  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) I understand the position that Toronto is in though. Bosh has basically made it known that he is leaving Toronto, but he needs them for the extra year and the extra money that no one else can offer, so he puts them in a really s***ty position. Who's the bigger loser? Bosh for not getting the bigger contract, or Toronto for getting nothing in return for him? Toronto for getting nothing in return. They're basically getting played.
  2. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) ouch. Is there a story behind this? The people over at RealGM, a couple of them at least, really hate Jason Goff.
  3. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) I am not sure that I agree. What does Toronto have to gain by accepting Luol Deng and his horrible contract? They might be better off just saving the cap space. It is f***ed up but Luol Deng + his contract might not be as valuable as just cap space. If Toronto takes too long, they get nothing. People think Bosh can't live without the extra $30 million, what's that supposed to mean? Sprewell can't feed his kids, now Chris Bosh can't either? Bosh will find himself another contract later on, he doesn't need the extra $30 million, he would like to have it, but if Toronto's being too picky, Bosh might just say screw it.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) Ya, I go to school in Michigan and am there for 9 months out of the year surrounded by Tigers and Wings fans. Its horrible. And what people blame Ozzie for doing with guys like Kotsay or Mackowiak or whatever, Tigers fans have been crying about this for years with Brandon Inge. What's wrong with Brandon Inge? I know he can't hit, but his defense is pretty damn good.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 03:39 PM) Man it would have been nice to sign Valverde in the off season. Don't worry, implosion is in his future. The baseball gods will never let him have such a low ERA when his FIP is in the 3 range. You should see his BABIP, it's at .132.
  6. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) Did Peavy get skipped again? Nope. He pitched that last game in KC. He goes tomorrow.
  7. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 03:41 PM) Swisher leading, Konerko in 4th. :-( Those Yankees fans...
  8. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) If you can get Bosh, do you trade Noah to Raptors? Toronto's bluffing.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) My guess is in the message board age, you could bury any manager of the White Sox or any team just by watching a week's worth of games. All managers suck to armchair quarterbacks. All of them. Give any manager a week of scrutiny on this board, following every pitch in a game, and that manager by the end of the week will be trash. Nobody said any of us could do a better job, that's you interpreting it that way. In your eyes, if Ozzie killed one of his players, it'd be okay because that player was obviously in the wrong and not performing.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) He asked the question and I think my answer is why he is playing. He's our regular catcher. Why the f*** do you think he's playing? He plays until the day he needs a rest. As far as Jones, he is a waste and should be out of baseball. Hopefully he'll be off the team before long. I don't know, but usually, Ozzie puts Castro out there against the left handed pitcher. Since A.J.'s been just awful lately, I think that might have been a good idea.
  11. Looks like the Tigers are going to win this.
  12. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) Leyland panicked down the stretch last year and it cost the Tigers. Gardenhire has never been the favorite in a pennant race, no one knows how he'll react. How did Leyland panic? Did he panic in 06? You guys are putting a bit too much into how these guys do during playoff games and games in September.
  13. Shin-Soo Choo is out till September. Why the hell did we have to play the Indians so much early in the year?
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 02:03 PM) Mark Teahen. Two totally different players.
  15. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) I am 100% ok with that. Yup, same here.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 01:59 PM) All managers are bad at something. I'd take the guy with the team with the best talent. Players win games. That said, Ozzie rocks. No, but these three are all really bad at something, not just bad.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 01:57 PM) Uh, AJ is playing because he's our regular, everyday catcher. Seems simple to me. He's also been bad and a lefty is pitching.
  18. Okay, Patterson is terrible.
  19. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) This Tigers-Orioles game is hilarious. It's like a 16-inch softball game, lots of scoring. And how is Corey Patterson still playing baseball? Dude is awful no matter what his stats show. He does have a 10 game hit streak now.
  20. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 01:41 PM) oh god, why do we have to be tortured with Andruw Jones starting??? Lets see if he can top his outing on saturday night where he looked like a fool and K'd his first two AB's, and then when he decides to make contact, ground into a DP. Andruw Jones needs to be DFA!!!!! Great news, Jones is 1-9 against Kazmir.
  21. Ha, it was that close to being 10-7.
  22. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 12:44 PM) The most important skill to have as a hitter is getting on base. Dejesus' OBP is .398 this year. His career OBP is .361 Career OBP: Pierre .346 Rios .333 Konerko .354 Quentin .346 Ramirez .323 Beckham .317 Kotsay .336 Jones .337 AJ .324 Teahen .331 And that says nothing about the fact that he's an above average outfielder and collects a lot of extra base hits. His power numbers will also increase here in Chicago.
  23. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 01:37 PM) Quentin worth more than the great Tyler Flowers? The guy hitting .219 in AAA??? I'd trade Flowers in a heartbeat but the problem is no other team would be interested in him as the main piece of a deal, even for a 3 month rental bat. Trading Quentin for Dunn doesn't accomplish much as they'd still be a bat short and Dunn would be gone after this year anyway. Plus with Ozzie around, Dunn would be playing way too much at 1B and in the OF which would make the deal a net loss. I would only approve of the deal if Kenny gets somebody like DeJesus.
  24. Wow, both teams are in their bullpens already. Didn't notice that.
  25. Hmm, Rios as a DH. I guess it doesn't hurt too much since he's been really struggling as of late.
