Down 4-0 already because we can't play defense. Hudson could have made that inning real easy if he just picked the grounder from Witt. Instead it looks like he let that through on purpose at the last second. Our positioning was just not good that inning.

He seems to have issues pitching out of the stretch. I think they need to simplify his delivery. Maybe have him pitch out of the stretch all the time so he's more used to it. That could be an off-season adjustment. You can't trust him for more than 3 innings at the moment.

RIP Coop. He really was one of the most prominent coaches in White Sox history. He somehow got a Cy Young worthy year out of Esteban Loaiza and helped orchestrate one of the greatest pitching staffs of all time in 2005. I still remember him hanging up on the Score in 2011. What a guy. I think he was still doing radio appearances in the past few years too, this really came out of nowhere.

Grichuk's catch on Maikel Garcia in the first inning last night was a 3 star catch with a 60% catch probability. He had to cover 97 feet in 5.1 seconds. Also, just looking at our outfielders, Peters has by far the most range. I'm not sure if Doyle's ever played at the corners, but realistically, he should be playing RF or LF while Peters plays CF for late inning defense.

Kay and Fedde are much more likely to get hit the 3rd time around. Burke and Martin have at least shown they can go into the 6th inning recently.

Newcomb's velocity seems fine, but his control, especially on his breaking pitches, has been terrible. I think a lot of it is from fatigue. They keep expecting him to throw multiple high leverage innings at a time with 40+ pitch counts. With Schultz pitching better (and more stretched out), they need to start thinking about using him in the multi-inning roles and let Newcomb go back to being a 1 inning reliever like he was earlier in the season.

Can't rely on the Mariners for anything right now. 3 hits against the Astros worst starter and bullpen is sad.
