QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 04:39 PM) Did you join that page then search "Bulls"? I just did and there are now 2 guys selling tickets. I'm too lazy to take a screen shot of all the pics (between the 2 guys selling em there are 5 different pics) Yeah I joined the group. I'll try again. Thanks for your help man.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 11:11 PM) Brother Rice is trending upward, baby. Looking like a contender. They are good. I've always hated Brother Rice. I was on the 2003 state championship team at Lockport and those fans at BR were the worst I ever heard in 4 years of HS football. Old Irish cops dropping f bombs and other expletives at opposing HS players. Real classy bunch back then. Whipping their ass was fun.

Sox Rankings in Baseball America Top 20s For Every League

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 05:46 PM) I take it that he was ranked higher because of how much improved and bounced back. Personally, outside of Rodon he has the highest ceiling in the system. I think Adolfo and Anderson may have higher ceilings than Hawkins actually but yes I get your point. -

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 06:45 AM) I would give him $8M guaranteed for one year and the rest would be incentives. I don't imagine him getting a QO either, which is good for the Sox. He isn't eligible for a QO because he was traded at midseason. -
QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 3, 2014 -> 01:29 PM) Just saw a post on facebook of a guy who has season tickets and is selling em off just 10 min ago. I've never been to a Bulls game but he has the prices listed in a picture and they look pretty reasonable. I can't post the pic here, so you'd have to join this facebook group.... https://www.facebook.com/groups/401015993330956/?fref=nf There's a search tool where you can type in Bulls and I'm sure the post will pop up. If for whatever reason you don't have a facebook, he has his number listed and I can also relay the prices of games you're interested in. I couldn't find the guy. I'd be interested in seeing what games he has for sale and the price if that;s possible. Thanks.

Josh Norris and Bill Mitchell had some good stuff on twitter about Micker Adolfo yesterday. I can't go on twitter at work but it's worth posting if someone can find it. He had a homer, double, stolen base, and an impressive walk yesterday.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 3, 2014 -> 08:42 AM) I've heard it's free? That seems kind of crazy but that's what I've been told. And they serve beer!!! It is free but it's supposedly really hard to get tickets. You have to stand and wait in a really long line. -

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 3, 2014 -> 12:32 AM) Some reporter(s) in STL saying that the Rams to LA is a done deal. Will be announced after the Super Bowl I guess. As a Rams fan, I'm not pleased. I don't want to be have to be someone who roots for an LA team. If true, I think the next move will be Jacksonville moving to St. Louis. Khan would love to be in STL. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 2, 2014 -> 02:02 PM) I hope that they can try Kyle Long at RT next year. Jordan Mills just isn't cutting it. I'm all for an upgrade to Jordan Mills but I hope it isn't Long. Kyle Long is great at OG and he has short arms for an OT. He's in the perfect spot. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 2, 2014 -> 12:15 PM) I like Surkamp a lot more than I like Snodgress, and I think Webb might make the team too, but it looks like a reasonable foundation. You would hope you can do something in a trade where you don't have to eat his entire contract. I meant to include Daniel Webb. I just don't see Danks in next year's rotation. I know it's tough to just assume that he will get dealt but I think he'll get dealt. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 2, 2014 -> 11:05 AM) The only name where I think they'll aim for something a bit more proven or with a better track record is the left handed power bat. There's just a ton that can go wrong with Pedro Alvarez and only a little that can go right. They may have interest, but I'm guessing he'd be about 5th or 6th on the list and it's just as likely, if not likelier, that someone else would scoop him up before the Sox would. Very understandable. Hes youngish and definitely available though so I put him. What are everyone's thoughts on a staff like this....... 1. Chris Sale 2. Jose Quintana 3. RHP #3 type (Masterson, McCarthy, Volquez, etc) 4. Hector Noesi 5. Chris Bassitt 6. Carlos Rodon (Most likely by June) Bullpen RHP Soria RHP Putnam RHP Guerra RHP Petricka LHP Duke LHP Snodgress -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2014 -> 09:50 AM) And if JR wants it, it will happen. Honestly, I think we have already gotten the shopping list between bits of what Jerry, Kenny, and Rick have said. We know they want a RHSP. We know they want a LH power hitter. We know they have been working hard on a deal to bring in someone through a 3 way deal, which could still happen. We know they are going to address the pen. Any speculation about the off season should be based on those points. I'll take a stab at it: Justin Masterson, Zach Duke, Joakim Soria, Pedro Alvarez, and Dustin Ackley. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2014 -> 09:06 AM) Higher draft pick, less money for the draft, less money for the international pool, etc. I felt that way last year and this year. I'm ready for them to compete next year though with a legitimate shot at winning the division in 2016. -
Yeah I agree on Gotham. It has been really good so far.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 2, 2014 -> 10:07 AM) This week's opponent has the kind of offense that gives the Bears D problems: an offense with a quarterback. Ehh not really. They don't really have any weapons. And Newton isn't the same player right now. He's really banged up. -

So Hockey People: When is this trade going to happen? -
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 2, 2014 -> 09:17 AM) The difference between him and Rodon is Rodon would have to spend all of next season in the minors and potentially not be called up in 2016. The cubs have cost Bryant one year of free agency already which could be upwards of $20M down the road. Very true. Rodon will most likely be up by June.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 2, 2014 -> 09:07 AM) There is absolutely no way that Bryant is "on board" with the Cubs delaying his service time clock and potentially costing him money. Especially after he has destroyed all minor league pitching. He wants to be in the majors now and thinks he should be. Is he gonna come out and say that publicly? Of course not. Now if Wittenmeyer said that Bryant will hold this against the Cubs 6 years from now, then he is also an idiot. I think you have said this later in the thread, but 6 years from now, Bryant will sign with whatever team offers him x + 1 dollars, if it is the Cubs or not. That's fair. I think when you hire Boras though, the team has to do everything possible to suck every ounce out of service time. Players that sign with him should know that.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2014 -> 09:03 AM) I have the feeling a few posters would actually be very dissappointed if KW is correct and the Sox actually have a good team next season. Why would anyone be disappointed with that? -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 2, 2014 -> 08:56 AM) Brad Pitt did. I mean Jonah Hill. Somebody wrote it. Somebody not named Kenny Williams Isn't it Joe Morgan that still thinks the book was written by Billy Beane? haha

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 2, 2014 -> 08:16 AM) Right. This is essentially what Baltimore did last year. The opportunity cost for bringing in one guy with a qualifying offer is giving up the second round pick, so you have to weigh the risk/reward of that one free agent against that one pick. If you bring in two players who receive qualifying offers, you give up a third round pick, which is valued less and is worse than a second round pick, while (for the most part) the rest of the teams in the majors are weighing giving up a first or second round pick for that player, so you are immediately gving up less than those teams. Thus, by signing two free agents who have been made qualifying offers, you are diversifying your risks while giving up a lesser valued asset to do so. Preferably you just don't give up anything and you can sign good players without giving up draft picks, but if the most talented players are receiving QO's, I feel you are at an advantage comparatively speaking by bringing in two of them as opposed to just the one. It also depends on the possible upside of these guys as well. If Player A is viewed as a 1.5 WAR reliever with no draft pick compensation and Player B is a 2 WAR player tied to draft pick compensation, you would try to sign Player A, even at a slightly higher AAV, compared to player B to retain the draft pick. Just that, if you do sign Player B in this instance, you are only giving up a 3rd round pick as opposed to a 2nd. You don't just give up the pick though. You give up the right to use that slotted bonus amount as well. It's a big deal. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 1, 2014 -> 02:58 PM) He did not have a major motion picture made about him. There was a major motion picture that was made about the book Moneyball, which was written by Michael Lewis as he documented the Oakland Athletics' season and organizational philosophy (which was fluffed to no end). Beane did do something ground-breaking and radical when he came into the job in Oakland, and now every team in the majors is doing it. It doesn't mean he's the only smart GM in the game. Wait Billy Beane didn't write Moneyball?
