I think he realized that he needed more pitches due to this and his inability to be consistent with velocity may have something to do with his health and fitness (endurance does have a lot to do with your body weight...).

Contract details 2 years/$19M (2010-11), plus 2012 option signed extension with LA Angels 11/5/09 10:$9M, 11:$9M, 12:$9M option ($1M buyout) option guaranteed with 550 PAs in 2011 or 1,100 PA in 2010- You'd be handcuffed to him for 2 years and $18 million possibly. At the least, you'll have him for $10 million next year. Not sure I'd be a fan of that.

Abreu's expensive next year. He's getting old really fast, the bat's been mediocre this year and bad for his standards. His defense is bad, although not Carlos Quentin bad. Quite frankly, Abreu would end up hitting second in this lineup. He doesn't have enough power to hit 5th. You'd be in a very similar situation if you go with Matsui.

I wouldn't trade with the Jays period. Asking price too high, no great commodities.

I tend to think of ESPN as a news station controlled by the dictatorships that are the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL. More so the NBA and MLB.

Strasburg shut down for next start and maybe start after. They're being precautionary, which is a smart thing to do. But this has to raise some eyebrows and it just goes to show that those people who have been b****ing about his mechanics could be right (like they usually are).

The bullpen looked amazing. Thornton had a hiccup, but that was it. Great comeback win to bail out Buehrle.

I'm fully convinced now - Jenks on a lot of rest and pissed off is really good. The problem is that he's still inconsistent with his velocity. You have to be careful with how much you use him. Rest him and he will look like this more often.

If Bobby does blow this save, Ozzie has a lot of explaining to do. Putz threw 8 pitches in the 8th inning.
