  1. I just don't get how any Sox fan could want the Cubs to win here. The long-term impact of the Cubs winning multiple championships could be catastrophic for our franchise, but apparently that's ok for some as long as one of their loved ones gets to end their "suffering". I just don't get that logic and I say that as someone who is married to a diehard Cubs fan. Sucks I have to root against her "well-being", but this is f***ing sports, not something important like her health. I don't like this participation trophy attitude our country has developed and watching good Sox fans on this site actively cheer on a direct & dangerous rival is really a sign of the times.
  2. TWD getting some mixed reviews, but I really think last night's episode and its underlying violence was needed to move the show forward. We need to understand clearly why Rick would succumb to someone like Negan and the brutality last night demonstrates why.
  3. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Oct 23, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) When Theo was hired by the Cubs, numerous posters on this site said very similiar things about his success in Boston. Regardless it was under his watch that the Red Sox ended their drought. As a White Sox fan living in New England I was glad to see him go. But I give him credit in that he has resurrected a worse situation with the Cubs than he did in Boston. He knows how to run a FO. I think he surrounds himself with people who have an eye for talent. Pretty sure Dan Duquette deserves a lot of credit for that first Red Sox team to win a World Series.
  4. We just got to hope if there really is a baseball god, he's got something special in store for Cubs fans, something far worse than the Bartman event. The Cubs should win this thing on paper, but stranger things have happened. I won't make an official prediction, but I will be actively cheering for the Tribe for the first time in my adult life.
  5. Wii U was a huge dissapointment, but I'm not sure how any of their other consoles could be considered bad. People may argue the Wii was a gimmick, but the system sold like crazy and had some amazing games. And every one of their systems before the Wii was beyond awesome. I just don't get why PlayStation & Xbox fanboys feel the need to rip Nintendo. If you're too cool to play Nintendo games then so be it, but they remain one of the best video game developers in this world. I just don't see how the hate is justified.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 01:16 AM) But the Dodgers only hope was to keep the momentum and go up 3-2 and try to somehow scratch out a win in Chicago. No way Dodgers can win two. In fact Cubs are locks for Game Six. Just a garbage post. I'm nervous about Saturday, but assuming the Cubs are a lock against the best pitcher in the world, the same pitcher they already lost to at home earlier this series, is beyond ridiculous.
  7. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 11:46 PM) This is truth. If anyone thinks the Sox aren't moving when their lease is up, they're crazy. As long as there is a viable destination for them to go to, they're as good as gone. If you extrapolate twitter followers, there are roughly 7 cubs fans for every 2 Sox fans CURRENTLY. To think that ratio won't shrink to 8 or 9 to 1 with a Cubs WS win is insanely naive. Chicago is well on its way to becoming a one team town in baseball. IMO it isn't a matter of if, but when. The Cubs have taken over this city over the last 35 years or so, the only way for the Sox to have a chance is if the Cubs lose games 6 and 7, Lester's arm falls off in ST 2017 and Bryant and Rizzo completely suck going forward for some odd reason, all of which are unlikely to happen. Lol...this is a terrible post.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 11:29 PM) Did you see the data on Sox/Cubs fan based off of Facebook information that was retweeted by Bernstein the other day? Cubs nation has taken over even the south suburbs. Goes to show how incredible dumb people on here are that think the Cubs being awesome isn't bad for the Sox. Yup, anyone arguing that the Cubs aren't a direct competitor is fooling themselves. The Cubs going on a Blackhawks type run is very bad for us.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 06:46 PM) Probably just to show off the partnership with Bethesda, but I agree That and to demonstrate the idea of playing a massive AAA title on the go. I get it's five years old, but it's still a large open-world game people are familiar with. That's an experience doesn't really exist today on a mobile platform and is a huge selling point for Switch.
  10. I'll be honest, I think the Switch looks incredible. While most rumors were spot on, it blew away my expectations. As long as they deliver on the games, I think this system can bring them back after the Wii U fiasco.
  11. Another f***ing challenge goes their way, f*** MLB for this crooked replay system.
  12. And there's the official confirmation from Nintendo:
  13. Watched Bone Tomahawk over the weekend and it was awesome. Definitely not what I was expecting, but in a good way. Highly recommend it to anyone into westerns or even horror movies. And wow to a certain death scene in the final act.
  14. Not sure if there are a ton of Nintendo fans on this board, but there are some serious rumors that NX will be unveiled tomorrow. Very interested to see if the hybrid rumors turn out to be true.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 05:31 PM) I really think Sale and Robertson for Benintenidi, Kopech, Groome, Rodriguez, and Vasquez is pretty fair, but unrealistic given our obsession with Bradley That's not enough for Sale, would need Devers too.
  16. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 09:22 PM) You guys are something else. Why exactly? Why do you feel the need to defend this move?
  17. Kershaw is at 84 pitches, why would you not give him the 8th and hopefully the 9th?
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 05:23 PM) I'll admit I can't prove this one, but as of now I can't argue successfully against the nagging feeling that this front office has just gotten lazy. Don't think it's worth the time to interview other candidates for the managerial spot, basically the entire coaching staff is filled by promoting from within, those guys are replaced with guys that they already have in house or know personally. "Scheduling interview is hard work and we just don't feel it's worth it." Like I said, wait until we see a press release. Hahn will provide some commentary on the move and hopefully we'll be able to tell if they went through a legit interview process or just hired a guy they liked from back in the day.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 05:11 PM) "Barack Obama named new asst director of player personnel"
  20. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) Rick Hahn Seems like a Hahn guy. Fellow Michigan man. Our only trade deadline addition was a New Trier kid. The new director of player development a former Michigan student. All Hahn needs to do is add a Harvard Law grad somewhere in the org and he's covered most of his alma maters.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 04:49 PM) I had an exchange with Keith Law to see if Getz had any reputation as a fast riser or anything, and alas, he said no While not surprising, that's incredibly disappointing.
  22. I'm not going to comment until the Sox release a statement. Having said that, if they did another half-ass hiring process and failed to interview multiple qualified candidates I'm going to be pissed.
  23. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 10:34 PM) Stop the act, you've been exposed by chw42. It's absolutely pathetic you keep coming back here. Go celebrate with your brethren on Northsidebaseball.com.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 10:33 PM) I will never understand why a Cubs fan would want to post on a Sox board during a postseason game. There has to be 100 Cubs boards that would love to discuss the game with you. It's insane, I could have given two s***s what Cubs fans thought in 2005. But for whatever reason, dude needs to troll hard.
  25. Absolutely embarrassing to give up a grand slam on an 0-2 count. No excuse whatsoever.
