  1. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 10:22 AM) Did Konerko throw the cookie to Guillen and Teahen? Did Konerko fail to throw the ball in resulting in a inside the park homerun? Im not denying that the floodgates opened after his error/non-error, but there is such thing as damage control, and the bullpen did not provide it. You know this team's tendencies and Mark Buehrle's tendencies. They can't pitch over defensive mistakes. Knowing that, Konerko has to make that play. It wasn't like the throw was terribly bad, he just dropped it.
  2. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 10:24 AM) Few days back from the DL and the overeaction begins..... Joe Crede cannot field eithier, time to dump him At least Joe is hitting better than .215... It's not like Konerko was doing anything awesome before his DL stint.
  3. QUOTE (BBaum21 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 05:19 PM) Bradley was named to the team initially, correct? People have been saying Bradley is Ortiz's injury replacement on the roster, but I don't think so. I think he's just replacing Ortiz in the starting lineup Tuesday. Can anyone clarify? Ortiz is still taking a spot, Bradley was initially on the team.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 08:05 AM) Really? Hart: .292/.332/.510, 47 R, 15 HR, 57 RBI, 13 SB Rowand: .296/.362/.453, 40 R, 8 HR, 47 RBI, 1 SB Burrell: .279/.412/.581, 48 R, 22 HR, 54 RBI, 0 SB Theres no doubt in my mind Wright should have been the guy and Lee has been better too, but Rowands numbers dont even compare, and although Burrell has more homers, Hart has the base-running versatility so those two guys are close. Burrell leads all outfielders in OPS. His OPS is over 1.000!
  5. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 10:09 AM) ^^^^^^^^^ Thank you.... we couldn't win it with "That Jim Thome" about a month and a half ago...but look what happened.... Thome was still hitting homers, plus, Jim doesn't play in the field. Konerko isn't hitting anything! And now, he's not fielding.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 10:09 PM) If this team doesn't make the postseason, it will be due to our starting pitching staff hitting the wall. Like it did yesterday? I know it's popular to blame Konerko, but for all of those saying that it wasn't just his fault, it was. Paulie's not only sucking with the bat, but also with the glove. I imagine his VORP is 20 points below 0. That's how bad he's been.
  7. I have a bad feeling about this Texas series. Our pitching will face a real test.
  8. Buehrle deserved better. Paulie needs to get it back together. He's worthless right now. That 8th inning was just UGH.
  9. Paulie, if you suck with the bat, it's ok. If you also suck with the glove and cost your team the game, it's not.
  10. QUOTE (robin23 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 03:57 PM) After last nights performance i say give Dotel a chance at closing. Thing is, can Dotel bring it like he did last night consistently? I know pitchers have good/ok/bad days. Dotel usually doesn't have the "ok" kind of day. He's either really dominant or he has trouble finding the strike zone. For a closer, inconsistency is the worst trait to have.
  11. QUOTE (robin23 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 03:51 PM) well that sucks. Dye can still get in the game if Francona thinks he's better than Giambi for the replacement of David Ortiz. Stay tuned.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 09:39 AM) That was the best I've seen Dotel look in a Sox uni. His velocity was up (hitting 93-94 consistently) and that FB had great life to it. Better than his 5 K 2 inning outing vs. the Twins?
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 01:00 PM) No offense, but that's stupid. They were trying to win just like the Sox. It happened to be a good game. True Linebrink sucked, but there were a lot of potential goats on both sides in that game. Call me dumb but I'd try Linebrink again. He's getting used to being trotted out there. Or try Masset again. True he stunk, but he did get the last DP ball. It's that feeling where you were so close, but you let it slip away. I was totally demoralized. It was late, I was tired. I thought 2 runs were enough. Living through the fear that Nick Masset would cough up the game was too much to take for me. He almost did, too.
  14. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 03:29 PM) twins have a brutal stretch in the second half where they play 23/29 on the road starting August 21st - featuring a 4 game set at tampa and a 10 game west coast swing including 4 games at LAA. If they go .500 during that stretch it will be a bloody miracle. The Twins can't play on the road, it's pretty obvious. They're 1-3 on this roadtrip. If it wasn't for Todd Jones, they'd be 0-4.
  15. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 03:30 PM) Final Vote Article Longoria and Hart win.... What I find funny is that no where in this article is says the final vote totals for the front runners. All it says is that JD was a close 2nd....really makes me think that it could have been rigged to get the young players in there....and also b/c the Rays are such a good story... These things are easy to rig. We don't see any totals...
  16. How did Corey Hart win? Pat Burrell, like Dye, should of been on the original roster...
  17. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 04:16 PM) Fukodome 0-5 with 3 k's Other than OBP Alexi Ramirez is a better player in just about every facet of the game. Reds with 7 homeruns today. The homer Dunn hit was absolutely CRUSHED.
  18. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 02:22 PM) That Tigers sweep still was rough... We should of won that first game, Robertson is a crappy pitcher. The last game was winnable, but old man Rogers was pitching. We never hit him well away from the Cell.
  19. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 11:11 AM) http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws Entering Wednesday's game, Chicago's No. 8 hitters led the Major Leagues in average (.281), home runs (21) and RBIs (62) Joe Crede bats 8th most of the time, that's why...
  20. J.D. Drew is having back problems. Mr. Glass has reappeared everybody! Even if Jermaine doesn't win, he'll take Ortiz's spot. They better not have Giambi take it instead of him.
  21. The Tigers don't have a bullpen outside of Zumaya, 'nuff said.
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 03:36 PM) I'd love to see Detroit win 3/4 or even a split would work. If the Tigers won 3/4, we were 3.5 up tomorrow, we win our final game in KC, and we swept the Rangers, we'd be 6.5 up on Minnesota and 8 up on Detroit. If they split, we were 3.5 up tomorrow, we final our final game in KC, and we swept the Rangers, we'd be 5.5 up on Minnesota and 9 up on Detroit. I'd probably prefer this more one. Anything above a 5 game divisional lead at the all-star game is great. I'll settle for anywhere from 4.5 to 6.5 over the Twins. Hopefully, it's in between, like you said. If we end up sweeping Kansas City, worst case scenario, we're still in first by the break.
  23. QUOTE (Maxwell @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 04:30 PM) What's worse than a few potential blown saves is this might hurt liney's confidence. Yea, him saying "I stink" yesterday didn't make me real happy. Maybe it's time for a nice talk with Coop.
  24. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 03:32 PM) Im guessing that Liriano returns soon. He has been pretty good at AAA lately. So was Felix Diaz back in 2003.
  25. Wow, that was a trouncing. It was enough to put the Red Sox's run differential over ours by 2 runs. They're at 91, we're at 89. Could this be the beginning of the pitching slump that we saw when the Twins invaded the Cell and got crushed by 25 runs in a 4 games series? We'll see. Maybe the Tigers will come roaring back this weekend.
