Offseason Targets
If Tony La Russa becomes the next manager of the White Sox, Rick Hahn should resign. He'd have another gig in 5 minutes.

FS: White Sox interested in 16-year-old Cuban OF Luis Pino
Probably 2021 in the minors and up in 2022

Cespedes could be ready pretty quick. Colas is the better fit with his left handed bat though IMO.

Sounds great in theory but it's not possible under the rules

I think they prioritize Colas and Cespedes goes elsewhere. He'll go somewhere where he can get to the majors quickly. I don't think that's in Chicago.

I disagree. The next period doesn't start until January 2022. Colas is 22 years old already. Why would they want to wait? Just land Colas in this period whenever he gets freed up IMO.

I like Ben Bailey but his biggest skill was walking a lot in the DSL vs teenagers. He's never even played stateside. Yes, these guys are all better than him.

All three are better prospects than Bailey

This is what the White Sox have committed: Norge Vera RHP Cuba ($1.5 million) Victor Quezada 3B DR ($525K) Manual Guariman C Ven ($475K) Dario Barrero OF Ven ($350K) Adrian Gil RHP Ven ($250K) Gabriel Rodriguez OF DR ($100K) Antonio Jimenez OF ($90K) That's just over $3 million and the club has $5,398,300 total to spend.

I think it's just a matter of teams not having money to give him. He was planning on signing for real money. Nobody really has it available. He'd be better off playing 3 years in Japan and signing a big league deal at 25 honestly. Also, teams aren't allowed to trade for space during the next two periods. Some clubs are really hurt by this because they're overcommitted. San Diego for example has had to renege on a few offers because they won't have the money.

Tony La Russa named Manager
Why would I write about Ozzie? Rick Hahn said at the press conference that he isn't a candidate.

Offseason Targets
I'm not questioning @Harold's Leg Liftat all. He gets good info. I'm questioning the decision making process of the organization if they spend real $$ on a backup catcher. Bringing McCann back makes very little sense.
-
Offseason Targets
Dallas Keuchel pitched better with Grandal. Let me ask you this. James McCann is on the roster and playing catcher. Who plays DH on the days McCann catches? Grandal, Abreu and Vaughn are on the roster too. None of this makes any sense.
-
Offseason Targets
They're professional athletes. If they have to have James McCann around to perform, then we're doomed and they should get rid of all of them anyway.

Offseason Targets
He shouldn't be a full time player. The smartest teams in baseball understand how to extract value platooning. Pederson has a lifetime .850 OPS and 128 wRC+ vs RHP. He shouldn't ever face lefties and playing in the ALC, he won't have to.

Offseason Targets
This would be a terrible use of limited resources

FS: 2019-2020 International Review
I broke down the White Sox signings during the 2019-2020 international period. They spent the least amount of $$ in baseball and that has to change. I discussed their penny pinching ways here: https://www.futuresox.com/2020/10/24/2019-2020-white-sox-international-review/

July 2nd Latest from Futuresox & our James
Not many. I'm real curious about this for Cespedes. Enrique Rojas says A's and Tampa are front runners for Pino with $1 million plus. Let's say the Sox sign sign Colas for like $2.2 million. Where the hell does Cespedes go?

I don't think it does. It means they won't get this Pino kid.

Yeah they apparently weren't pleased.

Tony La Russa
I’d say 3-5 including La Russa. They can’t talk to Hinch, Geren or Quatraro yet though. All external. Pitching coach likely internal though.

Tony La Russa
They’ve interviewed La Russa. And some others. A few guys can’t be interviewed yet however.
