  1. http://www.espn.com/blog/keith-law/insider/post?id=5999 Law said Sox Struck Prospect Gold and praised deal on their end. Even said they acquired the #1 prospect in baseball.
  2. This is outstanding. Selling high on Eaton is so smart the more I think about it. White Sox could have a top 5 system or so after 2 deals. Still have other guys to trade. You can't just try to fill spots during a rebuild. You have to acquire the most talent available. #3, #37, and Nats 2016 1st rounder. Awesome deal. Awesome day.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:07 PM) Replace Martin and Guduan with Reed and I'm in. There's a very good chance that Reed sucks.
  4. Is something like this enough for Q: RHp Francis Martes, OF Kyle Tucker, 3B JD Davis, OF Jason Martin, LHP Reymin Guduan? Martes is #29 in baseball and their top prospect. Tucker is #50 overall. JD Davis is bat first 3B. Martin is tools flyer with big power in lower minors and Guduan is LH reliever that hits 100 with bad control.
  5. Turner isn't getting traded. They'd move Turner back to SS, dump Espinosa, and play Eaton in CF
  6. I'd much rather do: Quintana to Houston for Martes, Tucker, Reed+ and Eaton to Washington for Robles, Lopez/Ross, and Severino
  7. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:00 AM) A Braves package could work built around Albies and Newcomb + Rio Ruiz would likely get the deal done That's not close IMO
  8. Here's the Baseball America (paywall) explanation from Ben Badler: http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...hyAyO7IBYWtT.97 Clubs either get $5.75, $5.25, or $4.75 million to spend on international prospects under 25 per year. Teams can trade all of their bonus amounts but can only acquire 75% of their bonus pool in trade. Here are the amounts. $5.75 million Arizona Baltimore Cleveland Colorado Kansas City Pittsburgh St. Louis San Diego $5.25 million Cincinnati Miami Milwaukee Minnesota Oakland Tampa Bay $4.75 million Atlanta Boston Chicago Cubs Chicago White Sox Detroit Houston LA Angels LA Dodgers NYM NYY Philly San Francisco Seattle Texas Toronto Washington Players that cost $10,000 or less don't count against the pool. The following teams can't spend over $300,000 on a player because they are in the penalty from previous years: Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, Royals, Athletics, Astros, Braves, Cardinals, Nationals, Padres, and Reds. All of those teams can trade their full amounts however. The White Sox can trade for up to $3.5 million more in international money. This is absolutely something that they should be doing. White Sox can spend $8.3 million internationally if they trade for the maximum that they can. I'll be very curious to see if they do this.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:55 AM) Yeah. This. They basically are sending Avi Garica for Wade Davis. Soler is still better than Garcia. He has legit in-game power. Put up a 118 wRC+ and a .350 wOBA vs LHP last year. Garcia couldn't dream of doing that.
  10. Eaton is a 6 WAR player: Bader, Flaherty, Kelly, DeJong probably still isn't enough honestly.
  11. Born May 27, 1968: Frank Thomas Born May 27, 1995: Yoan Moncada
  12. The Sox totally f***ed the Nationals last night. KW hates Mike Rizzo. They either leaked to Rosenthal and Heyman or the Nats did after thinking they had something locked up.
  13. I think I'm done here for now. More mouth breathers here than on twitter. I remember when this was an intelligent baseball site. Not sure what happened.
  14. We'd all love Turner, Giolito, and Robles. Jesus christ people. Turner was like a 3.5 WAR player last year in 70+ games. He'll be a 5 WAR position player. Sale is a a 5-6 WAR pitcher. Trading Turner to acquire Sale doesn't really do anything for the Nationals. There is no chance that they do that and we'd all be better off not expecting it anymore. Giolito is best pitching prospect (outside of Urias) in baseball. Robles is a legit stud. They need other pieces for sure and I'm guessing would get them. Bregman isn't available. Red Sox seem to be out. You can totally tell who has done research and who just chooses to freak out by just reading this thread.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) And still none of what you said changes that their best piece is still Turner. The Sox are not the ones who would be closing off and rushing negotiations when they fail to include that. Trea Turner is a 5 WAR position player that they need on their big league team. He was an unrealistic get.
  16. Giolito is #1 pitching prospect in baseball. Solid chance that Riobles is top 3 prospect in baseball next year. Fedde is very good too but Reynaldo Lopez would be pretty disgusting haul.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 11:37 AM) Honestly kind of scared of drafting an LT that high. There's only one 1st round OT in this class currently. Ryam Ramczyk from Wisconsin. Possible Cam Robinson from Bama as well. Not a good OT class.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 11:26 AM) Okay. Make Turner available and maybe something can happen. No way they get both Sale and Cutch without him. I don't think Cutch has the value that people think. He's not good defensively anymore, wants to play CF, and was a negative WAR player last year.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) This is a great idea in principle but Washington would have to allow the Sox to clean out their system for me to consider it. For Robertson? No. It'd be like 1 extra piece. And they pay the 2/25 contract.
  20. I wonder if Nationals would be interested in Robertson or Jones with Sale since Melancon is going to the Giants
  21. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:13 AM) Can someone tell me why Washington is so appealing if Turner isn't involved? Giolito has already had TJ and didn't do much of anything at the big league level, and Robles is a 19 year old in A ball. The Sox can't develop a player like him. Mike, Giolito is the best pitching prospect in the minor leagues and is close to ML ready. Robles is #10 prospect in baseball according to MLB.com. He's the type guy that you acquire and is the #1 prospect in all of baseball in a year and a half. If the Sox can't develop Victor Robles, then they are screwed as an organization and doomed to fail anyway.
  22. Western Kentucky HC Jeff Brohm is the new coach at Purdue. Excellent hire for the Boilermakers. I love his pro style spread system. It's a tough rebuild there but he's a Petrino disciple and really knows QBs and the passing game. Has a good young QB in David Blough.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:00 AM) He spent last season entirely in the secondary. He's just not very good at coverage which is why he was converted to an OLB this year. He's good at setting the edge and blitzing. Jourdan Lewis is head and shoulders a better defensive player and playmaker. Stribling actually had an awesome year as well. Malik Hooker is going to be a dynamic safety in the NFL, however right now he's leaning towards staying. If someone is hell bent on taking a Big Ten defensive player in the first round, Lewis is the hands down no brainer selection. I don't think Lewis meets the Bears Arm Length and Height threshold at CB though. The kid at Iowa is better than Lewis. Both guys at Ohio State (Conley, Lattimore) are both better too.
  24. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:36 AM) Me too. Although there's a lot of questions in it, you get 2 top 20 guys in Giolito and Robles, 2 guys to plug instantly at the back end in Ross and AJ Cole. Depends what the other remaining piece or 2 would be. You'd get 2 top 10 guys in Giolito and Robles. #3 and #10
