Chris Getz to take over player development
Chicago White Sox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm not going to comment until the Sox release a statement. Having said that, if they did another half-ass hiring process and failed to interview multiple qualified candidates I'm going to be pissed. -
QUOTE (Deadpool @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 10:34 PM) Stop the act, you've been exposed by chw42. It's absolutely pathetic you keep coming back here. Go celebrate with your brethren on Northsidebaseball.com.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 10:33 PM) I will never understand why a Cubs fan would want to post on a Sox board during a postseason game. There has to be 100 Cubs boards that would love to discuss the game with you. It's insane, I could have given two s***s what Cubs fans thought in 2005. But for whatever reason, dude needs to troll hard.

Absolutely embarrassing to give up a grand slam on an 0-2 count. No excuse whatsoever.

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 10:29 PM) Hahahahahaha!!!!!! Try to contain your excitement.

And Lester is out, good for the Dodgers as long as Soler doesn't knock Baez in here.

QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 07:50 PM) That was basically the equivalent of sending Paul Konerko on that play. Not defending the send call, but had he not stepped back towards 2B he scores easily there.
-
Holy f***, can't believe they don't score there. I know Gonzalez is slow as f***, but he should have aleady been halfway to 3B at the point of contact with Lester pitching.
-
How come every time I watch the Cubs, no one ever runs on Lester.
-
My wife claims Bryant thought the ball was going to be caught, but it looked like straight HR showboating to me. Either way, he may have cost them a run by not running out of the gate and turning that hit into a triple.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) Wonder if there's some insurance that covers that deal for the team. Anywho, end result = this is one more team hunting for a LHP reliever. The White Sox could use one of those, so there's extra competition. I don't expect the Sox to go for it next year, so I'm not sure it's a huge area of concern. Having said that, I fully expect Brian Clark up at some point next year and for us to sign a guy or two off the scrap heap. Doubt we'll be going after any big name left-handed relievers.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 12:09 PM) McEwing took over the 3b coach job with Robin's first staff in 2012 after a couple years of managing at Winston-Salem and Charlotte for the org. Thigpen was a minor league pitching coach before coming up to the big league level. Is there some obvious reason I'm missing as to why this is different? Promotion from within seems like the norm, not the exception with this management. We're talking about the director of player development and the minor league pitching coordinator, two of the most important positions on the development side. I'd say that's pretty different than promoting a minor league manager or pitching coach.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) Why is Lackey going tonight? Unless he was scratched, Lester is pitching tonight.
-
Seems like promoting two development guys to the coaching staff in Capra & Hasler signals we'll be rebuilding next year.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Oct 12, 2016 -> 10:00 PM) FWIW---Boston Cable had their end of season Red Sox wrap-up show tonight. Had 4 of the regular media members that cover the team from different media sources. Retaining Farrell was a sign that Dombrowski will not be making major changes. All were in agreement that Red Sox from all indications will go with existing starters but will need to add a set-up person in bullpen. All agreed Moncada and Benintendi will not be traded. A few other thoughts they had: 1. Moncada could eventually end up as a right-fielder in AAA next year and that could free up a Bradley trade in 2018. 2. 3B is Panda's to lose. 3. Swihart will eventually be traded but not this offseason since he is damaged goods. 4. Vazquez will most likely be the 2017 catcher. 5. Buchholtz could be a sign and trade for a SP prospect or a bullpen piece. No offense, but I doubt Dombrowski even has his offseason plan figured out just days after their season ended, let alone a bunch of media members. You keep saying they aren't interested in a top of the rotation starter, but I call bulls***. We all saw what happened to them in the playoffs, Dombrowski won't be stupid enough to enter 2017 without a legit ace when he has the rest of a World Series roster in place. Whether they pony up for Sale is a different story, but I strongly believe they'll be actively looking at all major arms.

2016 Fantasy Football Thread
Chicago White Sox replied to SnB's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Need advise on a potential trade in a 12 team, 0.5 PPR league. I have the opportunity to trade Kenneth Dixon for Gary Barnidge. My other RBs are Gurley, Anderson, Michael, Jennings, & Sproles, while my only TE is Dennis Pitta. Dixon has significant upside IMO, but West has been running well lately and I'm not sure if Dixon will ever be more than a committe back this season unless there is a serous injury. Barnidge is a better TE option than Pitta right now, but I'm not sure if his targets drop when Coleman comes back. At the same time, he has signicant upside if McCown were to takeover the starting QB spot. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. -
I'll always remember how much of a liability he was in the OF. He was the definition of fun bad out there.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 12, 2016 -> 07:42 AM) Key to the Cubs blueprint were clever and extremely productive July trades. Rick Hahn passed on those opportunities the last 2 years. I think the club needs to trade sale but I don't think Hahn has the guts to do it. I think it's more likely Hahn undertakes a major hero hunt this off-season Rumors are that Hahn has been for a rebuild for quite some time, but was overruled by Reinsdorf and/or KW. Regardless, if it's job security he wants, Hahn is better off going the rebuilding route and buying himself a good four years. If he goes for it again and fails, he'll be hard pressed to use the manager and players as scapegoats after multiple years of underperformance. I'm fairly confident the Sox will do some sort of rebuild, just doubt they will blow the whole thing up.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 11:06 PM) But, in theory, he was playing the BEST matchups, the odds of NONE of them working out is kind of crazy. With a three run lead, I'd rather give a single reliever the chance to develop some rhythm. Not easy coming into a high leverage situation in the playoffs to face one batter.
-
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 11:03 PM) Giants bullpen converted 43 saves in 2016. They blew 32 saves. That's unbelievable for a playoff team. What's unbelievable is Bochy using five f***ing relievers in a single inning with a sizable lead. He got too f***ing cute and blew an amazing opportunity to knock the Cubs out of the playoffs.
-
Please get two runs off this wife beating f*** and send it back to Chicago.
-
Might as well just hand the Cubs the World Series trophy with the momentum they'll have after this win. f*** you Bochy.
-
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 10:52 PM) If this series goes 5, they have to start Cueto and go Bumgarner out of the pen. The Giants need to get out of this half inning before anyone worries about game 5.
-
This really is some embarrassing managing. I can't believe he'd use five pitchers in a single inning when you have a three run lead.
-
I hope Bochy has 12 man pen at this rate.
