  1. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 15, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) Someone told me Renteria has too much respect for Robin to replace him midseason and if he ever did replace him, it would be in the offseason. That does make a lot of sense, thanks for sharing raBBit.
  2. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 15, 2016 -> 04:58 PM) He's certainly intriguing. KATOH projects him as the White Sox's top prospect and the 111th prospect in the game, I assume mainly based on his 2016 destruction in Birmingham. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/an-improved...h-top-100-list/ Thanks for posting. I think he's certainly underrated and I'd probably rank him in the 10 - 15 range in our system. The only thing holding him back IMO is a lack of position. If he could play a solid LF, I think he could be a very valuable player.
  3. The Sox are not moving and the idea is absolutely ridiculous. Not only are there franchises with far worse situations (A's & Rays immediately come to mind), but MLB wants to expand in the not too distant future. If someone can name three to four cities out there that are better than a split Chicago, I'd love to hear them. Despite our low ratings today, the potential of the Chicago market is incredible and a new owner would have to be crazy to pass it up to go somewhere like Portland or Vegas.
  4. Heyman was on WSCR this morning and speculated that Renteria would be the favorite to replace Robin. While that makes some sense, I can't comprehend why they wouldn't give him a two month audition if they were serious about him. Regardless, there is zero chance Robin is back next year. Just hope he isn't the sacrificial lamb and there's some shakeup in the front office as well.
  5. Nicky Delmonico has been on fire in his last 10 games. I still think he projects as a major league bat, just not sure what position he ends up at. If I were the Sox, I'd give him as much playing time in LF as possible.
  6. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) Bring him back
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 13, 2016 -> 02:41 AM) IGN's review is kind of hammering home all of the fears I had about this game. http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/08/13/no-...y-review?page=1 Yeah, most reviews echo the same issues/concerns. The sense scale is incredible and allows the game to be enjoyable for a period of time, but the actual gameplay systems are simply not fun and get repetitive quickly. And if what I read about the end of game is true, then there's really no payoff. Pretty disappointing given how much hype this game has gotten.
  8. QUOTE (daggins @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 07:47 PM) http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20160811 Just making this thread to say Alex Call, you are ridiculous. How is his defense? If he can play a solid CF then he's easily a top six prospect in our system IMO.
  9. I don't why anyone is taking Ron seriously, there is zero chance Hansen gets called up to the majors this year and I would say AA is just as unlikely. My guess is he'll get moved to Kannapolis in the near future and finish out the season there. He'll then start 2017 in Winston-Salem. This a guy you take your time with and even our development staff must see that.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 07:24 PM) Personally, I don't see the point of him coming up this season. I would prefer if he went into the offseason conditioning as a starter and working as a starter in the minors to start the season. 100% agree. And I'd like to see Fulmer in AAA working as a starter as well. Let relievers like Albers continue to blow games and worry about fixing the pen in the offseason. This season is already a lost cause.
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 12:21 PM) I'd like to see Call, Fisher, and Adolfo together in W-S to start next season Call & Fisher sure, but Adolfo definitely needs more time at Kannopolis. Glad to finally see him show some power, but his plate discipline still needs work. A couple months in low A to start the 2017 season can only help him.
  12. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 05:12 AM) I started No Man's Sky tonight. I don't work until the evening tomorrow so I figured I'd just go nuts tonight and play as much as I wanted. It's not 5 a.m. and I haven't gone to bed yet. This game is MASSIVE not just in literal size (we've already heard about how many planets there are), but also in how complex it is. There are so many things you can do and I literally just started flying around with my ship, which opened up a whole bunch of stuff. I had been walking everywhere to explore and now I can save time doing this. I can't even imagine the extra layers once I leave a planet for the first time. Geez. Is it fun though? Based on the limited stuff I've seen, it seems like all you do is gather resources, build-up your ship, and move closer to the center of the Galaxy. They may be fun for a little while, but I see it getting tedious if there isn't more to it than that.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) Band of Brothers was simply fantastic. While not as great, The Pacific was still wonderful - dive into that next. Rami Malek (Mr. Robot lead actor) is in The Pacific. That's the plan. Finished Band of Brothers yesterday and it definitely met the hype. Absolutely loved the two episodes in Bastogne, some of the best TV ever made IMO. Can't wait for The Pacific next.
  14. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) Word is that the Pirates may look at moving McCutcheon in a salary dump over the winter. The Sox don't have a lot in the tank as far as prospects go, but could move Burdi and Fulmer for him. Sign Castro and trade for Norris to catch. RF Eaton CF McCutcheon 1B Abreu 3B Frazier DH Cabrera LF Tilson 2B Lawrie C Castro/Norris SS Anderson You're not getting McCutcheon for that, but let's say you could, why the hell would you start Tilson as your LF? Would be such a stupid, half-ass White Sox type of move.
  15. What are they challenging? Potential home run? Stuck watching Paw Patrol with the kid.
  16. The problem is if there ever was a time to raise the payroll significantly, it was during last year's free agency and ownership decided not to. Why would they decide to spend big now? And even if they do, it's hard to imagine them outbidding all other teams for the few impact free agents. Unfortunately, I fully expect more half-assing, with one "big" move and then lots of dumpster diving.
  17. I want to see a entirely new coaching staff. I love what Cooper has accomplished here, but I think it's a time for a change at pitching coach too. I'm certain this allies to him, but guys can become complacent over time. I want our new manager to be able to put together his own staff from scratch.
  18. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 6, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) Don't go crazy on him yet. It is rookie ball where he should dominate. It's not just about him dominating, it's also the fact he's barely walking anyone. Him being in rookie ball shouldn't take anything away from that.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 5, 2016 -> 06:54 AM) Gammons just said Moncada, Benitendi, Devers and Kopech were not available for Sale. LMAO, seriously, go f*** yourself Boston. I hope you flame out QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 5, 2016 -> 07:04 AM) Then they'll never get him nor Quintana. f*** em. Lol...directly conflicts with what White Sox Dave said was offered for Quintana. Not sure I have that much faith in Dave, but you can't really trust Gammons either when it comes to the Red Sox. Whatever, I can't wait for them to flame out in the playoffs and realize they should have added a legit TOR arm.
  20. Watch Narcos, which might be the best Netflix original ever. The story follows the rise of Pablo Escobar and the DEA agents trying to bring him down. It ranks right up there with House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, & Stranger Things. If you have Starz, then definitely watch The Missing. It's about couple whose son goes missing while vacationing in France and their search for answers. While tonally different, it's a limited series and is structured a bit like True Detective in terms of storytelling. Easily one of the best shows I've seen in a while. While not a newer show, I'll throw the one I'm watching right now which is Band of Brothers. I just watched the first three episodes and it's incredible. Somewhat similar feel to Saving Private Ryan, but as a 10 hour miniseries it can go into much more depth in terms characters and storytelling. And it's crazy how many familiar actors are in it. Great series so far.
  21. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 11:17 AM) Sorry, but no one is tuning in to see Sale pitch on a last place team now. Sale being with the Sox does nothing to improve the contract value of the team with the lowest ratings of any team in the league. Where do you see us having the lowest rating?
  22. Who gives a flying f*** if fans can "handle" a rebuild, if it's the right strategy then go for it. Only a horrible GM would accept mediocrity to appease his fans' short term interests.
  23. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I kind of liked BvS. It definitely wasn't great by any means, but I thought the overall reviews were unfairly harsh. Now, the animated Batman movies are actually really good. Have watched four of them over the past week. I believe several of these are on Comcast On Demand right now if you have some of the premium channels. The Dark Knight Returns, Under the Red Hood, & Assault on Arkham all are worth watching, especially if you have never read any of the comics. Looking forward to renting the The Killing Joke this weekend despite somewhat poor reviews.
  24. I really wish the Sox had found a way to move Shields and Lawrie or Frazier at the deadline. Ranaudo & Saladino deserve looks and they could have gotton two months of regular playing time had we just cleared spots for them. For a organization completely devoid of young, major league ready talent, here's two guys that will essentially rot in AAA and our bench. Neither are close to sure things by any means, but they would have been a lot more fun to watch than the veterans in their place.
  25. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) Shields' peripherals are awful. He's Latos with much better luck. They should dump him and save the $22 million if they can. I think Robertson could be moved even if claimed and Morneau should clear and be moved as well. Could see some action this month. Why would Morneau clear? He's making a $1M. Anyone interested in him would happily pay his measily salary and simply claim him.
