I still can’t believe we took tweener McLain over Sirota…FML
-
I know Justin Crawford is a divisive prospect, but wonder if he could be bad for Quero. Phillies will need a catcher if they can’t / don’t bring back Realmuto.
-
They also have a tight budget and every penny matters.

How is this roster churning? They have two catchers that should be starting 120+ games behind the plate and a third who appears to be a very capable backup who can slot in against LHP. To me, this is 100% the right move if you can return a similarly valued young player at a different position.

Fully agree.

Good…hopefully this gets things moving. -
We’ve added a cheap SP and will likely add another. I think they add RP or two, one who might be closer materiel. I fully expect a semi meaningful 1B addition. The OF is a bit challenging at the moment. If you can’t dump Benintendi and you hold onto Robert, then you really only have RF to work with and I’m not sure I want to block Baldwin after he put up 118 wRC+ over the 2H of the season. Who do you have in mind in free agency for RF?

I’m sure he’s going to get more involved, but he’s not yet the controlling owner so he’s not going to be the main decision maker in the interim. Seems like he’s more involved on the stadium side of things due to some of the capital he’s bringing to the table as part of this past agreement.

What is adjusted grade? Saw this the other day and it seems like a new metric. -
Final year of our current lease at Guaranteed Rate and my guess is having a new stadium in place is critical to whatever agreement they came to. And it sounds like Ishbia will be super involved in the stadium process as likely future controlling owner and current majority owner.

Sure, but you went on a long rant that completely ignored his main theoretical point even though he painted that assumption very clearly -

If you gave Getz a $170M payroll, you’d certainly be better, but you’d run into the same issue as always with Jerry afraid of the long-term commitments needed to sign the true impact guys. Unfortunately, we need to wait a bit longer for the SP prospects and Braden to make the show and then start to establish themselves. Once that happens, post union negotiation, we should be ready to make some bigger investments and hopefully will have seaized more influence in the org. -

I mean, he literally says a $100M of additional payroll to get to $170M total… -
Robert is 100% being shopped despite the typical “GM speak” from Getz. No other mention of outfield moves which probably makes sense given Robert posturing. It seems like we’re very open to moving a catcher if a quality offer comes in. Vasil staying in the bullpen is now 100% confirmed as others had said. A decent LH corner infielder will likely be added in FA. My money remains on that being a 1B rather than 3B and the primary target being O’Hearn given his price tag and connection to Fuller. Not mentioned in your post, but Getz mentioned Burke & Cannon would be competing for rotation spots (unlike Smith & Davis) which suggests that another SP will be added.

Is Wisdom even going to get a major league deal? If it’s a minor league, who really cares. I agree though, pretending he is the answer to a major league need would be pretty fucking stupid.
