I'd imagine the A's would want Vaughn and Montgomery for Murphy. If you're gonna trade those 2 away you might as well get someone like Reynolds. I can also see this as the Sox trying to drive up the price for Cleveland. The Guardians were in on Murphy at the trade deadline last year. Cleveland may not have money, but they have a ton of prospects to trade from.

It's mostly because Moncada and Eloy contracts are no longer good values since both aren't producing or have been too injured. Add in Grandal falling off a cliff and you have a bunch of guys on overvalued contracts.

He tends to be inconsistent season to season, but the potential is obviously there. Ramon Laureano - Had a bad 2022, probably won't cost as much to get as he did last year. Ian Happ - I'm sure Rick tried at the trade deadline, but the Cubs were asking for too much.
