FS: White Sox Draft Cheat Sheet (Rabbit)
Chicago White Sox replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Awesome fucking write-up, appreciate it as always raBBit. -
Seeing that the OF post generated some good discussion, I thought we could do a similar exercise with our other major depth area which is starting pitching. Below are my rankings: 01) Kopech 02) Hansen 03) Cease 04) Dunning 05) Stephens 06) Guerrero 07) Puckett 08) Adams 09) Lambert 10) Flores

Why not hire Ozzie? Make things interesting.

Lip, thank you for bringing up the comments for that Tigers series. That was the first moment he really quit on the team and that shit is unforgivable. You are a leader of men in the thick of things and you decide to make things about yourself. Once a brash, selfish, ego-maniac always a brash, selfish, ego-maniac. Thanks for 2005 but you & your entitled little shits of sons can stay away from my White Sox always & forever. -

Not to get political, but it’s amazing to see the parallels between Ozzie & Trump supporters. First, ignore all the horrible things the person in question has said & done even if they go against everything you stand for. Second, find a scapegoat that you can make pathetically weak arguements for why they’re worse or at the very least guilty of the same things. Third, go on a message board and make your argument loud, proud & relentless to ensure everyone knows just how hypocritical & full of shit you really are. -
Forbes has definitely been a pleasant surprise. Still can dream on him a bit, even if it’s a huge long-shot.

Dude quit on his team and let his douchebag kids embarrass our organization, he should never be welcomed back under any circumstance. -
I know this won’t be a popular opinion, but I’d send Giolito down to AAA for a few weeks. He’s a very cerebral guy and I feel like he’d benefit greatly from pitching without the pressures of facing major league hitters. Let him clear his mind, focus on his mechanics, and come back up at the start of June and hope for the best.

Coming into the season it was one of Stephens, Adams, & Guerrero. A lot of people were optimistic about Clarkin and Flores had his fans too. Having said that, Lambert, McClure, & Henzman have been the most impressive this year in that next tier, but I’d give it to Jimmy out of those three given he’s a level above the other two. Don’t know much about the stuff, but NorthSide did say his velocity jumped up a few ticks which makes me wonder if he really might be someone to follow going forward.
-
Another fantastic start for Lambert. 6 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 HR, 7 K, 1 BB, 63/95 strikes. Stats wise the kid is making a strong case to be the next best pitching prospect after the big four in Kopech, Hansen, Dunning, & Cease.
-
Better not be Rutherford. I’m happy with his performance so far, but he’s not showing the power or plate discipline to earn a promotion anytime soon IMO.
-
I could be wrong, but I thought I read the recovery process would be about 8 months.
-
Adolfo is just a completely different hitter this year. Had an excellent 10 pitch at-bat where he started off 0-2 and was able to work a walk. He’s simply way more selective this year and that goes well beyond his career BB high rate this year. This kid has a chance to be a poor man’s Eloy if all goes well IMO.
-
Adams & Lambert on the mound tonight. Hopefully Adams can right the ship and Lambert can keep going strong.
-
I’ve probably watched him close to a dozen times this year and it just doesn’t seem like his current swing is geared for elevating the ball. Again, I’m not a swing expert by any means, but when I watch Basabe, Adolfo, or even Rutherford I feel like I have a chance of seeing a HR (a much better chance for those first two obviously). Just don’t get that same feeling when I watch Sheets. Almost expect a low line drive or grounder.

I know this is impossible, but could we somehow pull off India as an underslot option at #4 and then use the savings to get Turang with our second pick? There is about a $2M difference in slot value between the #4 & #10 pick. India seems like a guy who might forgoe a good chunk of that difference to be selected higher in the draft. Probably not enough to get Turang to bite, but I do kinda of like that type of strategy if Mize or Bohm isn’t available at #4.
-
I’m no swing expert, but from what I’ve seen his doesn’t generate much loft.
-
· 5h Dane Dunning was caught by Seby Zavala today, but went out of his way to compliment Zack Collins’ framing. Dunning said Collins has greatly improved his ability to stick strikes on the corners
-
While I agree people exaggerate the post 30 decline, let’s not ignore these little things called steroids. The aging curve you’re referring does not exactly exist anymore.
-
I didn’t get to watch him much, but from the box score it looks like he gave up a bunch of singles. The peripherals were solid at the very least. I’m very happy if this is what we can consider a bad Dunning start.
-
I was just about to post this about Collins. He absolutely ripped that pitch. Him & Jimenez both looking good so far tonight.
-
I guess I don’t know what you’re even arguing. I already said you can be skeptical of the architects behind this rebuild. Obviously their track record hasn’t been good since 2005 and most organizations would have probably cut them loose by this point. But the decision to rebuild was the right call. There really wasn’t another alternative unless Reinsdorf was going to up the checkbook significantly and even that would have been super risky. And regardless of who was leading the rebuild, our team was going to suck this year. That was always part of the plan. A small subset of posters here keep acting surprised by this and/or use it as further proof as part of their anti Hahn & KW agenda. So again, hate those two all you like, but don’t use this season to fuel the fire.
-
When you have absolute zero long-term payroll commitments you better spend some money and sign some impact talent in free agency. This idea we will build completely from within is not realistic and honestly a poor strategy. Trotting out sub $70M payrolls for the next half decade would simply be a waste of a young cheap core.
-
I will continue to ask when does the front office step in and say “Hey Ricky, please see these numerous studies on why” insert decision “is generally a bad idea”. Like the bunting should have been nipped in the butt last season. It’s just so bizarre to see this stuff still happening.
-
Great post, but what in the world is going on with the spacing?!
-
Lol...you can hate or be skeptical of the front office all you want, but people need to stop being surprised this team sucks and trying to use that as further evidence the front office is incompetent. The team is supposed to suck right now by design and ignoring that just makes some of you guys look like total fools.
