How the F are we ever going to build an offense?
The Sox used to be good at scouting and player development and had a LatAm pipeline that actually produced talent. The world has changed massively since 2005 and we are rapidly behind the times. The size of our analytics department should be clear evidence of that. We are also starting from complete scratch which is a task most GMs do not have to deal with.

Trade thoughts
Why? They get a ton of guaranteed money from their regional and national TV deals and have almost no payroll commitments for next year. They also don’t pay rent if attendance is super low. Don’t let Harold convince you otherwise…he simply wants to free up money so we can sign a Santander caliber free agent.

It’s becoming more and more likely that Harold is indeed Getz.

Fedde to STL in a three way with LAD
The question is how much of that is related to a potential back issue. I don’t ever recall hearing about this problem until the AFL. And it’s not like AA is lacking of pitchers with high velocities and he hit very well there.

AJ could be a candidate to manage Sox
But does he have the leadership traits of a 5 star general like Robin had?

If we hire AJP, feels like it’s a Reinsdorf edict based on the above video

- AJ could be a candidate to manage Sox
Honestly, both of them.- AJ could be a candidate to manage Sox
One thing I will say, but this reeks of the same info that leaked about Getz right before we avoided having an actual interview process and just handing him the GM job. I wonder if they already have the wheels in motion to replace Grifol in a same manner.- 7-28 Gamethread: Mariners at Sox (1:10pm)

They can and I hope they do! I’m not suggesting we are fucked at this point, but I’m certainly nervous whether Getz has a handle on things and until trades actually that feeling won’t subside. Hope he kills it over the next couple of days.- Jason Adam (TB) to the Padres
I have already the SP market hasn’t moved at all, so no reason to be concerned there. But everything else is starting to go off the shelf and it would be nice to see guys like Pham, DeJong, Kopech, & Brebbia start to move. Not sure why that’s such an unreasonable thought to you.- Jason Adam (TB) to the Padres
Odd that every other seller has been able to find buyers to pair up with…- AJ could be a candidate to manage Sox
I love me some AJ, but I truly struggle thinking he is the answer at manager for a club just kicking off what will be a long, painful rebuild. Will he have the patience to develop young players? Seems like that would be a major risk.- Jason Adam (TB) to the Padres
Seems like the most active deadline ever so far.- Jason Adam (TB) to the Padres
No, but sometimes it pays off to be aggressive, both in terms of getting ahead of the market and to allow for more transaction volume. Last year was probably the best deadline we’ve had in my lifetime and Rick moved fast. He traded Giolito to the Angels on July 27th, Lynn & Kelly to the Dodgers on the 28th, and Graveman to the Astros on the 28th. All those deals were fantastic. He also was able to execute two more trades on the deadline (Aug 1st) with Burger to the Marlins and Middleton to the Yankees. The Rays have been executing this same strategy this year and so far have done well for themselves with a considerable amount of talented added and giving themselves more breathing room on their remaining pieces like Paredes. Again, expecting to make four or five trades on the last day or two will prove to be challenging, especially if there is any chance of a Crochet deal happening. I think it’s completely reasonable to be concerned if Getz has a handle on things given this is his first deadline and he’s got a fuckton of players to move.- Jason Adam (TB) to the Padres
Seems like a really nice return. Teams are paying up for relievers. Got to hope we can get something decent for Kopech & Brebbia.- Jason Adam (TB) to the Padres
Lasko (#5), Bush Jr (#12), and a Gonzalez (#8) to the Rays. Tampa super aggressive this deadline while Getz asleep at the wheel.- AJ could be a candidate to manage Sox
All likelihood would be an interim guy- Fire Chris Getz
Oh I fully agree, but even then, it’s absolutely ridiculous to suggest you’d need a premium to trade a guy under control for one more season within the division when you’re on pace for 120 losses. All that being said, we’re just over two days away from the deadline and will have a better sense if Getz knows what he’s doing or not at that time. But trying to pull off four or five trades on the final day would be a bad strategy, so hopefully something happens today or tomorrow.- Trade thoughts
I think there is zero chance Fedde is here. Teams are desperate for SP and he will 100% be moved by Tuesday. He’s a durable dude and I don’t think taking him off his schedule for a start three days before the deadline makes sense. I’d put Crochet being moved at 30%. I took his agency going to the media to be a full on deal killer, but I think you have to look at this a bit like the NBA where you have this unique talent (a legit ace) and now may be your only chance to land him. Whether we like their talent, the Dodgers still seem like a real option. Robert I’d put at like 10%. This recent cold streak (with an insane K rate) isn’t going to do us any favors in convincing another club to pay up like he’s a 5 win player. Personally, I think he’s both a bit checked out at the plate and suffering from a lack of protection (there is just no reason to given him hittable pitches with this crew of terrible). The talent is still there and I think his performance immediately ascends the second he is traded, but probably won’t happen until at next deadline at this pace.- Trade thoughts
The SP market hasn’t moved at all and we are one of the big players there. I just want to see the smaller pieces traded soon. No one is getting desperate for Pham and overpaying at the deadline. Might as well move guys like him before you run out of potential trade partners.- Trade thoughts
Someone will trade for Pham and DeJong. Pham has a 141 wRC+ against LHP. DeJong is a cheap depth option at spots where there aren’t a lot of other options. We won’t get much for either, but lottery tickets should be incoming. - AJ could be a candidate to manage Sox
