Huge fucking win after the s%*# show that was last night.

You’re 100% right…and he hasn’t slowed down a bit as he’s moved up which is what’s most impressive.

Gonzo & Eisert Traded to Pirates for Comp Pick and Jaden Woods
Even if Antonacci replaces Chase at 2B, he can still be an incredibly valuable 10th man who serves as the backup at multiple spots. I don’t see the allure in trading him.

Let’s score some fucking runs!!

Yes, but was purely kidding. I am fascinated by the kid though, especially if he can grow into more of a regular catcher.

At this point Bonemer and Boston are the only two untouchables for me

What good is Miller when we have two SPs?

Yeah, giving up Bonemer+ for Miller right now would be fucking nuts and not in a good way.

I meant from a contender.

7/21/2026 - Sox @ Rangers, 7:05pm CDT - Schultz v. Rocker
Because need to develop our own pitching, he’s 22 years old, and it’s year one of our competitive window. I could see the argument for moving Hagen, but you don’t give up a top prospect after 11 major league starts.

Feel like we end up trading one of our RH OFs for a catcher.

White Sox - Injury Tracker
Guy had nine starts and you have drawn a fuckton of conclusions. Amazing how much context you constantly miss. Probably why you thought the Sox were one of the worst teams in baseball this offseason and pretty everyone stunk including Vargas & Burke. We’re talking about a rookie who was making his first nine starts. The last two he was clearly injured and many of us were worried at the time. He had one really bad clunker amongst his first two starts. In between, he made 5 starts, averaged 6+ innings with a 1.48 ERA, 3.13 xERA, & 4.22 FIP. While the K rate was nothing write home about, he did generate fairly weak contact. I watched every single start he made and for a rookie SP I liked what I saw. Doesn’t mean he’s going to be a TOR starter or anything like that, but people writing him off over a nine game sample where he was adjusting to the league and injured for a couple starts is the definition of insanity.

White Sox - Injury Tracker
His velocity was a tick or two higher with the Yankees than it was with us. If that velocity returns, then I think he can be a really good SP. Obviously all caveats apply to a pitcher coming back from major arm surgery.

White Sox - Injury Tracker
I mean, why not just wait and see what he looks like when he comes back. No one is suggesting he’s going to immediately join the major league team. But if a ton of s%*# hits the fan, he went from a guy who looked like had no chance of helping this year to someone who might be able to help. Don’t get me wrong, we need to go out and add a legit SP, but suddenly he might become part of the depth equation when that seemed far fetched just two weeks ago.

White Sox - Injury Tracker
He was a top 70 prospect whose velocity dropped a tick or two when he first came up. If his velocity returns, his command and changeup along will make him a valuable SP.
-
White Sox - Injury Tracker
He’ll be at 5 innings by mid August, which theoretically puts him in the mix for major league starts if we do need him.
-
White Sox - Injury Tracker
He definitely could be a legit SP option down the stretch. Very exciting.

Top 20 Prospects (Pre Draft)
No Boston Smith is absolutely insane.

Gonzo & Eisert Traded to Pirates for Comp Pick and Jaden Woods
You’re assuming there are no injuries, which is something no one can say but is how he get his first stint in the majors. I’d also argue that he’d be a better DH option than Benintendi and would have made room for him by next year.

Gonzo & Eisert Traded to Pirates for Comp Pick and Jaden Woods
I see people keep saying this, but we basically used the slot savings at #34 to pay our 5th round pick slot. I actually like the 5th round pick too, but doesn’t change my thoughts here. I just think Jacob should have commanded more than this. For example, two years of Gavix Lux brought back a Comp A pick plus Mike Sirota for the Dodgers. This is potentially 6+ years of control of a guy who has flashed an ability to both impact the baseball and make good swing decisions at the major league and can play anywhere in the infield. The historical performance of guys selected in the Comp A round suggest we likely lose this trade and a 5th slot pick doesn’t really change the calculus. Again, I like Landon Thome and love this draft class. Just think we look back on this trade and say “damn we could have gotten a lot more if we waited a year to trade Jacob”. Hopefully I’m wrong on all of this though.

I’m not counting on him…just listing him as one of four depth options for the #5 spot in the rotation.
