  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 05:18 PM) What about Jose Contreras in 2005? I can't recall his early season numbers though. He wasn't that bad to start 05.
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) Actually, f*** that. brb going to jack off lol...
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) Is Castro a misprint? I'm assuming yes since he's getting paid $1 million this year.
  4. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 05:46 PM) As much as everyone loves Adrian, he's still underrated IMO. If the year ended now, he'd be the NL leader in WAR. So technically, he has been the most valuable position player in the NL thus far.
  5. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 05:10 PM) My question would be: what does a player's RBI total tell you at the end of the year? In a way, it tells you a little bit about the player's ability, because you don't see everybody driving in 100 runs. However, most of it is about who hits around you. Adrian Gonzalez getting only 100 RBI a year doesn't mean he's nowhere near as good as Ryan Howard.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) I agree about wins and loses. RBI is still important, though flawed and overrated (Ryan Howard). The problem I have with RBI is some people try to use it when comparing player A to player B. OMG it pisses me off.
  7. So yeah, I think 5-1 is now a realistic homestand.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 04:50 PM) You know what looked hideous to me? Scott Feldman's 17-8 record last year. More wins than Greinke, Garza, Kershaw and Gallardo. That was the most grotesque thing I've seen in a while. Scott Failedman? Wins and losses should be abolished, much like runs batted in.
  9. Yeah, I'd also like to trade Albert Pujols for Dan Uggla. If you don't mind... The funny thing is, the Marlins probably wouldn't make that deal. Too much money.
  10. I'm getting a LeBron jersey if this is going down.
  11. Cowley was on the Score today talking about how Bobby had trouble locating his fastball on the corners and everything was center cut. Coop or somebody else fixed him, apparently. And now he's back to form. This makes sense since Bobby changed his delivery from the windup this year.
  12. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) just imagine if we dominated the Cleveland Indians like we are suppose to, then we would be the best team in MLB. We'd be 7 games over if we were 8-4 against them. Not convincing enough for best team in baseball.
  13. LaRoche has an option for 2011, so I think giving up somebody like Morel + Retherford would be a fair return.
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) Thats why I think they are going after Johnson, as the rumor is he'll take an under max deal from the Bulls. If you can pair Johnson up with LeBron, I don't care. Johnson's a nice #2 to have, but no matter what, he can't be your #1. Look what's happened to Atlanta these past couple of years.
  15. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) Pena's come up huge for this team time and time again, he's been outstanding in his role. When your ERA is 4.46 as a reliever but you have a WPA of 0.49 you're obviously doing something right. He's had a couple of really bad outings in meaningless games. Other than that, he's been big.
  16. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) That JJ Putz signing is looking f***ing awesome right about now. He's got a 0.79 WHIP and a 11.1 K/9, great life on his fastball and that devastating splitty, what a pickup. The back end of the bullpen has been nails for us. If you hope to win the division that's a necessity. A combo of Santos, Putz, Thornton, and Jenks is just deadly. Now if only we can get somebody to replace Randy Williams. Pena's also been pretty solid.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:41 PM) I think a lot of credit goes to the Blackhawks. Since they won the Cup, the Sox have gone 12-1. The only game the Sox lost was when the Hawks were in attendance, and the Sox just got too nervous from being in their awesome presence. 2.5 games back, WOW!!! It's rubbing off.
  18. I am somewhat afraid of the Cubs coming in and beating us. Don't know why, but it's just a feeling. When was the last time this team won 10 games in a row?
  19. Twins down to their last out. Think about it, had the freaking Phillies bullpen held on, we'd be 1.5 back.
  20. Brew Crew up 5-0. We could be 2.5 back.
  21. SWEEEEEEP. Best baseball this team has played since 2006.
  22. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) Wade has already stated that he would gladly be the #2 if Lebron came to Miami. But I'm not holding my breath. And I said I have a 20 foot vertical.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) CHAD QUALLS I have to ask, but are you a ninja?
  24. QUOTE (shawnhillegas @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:16 PM) EPIC FAIL on the scouting report. Who throws Paulie a first pitch fastball? Chad Qualls. Now Saito.
  25. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:14 PM) Rios really couldn't have ph there? 2-0 Sox on Paulie's blast! Chyeahhhh
