  1. He has been much better, I can’t deny that. Just don’t understand what Cooper is doing with Lopez. Have him throw the changeup more when he’s ahead in the count. Who cares if he the results aren’t great in the short-run, relying on two pitches isn’t helping his development.
  2. Yeah, a little concerning TBH.
  3. They had basically the same K rate coming into tonight. The problem for Lopez is relying too much on the fastball & slider and completely ignoring the change & curveball. Also, why do you always exclude Giolito from these comparisons? His K rate is much worse than Lopez’s.
  4. Also, Shields’ xFIP is at -1.21 tonight...lol.
  5. James Shields is on pace for 27 K’s & 9 HR’s. I think I’ll take that line.
  6. Yeah, usually success at AA results in big jumps in the prospect rankings.
  7. Solid at-bat there against some nasty pitches.
  8. Skaggs looks like he might want to set the strikeout record tonight. We’ll have to see if Shields can continue to keep pace.
  9. Only 70th.
  10. I rescind this post, although to his credit it’s Mike Trout.
  11. Shields got that swag tonight in what should be his final Sox start.
  12. Oh trust me, I’m not giving him a ton of credit for Cease’s success, but he made some gutsy calls that really paid off.
  13. Final line for Cease: 7 IP, 12 K, 1 BB, 1 H, 0 R, 63/101 strikes
  14. Also, Collins probably deserves some credit for calling a great game.
  15. And you can cancel the post game show. Single with two outs into the 7th ends it.
  16. Doesn’t look like a big return at face value, but Spanberger has big power and is putting up some ridiculous numbers in A ball (probably a little old for the league though).
  17. Sure, I can’t imagine he was this good with the Cubs to earn that compliment, but it indicate the kind of stuff he has.
  18. Cease perfect through 6 innings now with 10 K’s and 50 of 73 pitches for strikes (68%). Had two little dribblers that almost ruined it for him, but made two quality fielding plays to keep the dream alive.
  19. He still needs to build up innings so no need to rush him, but I could see an early promotion to AAA next year and a 2019 major league appearance is a very realistic possibility now.
  20. I mean, he looks like a Kopech caliber prospect tonight. I can’t underscore how dominant he looks right now.
  21. I highly recommend that anyone with MILBTV watch this Barons game. Cease with 9 K’s through 5 perfect innings with 43 of 62 pitches for strikes (69%). He really looks incredible tonight. Just got a swinging K on a 3-2 count on a changeup.
  22. Basabe with a single to extend his hitting streak to 13 games.
  23. No, need one of them to be a lot more than solid. Cease might have a chance to be a legit ace at this point and I see #3 starter potential in Dunning. Really need one of them to live up to their potential.
  24. Basabe has a tremendous eye at the plate. Just drew a walk after starting 0-2. He is so underrated by most prospect experts and it’s not even funny. Pretty certain he’ll MLBPipeline’s midseason list though.
