  1. I kind of want Pierre to bunt here, but I have the feeling that we're not going to score with two guys in RISP.
  2. Lillibunt!
  3. Holy crap. I just looked at Alexei's UZR and it's +8.6. It must be Omar Vizquel...
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 08:08 PM) That's not true. I watch a lot of our games on other teams' broadcasts, and they all talk about how he has turned his career around. Now I dunno if they realize just how great he was in April and May, but they have recognized how well he has been playing. I've had people tell me that "it's only two months" and crap. Maybe I've just run into a lot of stupid people, but it doesn't seem like Rios is being appreciated enough. Just look at the ASG voting.
  5. We've had guys in RISP with less than two outs for the last three innings and we still haven't scored. WTF?
  6. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 07:29 PM) Im so glad someone finally mentioned Rios and Konerko. It was sickening how not a single person has brought up Konerko on ESPN, but everyone single one of them is heart broken that Youkilis didn't make it. He did get one thing wrong. Just as he complains about Infante being on the team, you can use all those arguments for why Strasburg doesn't deserve to be on the team. Strasburg has some of the best stuff in the major leagues and has been impressive, but he's only had 6 starts and been in the bigs for a month! He didn't earn a spot on the team, plain and simple, no argument can say he earned the right to be an all-star other than hype. Rhodes and Meeks both make sense. Rhodes was needed because they need at least 1 lefty to face some of the lefties on the AL team, and Rhodes is arguably the best LOOGY in baseball right now. Latos deserves a spot over Lincecum, Lincecum only hurts the NL squad with the way he's been pitching the past month+. You know why he did? Because Jeff Passan likes sabermetrics. Seriously, outside of the sabermetric circle and us White Sox fans, most people still think Rios sucks.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 08:03 PM) He GIDP? I hate AJ with a passion. He is the only guy I have it in my heart to really dislike. He goes up there with no approach whatsoever. I know he supposedly is a great signal caller, but I want no part of resigning him next year. He popped into a double play because Ozzie had a hit and run on...
  8. Oh what the hell?
  9. lol Quentin's raising that wOBA by reaching on errors. Man Michael Young sucks at defense.
  10. Feldman is terrible and we have one run...
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 07:47 PM) Playing with Deron Williams will do that to your numbers, not that I don't like Boozer, just sayin. It's not a huge downgrade when he comes here and plays with Rose. Deron is on another level, but the downgrade isn't gigantic.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) They were shooting for the UZR title. They're not even leading in that category.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 06:08 PM) Lillibomb's current OPS? 1.875 That's equivalent to a wOBA of .776, which in 8 plate appearances equals an awesome 2.9 batting runs and a 0.3 WAR. You see that? Brent Lillibridge is worth more than Andruw Jones, Mark Kotsay, and Gordon Beckham combined!
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 05:01 PM) Roll over? They suck. The Mariners front-office forgot (or flat-out ignored) that actually scoring runs is a big part of this game we call baseball. They got too carried away with pitching and defense.
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 05:54 PM) I don't want Sabermetrics in my other sports. I'll let you guys stick with it for baseball, but that is it. The problem with basketball metrics is that they're nowhere near as accurate as the baseball ones, and with all the people who already doubt baseball sabermetrics, they should probably laugh at the basketball ones. Still, I posted that as something interesting to consider, not something to believe.
  16. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 05:38 PM) Jeff Passan is on fire today. Reading his tweets; he's legitimately furious that Infante made the team and then this: Infante could be the worst All-Star pick ever (Rios and Konerko get a mention) Jeff Passan is awesome. If I had to write something about how bad these selections were, I would write what he wrote. He mixed everything in there. I really like his appreciation of sabermetrics.
  17. I've been looking at some advanced basketball metrics...and to my surprise, Carlos Boozer is probably the second best big man out of the big 4 when he is healthy. 2010 Wins Produced/WARP Bosh: 13.5/14 Boozer: 11.3/11.7 Stoudemire: 11.3/10.8 Lee: 6.2/13.2 From this, it seems like Lee's numbers don't exactly match up. WARP and wins produced are two different things, but usually, they do correlate. Anyways, I would doubt that David Lee is almost as good as Chris Bosh.
  18. I wish I had good enough programming skills to create a bot that would do this for me automatically.
  19. Seattle and Tampa both win. This is our chance.
  20. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 01:54 PM) Infante's hitting .353/.400/.412/.812 vs the Phillies this season. There's your explanation. It's a 34 player roster, versatility truly has no place in this game. Sample sizes...man they're a b****.
  21. QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) There is none. No wonder, it seems like I've voted 50 times already and it hasn't told me I've done enough.
  22. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) He probably wont even pitch and if he does 1 inning is not going to kill him. I hope he doesn't.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 01:32 PM) I still wouldn't stress about it. I'm sure he's thrilled to make the team and I doubt these guys are firing fastballs all week leading to the game. They probably aren't. But we have a huge series with Minnesota following the break and we need Thornton to be well rested.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 01:28 PM) I wouldn't worry about that. Cal Ripken could have used the days off all those years and it didn't bother him. This puts pressure on the Sox to make Thornton the full time closer doesn't it? Baseball is proclaiming him more important/impressive than Jenks. Didn't they expand the rosters big-time a few years ago? Even with that Rios/Paulie get snubbed? Cal Ripken wasn't a pitcher who threw 97 MPH and had to get fluid drained from his pitching elbow.
