  1. Probably relievers. I'd say Art Warren, Riley Ferrell and Tyler Jay. I have no idea what they'll actually do. Merkin and Fegan both think they might pass or trade the pick. I think that's foolish when picking 3rd personally but we'll see. Whoever they take will probably have AFL experience though haha.
  2. I agree with this. If the Sox do truly have the best offer out there, they'd like for others to think their current offers are good enough.
  3. I'd even consider it to acquire Mallex Smith personally. 25 year old LH hitting CF with a 118 wRC+ last year.
  4. I understand that. I don't think he was ever deemed part of the future though. He was a placeholder.
  5. Imagine worshipping Avisail Garcia
  6. I'm on record as not thinking the Sox needed to add a ton to the bullpen. I want to find out which of these young options will be here when the games matter. They disagree obviously. With that being said, this is a great trade. Alex Colome is really good. Narvaez hit well last year but all of his value as a hitter is dragged down by his negative value behind the plate. Narvaez wasn't going to be here when it matters so selling high makes sense. Colome also serves two masters in that he could be here to be on a better club the next couple of seasons but could also be flipped if necessary for something much more useful to the long-term future of the White Sox than Omar Narvaez was. This sets up for another veteran addition at catcher in my opinion with Zavala given the chance to compete with that guy for the backup job. I think it's definitely Collins/Zavala in 2020 though. Also, this bullpen (likely with another addition according to Hahn) could be pretty good. Colome, Jones, Hamilton, Minaya, Burr etc on the right side with Fry, Frare and Bummer on the left side with Burdi in the wings and guys like Johnson, Medeiros, Schryver not terribly far away. Good trade by the front office in my opinion.
  7. I understand that part of it. I don't think he has anything left to prove in Birmingham though is my point.
  8. Fair enough. Hostetler told me point blank at Soxfest that they don't care about his batting average. He was on base at a .382 clip. How many players in Birmingham were out more often than he was? I don't have the time to look. He struck out a ton. He'll always strike out a ton. He gets on base though. A lot.
  9. .382 OBP and 130 wRC+ in AA with 15 homers. He'll turn 24 in February. I don't care what his batting average is. The White Sox don't care what his batting average is either so we probably shouldn't. I think it's time for a push here. Lets see what playing the majority of his games in Charlotte's home park does to his power numbers. I'm expecting a huge increase. They have enough roster spots to carry 3 catchers and DH one of them every day.
  10. I think people should generally stop worrying about the big league club when the organization is trying to lose baseball games on purpose
  11. Jimenez- Charlotte (Until April 16th) Cease- Charlotte Robert- Winston- Salem (Spends most of summer in Birmingham though) Madrigal- Winston-Salem Dunning- Birmingham Rutherford- Birmingham Collins- Charlotte Basabe- Birmingham (Spends most of season in Charlotte) Hansen- Birmingham Adolfo- Birmingham Walker- Winston-Salem Burger-DL in Winston-Salem Gonzalez- Birmingham Sheets- Birmingham
  12. I've got nothing on either. WE confirmed Zavala at FS. I think Cease is a lock obviously and probably Medeiros too. We'll see
  13. Dylan Cease, Seby Zava, Kodi Medeiros and Jordan Stephens likely being added. That takes the roster to 39. Would need to maneuver further to add Adams or Thompson.
  14. I can't believe LWE lost. What a fucking epic chokejob. I hate them with a bloody passion because I coach at a rival school but I hate them more than ever now. Letting two private schools into the 8A final is gross.
  15. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2019-white-sox-top-mlb-prospects-podcast/ This is the podcast related to the White Sox top 10. Really good stuff here.
  16. Yes they do. Small market clubs that offer a QO receive a pick after the first round. Large market clubs receive a pick after Competitive Balance Round B. Clubs over the luxury tax only receive a pick after round 3
  17. I doubt it. This is why I've preached that the White Sox need to spend a shitload of money. They aren't afforded the same opportunities as these small market teams. Arizona receives their own first rounder plus a compensation pick for not signing last year's first rounder. THey'll lose two free agents and get picks after round 1. If the Sox were to lose two similar free agents, they would receive compensation after Competitive Balance Round B. It's a definite disadvantage but the Sox have more financial might than Arizona does and they need to act accordingly.
  18. This is correct, actually. My bad. Astros drafted Daz Cameron with one in 2015. They also used a Compensatory pick on LJ Hoes but it was acquired from the Orioles. They also acquired from STL and had a compensation pick under the old system in which they selected McCullers.
  19. The Astros also had the luxury of competitive balance picks and extra international space. The White Sox don't share those same perks. MLB thinks they are a big market club. It's time to act like it.
  20. They could benefit from being at home. I expect East to win by like 14-17. I don't think Loyola can score enough points. LWE has a ridiculous offense that everyone always talks about but their starting defense hasn't given up points since Week 2. They are pretty daunting. I hope we get East and BR in the finals.
  21. Yeah haha. It was at Brother Rice. That atmosphere was awesome but I remember parents and adults swearing at us as players. They were lined up right outside the fence. It was like nothing I'd ever seen before.
  22. I was on the Lockport team that defeated them in 2003. Worst atmosphere I ever played in.
  23. I try to do this every year to show where the White Sox picks will likely be. We'll just do the first two picks for now. Bryce Harper, Dallas Keuchel, Patrick Corbin, Craig Kimbrel, Yasmani Grandal, Hyun Jin Ryu and AJ Pollock all received the qualifying offer from their clubs. Arizona is the only team that will receive a pick after round 1 for their players. Boston and Washington would receive picks after round 3. Houston and Los Angeles would receive a pick after Competitive Balance Round B. The White Sox would forfeit their 2nd rounder and the bonus pool attached to sign any FA that received a QO. 1. Baltimore 2. Kansas City 3. White Sox 4. Miami 5. Detroit 6. San Diego 7. Cincinnati 8. Texas 9. Atlanta (Comp for not signing Carter Stewart) 10. San Francisco 11. Toronto 12. Mets 13. Minnesota 14. Philadelphia 15. Angels 16. Arizona 17. Washington 18. Pittsburgh 19. St. Louis 20. Seattle 21. Atlanta 22. Tampa Bay 23. Colorado 24. Cleveland 25. Dodgers 26. Arizona (Comp for not signing Matt McLain) 27. Cubs 28. Milwaukee 29. Oakland 30. Yankees 31. Dodgers (Comp for not signing JT Ginn) 32. Houston 33. Boston 34. Arizona (Patrick Corbin Compensation) 35. Arizona (AJ Pollock Compensation) Competitive Balance Round A 36. Miami 37. Cincinnati 38. Minnesota 39. Tampa Bay 40. Milwaukee 41. Oakland Round 2 42. Baltimore 43. Kansas City 44. White Sox
