  1. Fulmer has another option for next year and they will most certainly not DFA Giolito prior to 2019. It will be a pretty easy choice for the front office.
  2. Oh I was just kidding and I’m pretty sure there is bad blood between him and our front office due that David Wells / Mike Sirotka deal. He’s probably the last guy I would trust in terms of White Sox rumors.
  3. The problem for fringe guys like Delmonico is they have to make their opportunities count. Davidson has taken advantage of his and Nicky has not. Once Avi is back and Jimenez is up, there simply won’t be much playing time available for Delmonico.
  4. This is just a horribly simplistic way to look at things. First off, your once again under-estimating his velocity based on one start. I’d wager he sits closer to 93 MPH and tops at 95 to 96. Second, even if he was typically in the 90 to 92 range, you’re ignoring the heavy sink on his fastball and his ability to command the pitch. MLBpipeline has already bumped him 18 spots on their top 100 list. He may not have have ace upside, but the kid is a bulldog and probably has the best chance of being a quality major league starter out of anyone in our system. Your pessimism with him is completely unfounded.
  5. There is nothing wrong with a 25 year old, 3+ WAR SS and that’s what Tim will be by the end of the season. A few people focus too much on the mistakes he makes and ignore the fact Tim is already a pretty good player and has the tools to become a great one. We’re already seeing substantial progress with his plate discipline, which was the one area that could limit his ceiling. He’s going to be a key part of core whether people like it or not.
  6. The hatred for Tim Anderson by a select few on this board is really bizarre.
  7. He’s a bench piece, I don’t think they expect to get much playing time.
  8. How the fuck does Dunning have marginal stuff?
  9. I’m not sure I follow. Won’t the outfield simply be Leury, Engel, & Palka/Trayce with Rondon serving as the backup infielder?
  10. Covey has surprisingly been awesome his last three starts. While it’s a complete long-shot he ever amounts to anything, he deserves a look over the other trash in Charlotte (given that Kopech & Stephens aren’t coming until they’re ready).
  11. But Keith Law said the Sox wouldn’t consider him because of Anderson & Moncada and who would have more insider information to White Sox happenings than Keith Law! But joking aside, this is obviously a good sign if you’re pro Madrigal.
  12. Also, this effectively ends Delmonico’s tenure as a starter IMO. By the time he is back I think Jimenez will be on the brink of a call-up.
  13. Wow, talk about a disastrous season for our OF group. I don’t even need to look at the numbers to tell you they are the worst OF group in the MLB and probably in recent baseball history. Our one “semi-established” OF got off to a rough start and is now injured and is out god knows how long. His trade value deteriorates by the day. Our CF is one of the worst White Sox players I have ever seen, right up there with Jacob May & Andy Gonzalez. Our LF went from an interesting rebuilding season flyer guy to replacement level player with no pop in like six weeks. The replacements include a guy who can’t hit (Thompson) and a guy who may be the worst defensive OF I have seen in my lifetime (Palka). When Leury Garcia is your best healthy major league OF you know things have gone really bad and I say that as a fan of his. Oh yeah, and don’t forgot our best OF option in AAA getting injured and missing the opportunity of a lifetime to be the one turd to rise to the top. At least we know brighter days are ahead.
  14. I will say this, thank god we have a fourth option with this kid. Normally this would be a make or break year for him, but for whatever reasons he’s eligible to go to Charlotte for the 2019 season. And honestly, I have no idea what the answer is for the kid but I’m more than fine with him spending another season and a half in AAA getting some much needed development. In hindsight, it was pretty absurd to think Cooper could magically fix him at the major league level given him horrific minor league numbers.
  15. Who in the world said he nothing left to prove in AAA?
  16. His numbers were pretty damn good prior to his 4th inning blowup in his last start. If he strings three more quality starts together I think he’ll be up soon.
  17. I meant mid April 2019, but you’re right, any later and you then face the super 2 question.
  18. I’m going to say this. We should not be using the 4th overall pick based on the struggles of a couple pitching prospects or a need at the major league level. But even if we ignore that logic, I’d argue drafting Madrigal is the better way to address the pitching staff than Singer. The reason for that is twofold. First, you avoid the inherent injury risks that come with pitching prospects. Second, if guys like Giolito & Lopez fail, we’re more likely to trade for a controllable arm than wait for Singer to reach the pros. As such, I take Madrigal because he is the better & safer trade chip. And if I don’t end up needing to trade for pitching, great I selected the BPA and have a damn good middle infield prospect in my system that provides much needed depth.
  19. What’s more impressive though? K rate is basically the same, BB rate is down a point & a half, ISO is up slightly, line drive rate about the same. Sure, his BABIP is up 75 points but how much of that is real? He’s hitting more grounders and less infield fly balls, so maybe some of it is legit, but he’s due for some serious regression and when that happens his numbers will most likely look very similar.
  20. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?cid=&lid=&org=145&sc=&sid=milb&t=affiliate&ymd=20180518 Would be nice to see a great start from Kopech today.
  21. I’m not sure his numbers look much better than last year, seem like they are really driven by the .400 BABIP you mentioned.
  22. Much needed win. Let’s try to string several together and get one of those streak things.
