  1. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) Just my opinion but it just may have something to do with: A. Three straight losing seasons B. Six losing seasons in nine years (worst stretch since 1968-1980) C. One playoff appearance in nine years D. Five playoff appearances in 35 years Having a good start for 10 days doesn't magically erase all that. It's going to take time and CONSISTENT winning to bring the fans back. I'm not saying win multiple World Series, that's not going to happen but making the expanded playoffs two or three years in a row would help a lot. And unfortunately the Sox haven't been able to do that...ever. Unlike some I don't blame the fans. When a restaurant gives you bad food you don't go back...when the hardware store sells you a defective tool you don't go back. Sports is no different. When the product is good and worth seeing the fans will return. Until then the onus is on ownership to make it so. Mark I'm not expecting 30,000 people but last night was embarrassing.
  2. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 11:18 AM) Yay, this thread again. I'm sorry that you were forced to post in it.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) People that boo their own players are just idiots. Plain and simple. Unless he's blatantly playing lazy, you don't boo your own players. As far as how many people were in the park last night, that's not our problem. I guess I just don't really understand why there weren't more people. Rodon was pitching against a team with the best player in baseball. It was nice out in Chicago. The team is in 1st place. Fanbase is full of a bunch of bickering excuse makers. I shouldn't have been surprised I guess.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 09:10 AM) Does it not phase kenny williams, hahn, and reinsdorf on what is happening on the north side? This cub team has a window of at least five years to be great and we continue to do the same thing over and over again. Not complaining just a thought. I think they care far more about what the Tigers, Indians, Royals ,and Twins are doing.
  5. The Sox should have just gone to Danks last night in the 1st inning and then started Rodon again on Thursday.
  6. QUOTE (Boogua @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 07:46 AM) He reminds me much more of Forte than he does of Faulk. Faulk was a decent amount smaller and faster than Elliot. Forte had similar size and speed. Obviously, if Elliot has the career that Forte had, that's one hell of a career. Elliott actually reminds me of a healthy Frank Gore.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 09:12 AM) I saw that the Browns are looking to trade down also, it was @profootballtalk They want to move out. Goff is going #1. Someone that wants to guarantee themselves Wentz could come up for him. Probably need to get in front of Dallas.
  8. I went last night. There were like 15,000 in the house to see a 1st place team with nice weather. And then the people that were there booed Rodon on his way off the field. This f***ing terrible fan base deserves everything it gets. It was a joke. I told everyone around me that was booing that they were clowns. They didn't like it very much.
  9. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 18, 2016 -> 11:01 AM) Not in the first round I wouldn't. Too many good OL, DL and LB available to spend the 1st pick on a RB. There really aren't though. Probably won't be a sure fire LT on the board. There really aren't DL that offer great value at 11 outside of Buckner for Bears scheme. If Elliott is on the board, he's most likely the best player on the board.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 18, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) I'd be fully on board with that. I think the Rams will move up to grab Stanley though and if they don't, only way Stanley gets to Bears is if Giants grade Conklin out better as Giants are for sure going oline. Rumors that Giants may take Leonard Floyd at 10. I don't think anything is a lock this year.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 18, 2016 -> 10:33 AM) I'm torn by thinking that Elliot is both very good, but also knowing that the Rams added maybe the best RB in the league last year and their offense ended up basically the same (bad). They don't have a QB though. Rams probably make the playoffs with Cutler.
  12. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 18, 2016 -> 10:09 AM) Saw a horrible mock that had the Bears taking Ezekiel Elliot and Braxton Miller. That 1st rounder would be fine.
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 16, 2016 -> 01:04 PM) Where you seeing this? http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=2...sp&sid=t487 Michael Ynoa also headed to Charlotte
  14. QUOTE (scs787 @ Apr 15, 2016 -> 09:56 AM) Wow, that's really surprising to me. Kid looks like a monster. I guess basing things off a mixtape highlight reel is a bad way to scout a kid. He's a 19 year old 7 footer. He'll go in round 1. Go look at lottery picks every year.
  15. QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 14, 2016 -> 12:44 PM) lol, I didn't think you actually had a basis in reality for your rant. You just proved my point. You can be as bitter and angry as you like, but it would be nice if it at least some realism to it. bitter at the cheapness of the owners, yes as a fan i am pissed about that. No, in the middle of March, there was no magic player that the White Sox were going to find to replace Avi Garcia because there weren't any. The only players available were more Avi Garcia's who might be better, but were probably just going to be a different smell of garbage. you are creative in your slant or rant esp against me. you answered this whole thing with the bold. In reality, no one wanted to break camp with Garcia as a starter, including Jerry, Kenny, and Rick, and how do you know this, b/c you come up with a scenario.... pretty much as i did and you are saying i am wrong.... haha which is why they spent a good chunk of the winter trying to replace him. They made competitive to leading offers to at least Gordon, Cespedes, and Fowler as clear upgrades. Even after that they still went out and signed Austin Jackson and used him to push Garcia to the bench. It wasn't about being cheap and keeping money. All you have to do to know that is a lie is what the team did over the winter that directly contradicts that. you keep moving the goal line to fit your argument into a thought you are imagining. again, i am not talking about cespy or any other improvements, i am talking about finishing the job up to 2 weeks ago when players were avial. By the time that LaRoche walked out on his team, every single decent player was gone. Again, this is reality. If you can prove me wrong, please feel free to do so with some actual names. again, i care rats arse on laroche. this has nothing to do with him. Yes it does have to do with LaRoche. Garcia would be DHing vs LHP only if LaRoche didn't retire.
  16. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Apr 14, 2016 -> 11:24 AM) If the Sox agreed with this, he wouldn't be in the lineup five days a week. Ishikawa or Davidson would be on the 25-man roster instead. I agree that Avi needs to take a big step forward this year, and that's what the Sox are giving him the opportunity to do. If he doesn't show them something this year, he'll probably be dealt for an inconsequential player in the offseason. But I have no problem with the Sox giving a 24-year-old more time to prove himself, particularly when their options are limited. They tried to replace him all offseason. They basically made him a platoon guy with the Jackson addition. And then LaRoche retired.
  17. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 14, 2016 -> 11:00 AM) TT is a plus defender and baserunner. That cherry-picked slash line doesn't float when it's attached to one of the worst corner OF defenders in the majors. I really don't know that he HAS shown flashes of anything. He's had a good game here and there, sure, but there's been no significant stretch of time where he's been even above replacement level. I get that he's athletic and has upside -- we all do -- but the reason this thread was started isn't because of a bad 8-game stretch, it's because of a bad 250-game stretch. Yeah I agree with this. He has no redeeming qualities. He's a horrible defender and he doesn't hit enough to DH. He's one of the 5 worst players in all of baseball. I don't expect the experiment to last long honestly.
  18. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 14, 2016 -> 08:19 AM) Wow. Can't imagine this turns out well for the Rams long-term. That's a ton of picks to give up. Probably true. If Wentz or Goff is a franchise guy though it's totally worth it.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 14, 2016 -> 08:16 AM) Titans got the 15th, 43rd, 45th, and 76th picks this year, and also the Rams 1st and 3rd rounder next year. That is a franchise changer This is a massive haul for the Titans. Franchise changing package with their QB already in place.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 08:16 PM) Similar to his first outing where he gave up the big hit with 2 outs. Kind of shocking how bad he's been in his first two outings. AA is hard.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 02:05 PM) Goff pretty much saying that Gar Forman will not be employed by the Bulls after this season is over Did he say that on the radio today? Transition?
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) I think he's generalizing by how close he is with the Duck Dynasty fellas who are huge biggots. Yes. The White Sox let him have his "Religious Freedom" night or whatever the hell it was last year hosted at US Cellular by a bigot. He's a weirdo. I'm glad he's gone.
  23. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 01:00 PM) Some very anti-LaRoche people here. What did he do wrong? He made a personal decision that he's made enough money doing his job and wanted to retire if it wasn't going the way he planned. Don't get why it's any skin off our nose. He prepared, worked hard and did what was asked of him. Seems like an overall great guy who cares about the integrity of a person. World would probably be better with more people like him. So what he didn't hit a little white ball very well for us. He's not making any stink about this. Guarantee if this was 1990 when this happened there would be one newspaper article about it in the Sun-Times and Trib and be done. Media driven right now. There would be a lot more people who like to discriminate against gay people and kill animals for fun that's for sure.
  24. QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 11:58 AM) I don't think trading down should really be an option. They need impact players. They can find good players in FA as they have done. Impact players are too expensive for FA and hurt the team in the long term. But to be a championship caliber team, they need to draft the impact players. I do. I think there are like 8 studs. Most players 15-50 are similar so trading down makes sense. There's a definite scenario where it'd be best case. Lets say for example the top 10 is: Tunsil OT, Ramsey S, Wentz QB, Goff QB, Jack LB, Stanley OT, Buckner DL, Elliott RB, Bosa DL, Hargreaves CB. That scenario probably leaves Edge Rusher Shaq Lawson as best case scenario for Bears. Guys like A'Shawn Robinson and Leonard Floyd are flawed and not worth #11. William Jackson is probably the next best CB ( Fits Fangio mold, has met with Bears) but probably is a reach at #11. There are also some OTs available but I'm not sure if they can play LT and that's only spot on Bears OL open. Trading down could be the best case scenario but it's not always very likely.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 12:42 PM) Tell me who this sounds like Marc Trestman?
