How much of Chris Kyle's life is covered in American Sniper? He supposedly made up a lot of the stories in his life after the war. I have read a lot of stuff on him and he just seems like a guy that had something wrong with him and couldn't live with not being a "hero".

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 16, 2015 -> 05:59 AM) Exactly. I have no problem with an athlete thinking that. If some fan came up to me and said it, I'd shake my head at him in embarassment. That said, he better perform or the vultures will attack him. And he said it during a Fan Convention. Non story.

2014-2015 NFL Football thread
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 10:47 AM) Would Marrone take an OC job? Right now his stock may be down, but he's getting $4 mill and has a cozy consultant job in Houston if he wants to just sit on his $4 million with no stressful responsibilities or projects and that allows him another season to try and find a better opportunity for him personally. Right now the Bears offense seems like a shipwreck and he is in charge of trying to turn it around. Not that it's impossible, but it's not the easiest thing to do. Fox would supposedly bring Kyle Shanahan as OC. Which would be awesome.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 09:07 AM) Hub Arkush has some weird negativity toward Fox. I don't want to discredit 2 superbowls, but NFL is also a what have you done for me lately league and his Washington days were very dysfunctional, so were latter Denver years. His argument seems to be that Fox is being forced on Pace. I'd want to know if that's the truth, or if it's just a convenient media narrative to latch on to "Bears want to pair experienced coach with youthful GM". Hub Arkush not wanting John Fox is one of the reasons I really want them to hire him. Hub is a dope.

2015 MLB Draft
QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 01:01 AM) i don't know what the sox brass priority will be. i also think it will depends on how Hawkins does. It won't depend on Hawkins. You take the best player on the board. Regardless of anything else.

If you could acquire one last player to complete the offseason...
Brandon Beachy and Francisco Rodriguez would be nice. Can't ever have enough pitching.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) Thing about Fox is he has successfully built two winning coaching staffs. let to be said about that. Perry Fewell could be the DC Could be Dennis Allen or Jim Schwartz as well. Dream staff would be: Schwartz as DC, Shanahan as OC, and Keith Armstrong as ST Coordinator. Very wishful thinking.

2015 NFL Draft Thread
QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) I'm not a fan of Collins at 7 overall. To me, he's a guy you take in the mid-teens, and even then, I'm not 100% sure on him. If you take a Safety in the Top 10, he better be an Eric Berry or Sean Taylor quality of player. Landon Collins isn't on that level. Completely agree with this. If I'm taking a top ten safety, he better be an absolute stud.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 10:11 AM) Fox and Del Rio would work for me. The Broncos have three all-pro defensive backs. They know how to develop talent. Del Rio will get the HC job in Oakland. I think Fox would bring Dennis Allen as his DC. Not sure who the OC would be.

2015 NFL Draft Thread
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 08:55 AM) He's a great all around safety. A better prospect than any of the safeties last year. I think he ends up going top 10, top 15 at worst. I disgaree. He's better than last year's guys. There will be better players at different positions on the board though when the Bears choose.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 08:33 AM) Landon Collins. Landon Collins isn't good enough to go #7 if Ryan Pace is honest about taking the best player available. Collins is overrated. More of a box safety. Good player but not worth a top 10 pick.

2014-2015 NCAA football thread
QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 11:13 PM) Cardale should declare. He is pretty old for a college QB and no guarantee he starts next year. Probably would be a mid round pick given his size and arm. I actually think he'd be the 3rd QB of the board. He's 22 and has a kid? I think he goes pro.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 11:49 PM) Cardale Jones for #1 pick! He should and will enter the draft in my opinion. He's already 22 years old, has a kid, and will have to compete with Barrett to start next year. He's looking at being the 3rd QB off the board in April. I think he leaves.

John Fox's best friend in the business is Sean Payton. From 99-02 with NYG Accorsi was GM, Fox DC, and Payton OC. Fox to Bears makes a ton of sense.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) If he did it for the cash, well that's one thing. Falcons have a built in offense, something he never had in NY. They need work on defense, but they have the 8th overall pick and a full draft to get better. They are also in one of the worst divisions in the league. I don't know, but it seems like a perfect fit. Atlanta does seem like a nice fit. Dimitroff didn't want to hire Rex Ryan though. So instead of being strung along, he took the Buffalo job.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 09:12 AM) I can't figure out why Rex Ryan took the Buffalo job. Isn't that pretty much the Jets about 5 years ago? Great defense with no QB and no first round pick this year. I'll take Matt Ryan and the Falcons defense rebuild any day over that. Well he thought that Atlanta wanted to hire someone else. SF was going in another direction. He didn't truly want to work in tv. Buffalo offered him $27 million and he took it. That's what happened.

2015 NFL Draft Thread
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 10, 2015 -> 09:30 AM) If the Bears go 3-4, there very well could be. OLBs Shane Ray (Missouri) and Vic Beasley (Clemson) could be very good edge rusher like Aldon Smith. With that said, we really can't think of any players yet because we don't have a Head Coach. It'll also be interesting to see how they turn over this roster. Is Marshall done? Jennings? Pace got a 5 year contract because the Bears liked his long term plan. In my opinion, I really hope the Bears try to trade some of the veterans (Marshall, Cutler, Allen, Jennings) and just start the rebuild. Randy Gregory, Bud Dupree, and Dante Fowler are also top notch pass rushers. Very deep class at the position.

predictions
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jan 10, 2015 -> 08:16 AM) No surprise by the cubs predictions since they have always been media darlings anyway. Besides, I like the idea of getting their fans hopes up just to have those hopes come crashing down. I give them credit for taking many steps in the right direction but until those youngsters show they can produce at the big league level, they have their hands full with teams like St.Louis, Milwaukee, Pitt and even Cinci. Cubs still need a better rotation too. As for the Tiger, I think their reign is over. IMO, the Sox or Indians win the ALC in 2015. The Cubs are going to be a really fun team to watch. They aren't ready yet though.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 09:16 AM) A reporter from New Orleans felt that he had been sought out and offered more jobs over the past couple of years but he always wanted more control than was offered. Ted Phillips is the President of Football Operations while not making moves or evaluating talent he has a role and the GM reports to him so he is a layer of management that has some over-site along with the Board over the GM This isn't really true though. Ted Phillips doesn't make football decisions.
