legal, I just wanna shove something up those old people's faces.
  9. BNightengale #mlb White Sox have Edwin Jackson included in current trade package for Dunn. If Sox get Dunn, then will try to land Astros' Brett Myers
  10. Come and talk about the trade deadline in the chat.
  11. Anybody wanna fume about this trade in the chat? Might be a good time to use it.
  12. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) Anyone else getting occasional "Internal Server Error" messages? Yup, server overload.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:35 PM) just curious, what were Jacksons numbers vs Minnesota while with Detroit? 0-1 5.84 ERA in 2 starts.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) No offense to you in particular, but I find it pretty absurd people throw projections around like they are guaranteed to happen. We are talking about a guy getting to traded to a new team in a new league that plays in a different park with different defenders and has a different pitching coach. There are so many variables at play here that projections are meaningless at this time IMO. I have no doubt that giving up Hudson and Holmberg is an overpay, but that's what happens when you acquire starting pitching at the deadline. I don't see how anyone could think this move makes us worse THIS SEASON. At worst, he should be slightly better than Hudson this year simply because he can eat innings. Furthermore, the guy has the skillset to be dominant postseason starter. I'm not saying he will, but if he can get hot by the end of the year, this team is much more dangerous playoff team with him as our #4 starter than Garcia or Hudson. Nobody's saying it's GUARANTEED to happen, but it's to give you an idea of what he can bring based on his previous track record. We are all aware of the different variables he may encounter in a new environment. The 1.5 WAR production is actually a highly liberal estimate that would favor Jackson.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:27 PM) Buzzkill: Tim Kurkjian of ESPN reporting that the Nationals told him directly they are NOT trading Dunn to the White Sox for Edwin Jackson How can you have such contradictory tweets in a span of 5 minutes?
  16. Jim Bowden's talking like the Dunn deal is done. JimBowdenXMFOX Rios, Konerko, Dunn and Quentin.....love the middle of the lineup...love the balance Dunn Brings...love the make-up he'll bring 4 minutes ago via web
  17. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:22 PM) @JimBowdenXMFOX- "deal not done...but all indications are that Adam Dunn is heading to the southside of Chicago....waiting on the Nationals now to close it" "approval delay in Washington's onion layered process but looks like Dunner is heading to a pennant race" I don't like Jim Bowden (guy's an idiot), but I hope he's right. And I also hope KW has a pitcher to get.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:22 PM) Who do the Nats have in terms of starting pitching we could take on? Anyway we could keep both Jackson and Dunn, because we still obviously need a starter. Nobody good.
  19. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:21 PM) Who's Bowden? And if he's correct, does it involve Jackson? I'm assuming it's Jim Bowden, former GM of the Nationals.
  20. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) @jonmorosi - Source says #WhiteSox and #Royals didn't have talks about Greinke prior to the Jackson deal. We have no chance at Greinke.
  21. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) Bowden reported that Dunn is close to being a member of the Sox Bowden, the former GM of the Nats?
  22. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:17 PM) Who is @cst_sox? reliable? Joe Cowley.
  23. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:11 PM) I don't get this trade at all. Can someone explain the benefit to this trade...because I don't see it at all. There is no benefit. If you lose the game today because you had to throw Lucas Harrel out there, then Jackson's value to this team the rest of the way decreases even more. Jackson projects to be a guy who can give you 1.5 wins from here on out, nothing awesome.
