He’s about as bad as Ventura with the in game stuff.
-
Jesus’s fucking Christ. Team is an absolute joke.
-
Why couldn’t his stuff return if moved back to relieving?
-
That’s totally fair. I just wouldn’t give Carson as much rope as someone like Giolito. Like as soon as Jordan Stephens is ready for a look (assuming Rondon & Kopech already with team) I’m ready to have Fulmer transition to the pen.
-
I think a strong argument can be made to try developing Fuller as a reliever and doing so soon. He can still be valuable coming out of the bullpen and we certainly could use help there. I just don’t see how anyone who has followed Carson’s career could honestly believe he is starting material.
-
Come on Fulmer, stop nibbling and go after these guys when you get ahead in the count.
-
God I hate Schwarber so much.
-
Seems like one of those days where Fulmer will either throw a no-no or will get roughed up real bad and be taken out within three innings.
-
Sounds like the Reds are all over Singer at #5, so I doubt you get him underslot. India taking #10 pick money would give us roughly $2M to play with. In a deep draft with very few elite talents, that makes the most sense IMO. Having said that, I’m starting to get a bit worried there will be several teams in the 4 to 10 range looking to make underslot deals with India. That could hurt our negotiating leverage and I’m only taking India at #4 if we get significant savings.
-
100% agree when picking as high as we are.
-
More important for hitters than pitchers IMO since there is generally better off-speed stuff to deal with in AAA.
-
And the 2018 metrics are about equal for April & May. Just from watching him you see how much more selective he is this year. I wouldn’t rush to consider him the long-term answer at DH, but he’s suddenly a guy worth investing a bit more time in and finding out.
-
God I love the days when Kopech & Cease both pitch.
-
Man this is really tough. Bohm is super intriguing to me, but after that there are a ton of question marks. Really think cutting a huge underslot deal with India or Kelenic might make the most sense assuming Mize & Bohm are already off the board. If we have to go full slot, I’d probably go with Madrigal or Singer in that order.

Race for the worst 2018 record (Top 5 pick) again
Chicago White Sox replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Oh I have no problem with knowing where we stand. Honestly, it makes the losing a bit easier to digest knowing we’re looking at another top pick. I just can’t personally cheer for losses this early into the season. -
2018 White Sox catch-all thread

I thought you were buddies with Reinsdorf? -
Is Davidson even going to play today?
-
Why does any of this matter? He has nearly a 200 wRC+ despite playing half his games in a pitchers park. Dude isn’t be challenged right now and that’s what development is all about.

Race for the worst 2018 record (Top 5 pick) again
Chicago White Sox replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Nor is it enjoyable. I’m all for supporting the tank down the stretch, but it’s way too early to cheer for losses. -
No way are they keeping Eloy in AA until the middle of the middle of June. I get it would be a nice story, but Jimenez’s developmental needs better come first.
-
There is zero chance that happens as both guys are close to ready right now. Kopech’s BB rate is the lowest it’s been since Low A. To say he’s struggling with his control is ignoring the type of pitcher Kopech actually is. The changeup is the one developmental need preventing him from a callup and Hahn has made some comments that it’s coming along nicely. If so, I am confident he’ll be up as soon as the Super 2 deadline passes. As for Eloy, there is really no point for him being in AA right now. He’s making a joke out of the league. AAA should provide more of a challenge since guys will likely have better off-speed pitches, but I fully expect him to dominate there as well. At some point facing major league pitching is what’s best for his development and I don’t think they can wait until next year for that. I really think he’s up after the All-Star break. And I’ll reiterate we’re burning control of potential key assets in Moncada, Lopez, & Giolito. Obviously we shouldn’t rush prospects or forfeit team control within reason, but we also shouldn’t be playing ridiculous service time games. At the very minimum we can’t down hold down a guy like Kopech until next April. He made a total of 11 & 22 A+ & AA starts respectively and now we’re proposing he makes 40+ starts in AAA? Just not going to happen. They could do it with Jimenez, but I think that would be doing a disservice to his development and our ability to be competing by 2020.

Hahn on Kopech/Jimenez/timelines for promotion
Chicago White Sox replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Kopech & Jimenez will both be up before August if healthy. Kopech should early June and Jimenez should be early July. -
Who will survive out of the Sox pen?
Chicago White Sox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The obvious answers should be Bummer or Fry. Both guys have a chance to be long-term fixtures in the pen. -
I’d consider that a huge loss. If one of Eloy or Robert doesn’t become a legit superstar that’s a legit failure. Honestly hoping both do and we can get one more solid starting OF out of the other three guys.
-
Wow wow wow, slow down there Lillian. The only guy who is most certaintly going to be a major leaguer is Jimenez and you want to move him to 1B? You give him LF until he proves it’s hurting his overall value or someone forces the issue. It will be a couple years before enough of these OFs even make it a consideration and that’s assuming all goes well. None of the guys after Eloy are sure things and have significant development ahead of them still.
