  1. Come on offense. Get behind Gavin. Support him. Do something useful! You've seen Slowey once already, now start hitting!
  2. Hmmm. Slowey's getting the movable strike zone. Gavin...not so much.
  3. We still need to have some faith in this team. As bad as we have looked so far, there have been times this year where the Sox have come out of nowhere and poured it on the other team after looking lifeless for the first half of the game. It's only a one run game. Stop thinking about how bad we're at the plate and how bad we will be. It's times like these where I question why I'm even a fan. I'm supposed to enjoy the game, win or lose. Whatever I guess.
  4. I understand that Griffey has driven in all of our runs in this series, but this game should be scoreless right now... BA is really deep in Ozzie's doghouse.
  5. Nice, we still don't have a hit. This team is pulling the choke job of the decade.
  6. We're getting out guessed in every aspect. Who's fault is that? Who's responsible for letting the hitters know the plan of attack? Greg freakin' Walker... Useless when we need it most. Ugh.
  7. Duckworth did pitch pretty well against them last time out. The Royals ended up winning that game. Our destiny is in our own damn hands. Don't expect the Royals to help us out.
  8. Griffey in the lineup again...*Sigh. Is Ozzie blind?
  9. Tha Wise III might make a groundbreaking debut today in the Metrodome.
  10. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 01:07 PM) which is more important - offense or defense? ozzie's in a tight situation, you start griffey because he brings more offense than anderson. Anderson obviously brings better defense. It's a tough call, imo. Anderson's slugging better than Griffey and has an OPS almost as high. Anderson is just as productive as Griffey at the plate right now with a much more reliable glove in center.
  11. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 01:12 PM) and he drove in all 3 runs we scored. just saying. He hit into a double play to drive in the first run. He hit a home run in garbage time. He failed to make one of the biggest plays in the game on defense that any other outfielder besides him and Dye would of made. Swisher might of even had that ball. At best, Griffey didn't produce at all yesterday. At worst, you could of said he cost the Sox a couple of runs.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 10:28 AM) If we win tonight, we win the division. If we lose tonight, Minnesota wins the division. I understand that's an opinion and not a vent, but I believe it to be absolutely true. We HAVE to win tonight, end of story. One day at a time. Remember, Floyd starts in game 3.
  13. I swear, if Griffey starts in center again today, Ozzie has some explaining to do. Griffey's inability to catch that fly ball in the gap totally set up that 3 run 4th inning. His second home run in garbage time also meant absolutely nothing. Play Anderson Ozzie, play Anderson! You can even play Owens. Please, we need more range in center!
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 11:43 PM) Vazquez was absolutely terrible tonight, and I don't care if he didn't have his best stuff. FSN North had him registering around 88-92 with his fastball, and I don't remember seeing him use his changeup at all. That Kubel AB was pathetic too...I wonder what happens when you throw a good fastball hitter 6 straight fastballs...? Griffey has a use on this team, but it's as a backup outfielder or pinch hitter late in the game. He should be no where near CF tomorrow - hopefully it's Anderson or even Swisher or Wise - but I strongly doubt it and expect a similar lineup tomorrow night. That's a piss poor lineup the Sox are throwing out there. I also wouldn't mind seeing either Wise or Ramirez in the 2 hole tomorrow...AJP is a cheater because he is cheering for the Twins. The stoppers are going in the next two, and Blackburn got f***ed up his last start. Time for Buehrle to earn his moneys. Javy did use his changeup. Unfortunately, when he did, it got crushed. The home run he gave up to Kubel was on a high change up.
  15. Clayton Richard's not helping... Embarrassing game one.
  16. QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 06:16 PM) They have no respect? An idiot reporter asked a stupid question that assumed his team was out of the race, what do you want Gardy's response to be? I'm all for Twins bashing. Hell, I hate them more than most here. But there's a time and place, and jumping over Gardy for this quote is just silly. Do they really have respect for us? I doubt it.
  17. Just a really weird tidbit here... I've noticed that the Sox have won a lot recently with the games on WCIU, especially the road games. I just countered up the record of our road games on the U. It's at .500, 7-7. When I first started tallying, the team was like 5 games under .500, but recently, they've recovered and won I think their last 3 road games on the U. The latest one being in Yankee stadium. It's also quite coincidental that the Sox's only win in Minnesota was broadcasted on WCIU. If you want to know the Sox home record on the U, it's 6-5. Overall, 13-12. May the superstitious TV station give us luck!
  18. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 05:06 PM) The Twins have zero respect for the Sox? When was this said??? Link????? That just screams zero respect out at me.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) FRIDAY Jensen Lewis versus Jon Danks SATURDAY Zach Jackson (crafty LH) against Javier Vazquez (3 day's rest) SUNDAY Cliff Lee versus Mark Buerhle (3 day's rest) Obviously, if it gets to Sunday, that's a scary proposition. Let's hope it is Broadway or Richard starting that game...or Carrasco. That would also allow us to start Buehrle in the first game at TB or Boston. By the way, I think TB is a little vulnerable in the bullpen right now, Wheeler and Percival have been so-so recently. MONDAY ???? DET versus Gavin Floyd (3 day's rest) Not sure about Fausto Carmona's status, and if he will be suspended and miss his scheduled start Wednesday against Boston. If he starts WED, we would miss him. I guess that's good, he has a 5.19 ERA this season, but he's capable of being dominant. Then again, pitchers like Lewis and Jackson scare me too!!! Every opposing pitcher is scary right now for Sox fans, except Blackburn, which means he'll probably shut us out! Jensen Lewis is their closer. I think you're talking about Scott Lewis, who has been brilliant since his call-up.
  20. QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 03:58 PM) My roommate saw the press conference after one of the Twins games in Tampa, and he assures me that Gardy didn't say anything about kicking Chicago's ass. Mk. But what he did say should be a challenge to the Sox and Ozzie. They have zero respect for us, while we spew all this crap about them telling the media how good we think they are.
  21. QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 04:43 PM) He didn't say they would kick the Sox's ass, unless you didn't actually read the quote. Completely different than your interpretation. The one I read had "[butts]" in there.
  22. Gardenhire said the Twins were going to kick our ass when a Tampa columnist asked him for a scouting report on the Sox. Somebody better tell Ozzie, he isn't gonna take that s***.
  23. The softball part was absolute lulz.
  24. If Anderson learns to hit an off-speed pitch, he will be a very good player in this league. However, he's just a fastball hitter with a good glove right now. I guess you can live with that, but if that's going to be the way it goes, he's gonna get traded sooner or later. The guy is slugging at a .450 clip right now. 21 of his 41 hits are extra base hits. He's a breakthrough waiting to happen, but he's lacking a crucial skill to succeed in the Majors.
