  1. I really don't think you get Frazier without Thompson. And I'd like to see Trayce put up these numbers over a full season before I start feeling regrets.
  2. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 28, 2016 -> 09:23 PM) Oh I dunno. Sin city is very hard to gauge . To me he seems totally serious but who knows, he could be a troll. Sin City Sox is the most blatant troll on this site.
  3. QUOTE (Vance Law @ May 28, 2016 -> 08:54 PM) Manager doesn't matter. You can get to and maybe win a World Series with Ned Yost or Terry Collins, or Ozzie f***ing Guillen. I'm sorry, but you're flat out wrong. Managers do matter, even if their impact is hard to quantify. And just because some teams can be successful DESPITE their manager, it does not mean the manager isn't costing them games. Robin is killing us right now and his in-game decision-making is only part of the problem. A good manager knows how to keep his team loose and prevent them from going through extended slumps. Joe Maddon is a great example of that. On the flip side, our entire team has been pressing for weeks and Robin hasn't been able to do anything to stop it. Whether it's a lack of leadership or simply an ineffective form, whatever he is attempting to do to get these guys out of their funk isn't working. And quite frankly, it more than time for a change.
  4. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 28, 2016 -> 08:47 PM) How does the opt-out clause factor into negotiating leverage? Are the Sox able to offer less since they can say "Well we might only have him for 20 starts." There's no chance Shields opts out. And if he does, that means pitched so well that we should be able to get a comp pick from his exit.
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 28, 2016 -> 08:37 PM) Good stats for Shield with more strikeouts than innings pitched and good control. I think he still has something to offer. But, that salary!!! Not sure what stats you're looking at, but he's K'ing less than 8 per nine innings.
  6. QUOTE (harkness @ May 28, 2016 -> 04:41 PM) At this very moment we are... is the Cleveland game over? They're up 7-0 so unless Robin Ventura is their manager the game is over.
  7. f*** you Robin, you might be the worst manager in baseball history.
  8. This is the most pathetic loss I have ever witnessed as a Sox fan.
  9. Why do you intentially load the bases with a guy with no control?
  10. Bringing in a god damn rookie in a super high leverage situation. What a f***ing asshole. I hate Robin with a motherf***ing passion. f*** this chump.
  11. f*** you Robin, you stupid mothef***er. You are a f***ing joke and I hope you never coach another game again.
  12. I will f***ing lose my s*** if our closer blows a six run lead in the 9th.
  13. What kind of stuff does Cooper have? He's been one of just a handful of pleasant surprises.
  14. QUOTE (daggins @ May 28, 2016 -> 09:31 AM) bad every time I hear Buddy Bell talk about player development I become more convinced he is a Royals plant with a mission to destroy the Sox from the ground up. His development strategy seems to be "Let them do what they always have done, and if they fail, well, they weren't going to make it anyways." What's funny is I'm pretty sure he basically said that in his interview with raBBit. Bell is a real problem IMO and I'm shocked they've kept him this long. Also, I thought when Steverson was brought in we were going to develop a systematic approach to hitting. Unfortunately outside of a handful of guys, the approach still seems to be swing away.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2016 -> 08:40 AM) How did they perform after the bench clearing brawl vs KC last year? I believe they went 8-6 and then got f***ed over by the Baltimore riots.
  16. QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 28, 2016 -> 06:57 AM) To be fair, some of the hits off of Albers were doinks, abetted by Rollins' lousy defense. He can't hit right handed pitching at all, his D shows his age, and Cooper/Ventura insist that he play 5/7....maybe it's Rollins who should get the DFA. Yeah, I'm not sure I put that much blame on Albers. That was an ideal situation to use Jones and Robin failed to do so.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 28, 2016 -> 06:41 AM) That was near the end of April, 2000. Yes, look at their record in May-July of that season...zipped to the best record in baseball. Rob Fick flipped off everyone, Jeff Weaver and Juan Samuel were other big elements of it. That's what I thought. A fight could do wonders for this team, just need to be more strategic than last year's altercation with the Royals. Instead of Sale getting into the middle of the action, we need guys like Sands & Rollins to step up. Also, loved when Fick got that beer dumped on him. And the Magglio jump kick. What an awesome fight.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 28, 2016 -> 02:11 AM) I hate to be a negative prick, but we have no chance in this game. Sox lost all the mojo it had. Yes at one point we were so hot and confident we had a chance to play with KC and beat KC. Now forget it. We are fodder for them. Look for about 5-7 wins against KC this year 12 to 14 losses. Sorry but that's the case. After last night, today is a no brainer KC victory. There is momentum in baseball. KC owns us and has set the tone at 3-1 vs. Chicago in four games this season already. Today should be something like 7-3 or 7-1 KC Please keep the Royals love out of this thread...thanks.
  19. Ventura and Lawrie have beef right? I wouldn't mind some of those feelings spilling over to the field today. Didn't the Sox perform well after that famous Tigers fight during the Jerry Manual era? Anything that might shake things is good by me.
  20. I am so sick and tired of losing. If this team has any heart, they will come out this afternoon and simply f*** KC up. 1st place is at stake and we will see what this team is made of coming off a painful loss. Go Sox!
  21. He doesn't need to go, but he should only be used in low leverage situations until he proves otherwise.
