AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 11:59 PM) There's not much buzz at all with Coats. He's rated properly as a mediocre prospect in a weak system that is 26 years old which means sink or swim time for him. And he'd be hard pressed to do any worse than the last guys on the Sox roster. There's been a lot of buzz about him on this site.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 10:50 PM) Might be? Avi is in such a dense fog right now and others may say has been in that fog his whole career. Sure Coats is overrated but he's the only position player on Charlotte worth talking about because of outstanding numbers (apologies to Smith and Sanchez). I just don't have a lot of faith that Coats is going to come and not struggle like a lot of rookies do, especially ones that are fringe prospects. Having said that, Avi is so bad that it wouldn't take much for Coats outperform him. I'm willing to give him a shot, just not optimistic the result will much better.

**SPOILER THREAD** GAME OF THRONES ** SPOILER THREAD **
GoT producers only want to do another 10-15 episodes after season 6. Therefore, this season will need to cover a ton of ground. In that case, tomorrow's episode pretty much has to end with Jon Snow's resurrection. They really can't afford to drag this out IMO.

SUGGESTION:Saladino to SS, Rollins to DH
QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 08:12 PM) Not really. They mean something, though it's a limited something. The problem with Avi is not that he's always been horrible (he hasn't), but that he hasn't progressed at all. Nobody with as many PAs against ML pitching as he's had should be swinging at the junk that he's currently swinging at. He just can't seem to get the mental part of hitting right. What do they mean? When looking at these stats, how do you account for breaking balls not breaking, veteran pitchers working on certain pitches, and the lower overall quality of starting pitching (due to fringe MLB & minor league guys). Avi has not and will never be a disciplined hitter. He'll continue to go into every at-bat with a complete lack of approach. I had hopes for him because he was so raw when he entered the majors, but after 1,000 plate appearances with absolutely no signs of improvement, I've seen enough to come to the conclusion that he is a bad baseball player.

Avi Needs to Go
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 07:24 PM) He doesn't have a track record of hitting .130. In fact his first 23 games with the White Sox, he hit .349. Last year he was putting up decent numbers for a while. If they continue to trot him out ther,e he will get hot for a while eventually. His track record has shown that,. I am not opposed to having him sent down. I just don't think, unless they radically adjust his stance and approach, it will do anything to improve him. Whether they stick with him or move on, which they will do if this continues much longer, they will get more production out of the DH spot than they have had so far this season. His track record shows he puts up unsustainable BABIPs for short periods of time and then quickly comes down back to earth due to a complete lack of plate discipline. I'm not even sure what you're arguing at this point. You're a smart guy, I know you can't possibly believe he's the answer at DH, whether short-term or long-term.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 07:49 PM) There has been a buzz with Coats, but IMO, he is due a crash. I think his BABIP is close to .500, and he hardly ever walks. I agree with, he's definitely overrated around here IMO. Having said that, he still might be a better option than Avi.

SUGGESTION:Saladino to SS, Rollins to DH
QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 07:56 PM) This is true, but so many of his ABs have been awful. He's swinging at all sorts of crazy stuff right now. While it appeared that he was progressing as a hitter this spring, he's going backwards again. If I were Robin, I'd pencil him in at DH about three games per week and give him until June to figure things out. If he's still having bad ABs and struggling to get on base, I'd take him out of the lineup and have a talk with Hahn. Spring training numbers are meaningless. Let's not use them as an excuse to suffer through more Avi than we need to.

SUGGESTION:Saladino to SS, Rollins to DH
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 07:38 PM) Garcia is still learning. Guys may have proven track records from 2015 and back but that doesn't do anything for this year. All I am saying is don't give up on a player so quickly. The alternative to him isn't always better We've given him over 1,000 plate appearances and he's shown absolutely no signs of improvement in his approach at the plate. He is what he is, a DH who can't hit RHP. And as bad as our intental alternatives are, they are most definitely better than Avi against RHP. I don't really care if they him down to AAA or use him as the weak side of a DH platoon, he should no longer be given everyday at-bats. It's officially time to cut bait on the Avi experiment.

Avi Needs to Go
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 05:43 PM) The Sox win again, so naturally we are talking about Avi. So weaknesses on the team can't be discussed because the Sox are winning by the narrowest of margins? That's really what you're telling us?
-
AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Huge win for us! Obviously some frustrating moments, but the team stuck with it and was able to overcome their mistakes.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 04:34 PM) Move him out of the 3 hole If this isn't a slump and simply the new Jose Abreu, the team isn't going anywhere regardless of what spot Jose bats in.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) It is past a slump What do you recommend then? Trading him? DFAing him? How does this make our offense better?
